After the FSX standard scenery were you using a demo of the Global scenery, or the Global Scenery PLUS the Australian ORBX scenery? Apparently you need the Global scenery first before you can install the regional add-on.

+Ken Gunn For the video, it was the demo version of Tasmania on top of FSX Standard. I think you are right, you need to have Global to use the regional add-on. I stand to be corrected.

I know this comment was years ago but I recently got back into FSX:SE and wanted some better scenery. I was blown away by ORBX's Pacific NW demo but came to the realization after a lot of research that the $100 FTX Global was not properly representative in any demo but rather it was all super high quality add-ons for $50 that sit on top of global. For some reason I was hoping and expecting global to be improving overall scenery (and it does) but from the few videos I've seen this far, it doesn't really feel like it improves enough to be worth $100. Esp for an entry level simmer like myself who doesn't plan on purchasing specific add-on scenery but rather just wants improved FSX global. So many areas have the most generic sandy dirt texture and a couple bushes scattered on a very flat mesh. Is there even a package that improves global for a reasonable price? $100 for FTX seems so steep for what it is..

@@r4microds Wait for a sale. They have the a couple of times a year. I just got mine in May during their May sale. I picked up the Vector library and the Global Base pack for less than $100 and I was instantly blown away by the improvement. Well worth the investment.

living in Tasmania, I can definitely say that the orbx scenery is more realistic

Hey, I found the AU Tasmania Demo and was looking to install it however in the RAR download is just a bunch more RAR files. Is there anything else I need to have to get this to work in FSX?

get FTX Central and install it from there
