I ask that question all the time, "Do I know what good photography is?" I post photos on challenges, and then I see the winners of the challenges. Most of the time I think the winner wasn't as good as mine. Then I see other people's photos in the challenge and I think they should have won rather than the actual winner. So I definitely feel your pain! Excellent video!

Patricks second shot would look like something from the 70’s if he had crumpled up the backdrops into big moon rocks or boulders, maybe 1 dark gray 1 light gray. Love the great banter!

Interesting concept. Love the lighting setup. My first thought however would be to actually have a mattress to cushion the fall behind the backdrop and having the model actually fall through it.

Lee is the winner. There is a great balance of light and the model pose. However, you left that white square next to the left side of her chin, which is distracting. Patrick's. The photo could be awesome, but it failed to balance the light output. I love the model pose. Peace. The photos are the 21:35 time line.

I think what made Patrick's image stand out to the community is the mouvement, dynamic, depth and daring style as Lee is great and polished but it just doesn't stand out despite looking more finished because of the very seen poses and flat backdrop.

Lee was definitely a lot more careful about sticking to traditional methods in his photos. Patrick was a lot more adventurous and took risks finding that abstract concept. Either way all these images are lovely and demonstrates how creative photography can be.

Patrick's test shot for the first photo (photo 3)was deffo better than the model's, she looks like she's posing and it's in the corner of a room. For the first shot, I feel like Patrick's idea was better, but Lee's execution for his first shot was better.

It's funny how they don't ask you to do a challenge with their expensive seamless paper backdrops vs a cheap companies seamless paper backdrops. Just like V-flat does not sponsor competitions of their extremely expensive v-flats vs normal foam boards, it's because they all look the same in photos 🙂

Their backdrops aren’t seamless paper, they are hand painted canvas backdrops. And they aren’t that expensive; they are around $200-500 depending on the size. I’ve tried painting a few of these and it was a huge pain in the ass trying to find a space large enough to paint freely and the final pattern looked horrible. As for Vflat, yeah the output doesn’t look different what so ever. The beauty with V flat world’s v flats is you can fold them up and put them in your car. You can’t do that with normal 4x8’ vflats. -P

I am not saying I could do better, but I will be saying none of these shots are amazing. Haha! Definitely agree with Lee on that. But man, you gotta work on your color grading! There is so much potential if it wasnt for the wacky colors! I do actually love the first shot, and if it was better processed it could have been pretty damn good! On the other hand - this video made me laugh out loud and look like a lunatic in the office.

Head room . Was way off on a lot of this bts. There is no way Lee won this as there wasn’t anything non conventional about the use of the backdrops . I used to use those light modifiers all the time for interviews on dedo lights The trick was to not have the pattern sharp or else it looks too fake

We have Sony mirrorless cameras. I tried the Z6 and just gave up on it. I’ll prob completely change over to Sony now that they have global sensors coming. -P

@@FStoppers Its only 24 megapixels with a base ISO of 250. Might want to hold out to second gen sensor. You really should try out the Z9 and Z8 and see what you think.

I know part of this channel is Lee trash talking during challenges, but in this case, it seemed over the top and mean spirited. Especially since he was so uncreative with his approach to the challenge. His second image was just two backdrops that had been hung up and in the final image you couldn't tell one was on an angle. Patrick at least tried new things.
