Good ol KZbin algorithm showing me this now. I was living in my bands rehearsal space when this DVD came out (out of sacrifice, not hard times) and it was playing anytime no one else was there. This is hands down my favorite band. I really enjoyed the fact that you couldn't stop watching it. They take you on a journey for sure. The lyrics are very powerful as well and the way they are a fresh of breath air from others in their genre. Most bands in this genre take themselves so seriously that they are not having a good time. I actually helped invent this Genre called Metalcore in the 90s. Mike's old band Overcast was a big influence on me, then Mike got my band's demo and cd after I was in a new band after hs. Then Killswitch started and I hear some of my old band in there. It was a tight scene in the Northeast HC scene, so, we all know each other tona degree. I know like half the Metalcore bands out there, we played Hellfest and Boston Metal Fest 99 and Toured with Unearth. We also made them more Metal. They were much more HC meets Korn with 7 strings and still learning. Thanked on their first album. I know like 6 dudes with signature guitars now.
@mr.keiser42592 жыл бұрын
This is actually a sick story. Many people attribute metalcore to like 4 bands but in reality it was just hardcore becoming more “metallic”. I studied this entire subculture (even as someone who has been very into the music and stuff for the past 12 years) for a college project and through so much research I learned a lot about the music and where it comes from. Now when I listen to music is easier to point out where certain sonic styles come from. From breakdowns to 2step and fast drums and stuff. It made me fall in love with heavy music more. I strongly believe metal and hardcore is where most music evolution happens and then it goes into other genres of music. The amount of talent in bands in the scenes all around the country is endless. That and the dedication musicians have to make music is something I’ve always loved about this subgenre of music.
@KelticKabukiGirl2 жыл бұрын
@@mr.keiser4259 I actually started out Metal and got into HC due to my HS band Drummer who went to join Brother's Keeper. Some of us were HC and Punk first, some Metal first, then we all got together. My band was one of the first to ever gig with Dillinger Escape Plan and essentially the Dimitri Years before they got signed and before they had a name. At the first show they were just that crazy band that plaued Raining Blood. We had similar stage show but my heavy Iron Maiden and Death Metal influences made us more melodic as well as the Emo influenced rhythm guitarist and singer. He did songs about love and shit before most HC bands ever touched it. Straight Edge sometimes we had VeganCore in us too. Look up Since the Fall we have our EP/demo 1998 and CD 1999. We took Unearth on their first tour actually. I did some timeline reseach and realized we both had our first mini Northeast tour together set up by our singer Steve Cossman. I am actually trying to reboot my old band tuned lower and me just doing vocals. We still have brand recognition and with the Mathcore qnd Metalcore resurgence..... just gotta try now that I can!

KSE musically reminds me a lot of Breaking Benjamin, famous for "The Diary of Jane". Brazilian singer and guitarist Michel Oliveira does a great cover of this KSE song: *Killswitch Engage -The End Of Heartache - Vocal Cover By Michel Oliveira* Another Brazilian band I enjoy is called Theoria de Allice, "all ice". Most of their songs are in Portuguese, and if you react to Brazilian artists and bands, don't say I didn't warn you if you see lots of comments in Portuguese. Their new song Devaneios, "Daydreams", has the female singer singing with the drummer doing background vocals and one of the guitarists doing background growls. Talk about harmony! 😅
