FSU belongs in the SEC, where they wouldn’t even be a top academic institution (UF, Vanderbilt, Texas, UGA, etc. all higher ranked). Most B10 schools have acceptance rates over 50% - Midwestern state schools are not academically acclaimed, outside of Northwestern, UMich, and maybe Wisco.

I live in Indiana so I’d love to have the NOLES playing in the Midwest … and I 100% agree that it’s the academic affiliation that’s attractive for FSU institutionally … which is why FSU liked the ACC. And being in the Big 10 would strike a sharp contrast to rival UF. That said - thinking strictly football - FSU fits the SEC culture better IMO. most FSU fans grew up in the south and watching SEC games. I’ve personally don’t think that Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, Northwestern etc coming to Doak Campbell stadium would draw any more of a crowd than wake forest or Duke. I believe Doak would be virtually sold out every week if FSU was playing an SEC team.

I grew up in Ohio in B1G territory right by the border of Ohio/Michigan so I’d selfishly love for FSU to be part of the action in the B1G having seen the rivalries and everything up close. But I can also see how attractive the SEC matchups and road-trips would be. No matter what I’m happy with whichever conference we would join and the new rivalries that would come out of it. Just get us out of the ACC please

Chris, as far as an academic powerhouse conference I think FSU going to the BIG 10 could be HUGE with USC and UCLA in the mix. Add that to NW, Michigan, Indiana, and Purdue, I think an ascending FSU adds a lot to the mix. Could be a very good move for the ‘Noles.

B10 schools are not particularly competitive schools - outside of N'western, UMich, and Wisconsin, they all have acceptance rates over 50% lol FSU belongs in the SEC, where they wouldn’t even be a top academic institution (Vanderbilt, UGA, UF, Texas, etc. all higher ranked).

Are you on crack? When did USC, UCLA. I also love how you switched from higher ranked to admittance %. Every B1G school is AAU (outside of Nebraska. Most SEC schools aren’t. We’re all top research schools. We’ll have 10 schools in the top 55 (FSU ranking) on USNWR ranking. The SEC will have 4. Most of the SEC is outside the top 100. The B1G only has 1 school outside the top 85. Look at Nobel prizes, ceos, avg salary, ACT/SEC scores, Ivy League grad school admits. None of it is close. SEC academics are not in the same stratosphere as B1G academics.

AAU isn't a requirement to be in the B1G. It's a completely separate organization. Kevin Warren said so at a Big Ten press conference a couple months ago but people ignored it. Even if it was a requirement, the Big Ten could waive it for any school they wanted.

If FSU is serious about the teaching hospital then by all means, the B1G is where you want to be because of the BTAA. It is unique to the Big 10 and despite people some people saying otherwise, there is collaboration among member schools, especially those with medical schools. Some of the top medical and medical research schools in the country belong; Michigan, John Hopkins, Northwestern, and soon UCLA. Your President would be wise to not be swayed by football centric mopes and stay focused on what is really important to the future of the school.

One that’s completely untrue FSU is far from broke we have been paying 9 mil a year for a HC as we are pay Norvell and the buy out of Willie Tag, we just re sodded the baseball field Football field and softball field we are re doing the baseball stadium we are building a 66 million football only facility we are putting 11 Million in upgrades to the Tucker center and moving to the B1G will pay us 45 million more a year just in sports

Hell, in the 12 team format, a 3 loss SEC team will get in over all the other 3 loss teams. The SEC is the best choice for money, for fans, and for our ability to get in the playoff.

The one sport that it affects negatively if FSU does move to the Big10 would be the women's soccer program. Yes, I know that most fans don't give a "rat's ass" about soccer. However, for those soccer fans who do attend the games and support the program know that FSU currently plays in the BEST women's soccer conference in America - the ACC. Therefore, FSU can recruit the best players. However, FSU will NOT survive in the ACC and needs to follow the money!

Until now, I've been an ardent fan of FSU to the SEC. No longer. FSU has historically kicked its own butt with poor decisions, only to later regret its mistakes, yet finds a way to repeat them. FSU had an opportunity to join the SEC previously, only to offer up the middle finger. The SEC is a premier conference in FSU's back yard but, again, the "grass looks greener". The Big 10 will no doubt add Oregon, Washington, and possibly CAL. All are AAU members. Assuming Washington and Oregon only are added, the league total will be 18. There is no doubt the Big 10 would take Notre Dame (not an AAU member). However, let's assume Notre Dame isn't interested. To reach 20, means two more positions are available for the next round of expansion. Virginia, Duke, North Carolina, Pitt, and Georgia Tech are already AAU members. The rest of the ACC are not AAU members. I know FSU claims they will pursue AAU membership. The U of Florida has been an AAU member for the past 38 years. In addition to Florida, other SEC programs that are AAU members include: Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Texas (coming aboard next year). Texas and OU were pursued by the Big 10 and you know their decision. I sincerely hope FSU is accepted by the Big 10. If not, I prefer the SEC no longer show any interest. Getting the middle finger once from FSU is forgivable but twice is one too many.

Going into the Big Ten , in my opinion , is a terrible idea. First you've all the travel costs for all the teams. Sure we'll make more money, but how much more money will we have in travel costs? Think of the fans. We can now drive to many of our games in the ACC. How many fans are driving to Ohio State, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, in the winter, to sit in freezing temps . How about the players disadvantage of playing in conditions they are just not used to playing in. What do our Florida and Georgia players know about playing in single digit temps and with snow. The logical place for us is the SEC.

What you’re not getting is FSU’s value to the big10 is exceeding the debt owed to the ACC. And every year that goes by will make FSU more attractive. FSU will be in the big10 by 2028.

@@tedm6567 show your work. This "interactions" thing is vague and unprovable, but I'll take it as a guide, but not as fact. Anyway, my point still stands. FSU, Miami, Clemson and UNC definitely need to go to the SEC and the SEC needs to invite at least a couple more ACC schools to get into Virginia and perhaps get Georgia Tech back just to keep the big ten from adding them and setting up a massive recruiting coop camp in Atlanta for Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, USC and the twelve dwarfs. Make it quick, clean, arrange for Syracuse and Pitt to land softly in the Big 12 and lets move on.

SEC fans tend to revel in their (the SEC's) success... often surfing for anything to continue the glorification of the SEC and their nominal connection to the success. In a short phrase, SEC fans worship everything SEC because they're in a frenzy because of football success... they even love the smell of fellow SEC fan's shlt. They live to worship their conference of choice. Others across America aren't quite as single minded. But the data is valuable... but there is something about on line places, just like bars, where like minded worshippers of a certain thing can go and slap each other's backs... they draw the mindless back for more, over and over again. I'm a UNC fan but I go to absolutely no UNC social media or information sites... none. I don't even know if UNC athletics has a Twitter account... or an Instagram or a Facebook... but I spend a lot of money on the Heels.
