There's a mod for FTL called Extended Pursuit Indicator. This shows you how many jumps you have in a sector before the Rebels get to you. Handy for planning out your jumps.

I think it was a mistake not getting the crew TP. Rocks are surprisingly solid boarders. And taking over some early ships can get you a massive scrap lead.

If you're up against a ship with no systemless rooms, the Hull Missile is still as effective as the Artemis. There's no reason to not use it.

I'm curious why the crew teleporter was a bad option in the first sector store? 90 scrap, you had 95. Rocks outfight any crew in the early levels due to their health, so you could've easily won fights without firing missiles - or one missile perhaps, if you shoot the medbay when the enemies run away. Saving you missiles plus increased scrap seems like it would've been a winning combo.

Saw Crew Teleporter, extra Rock crew, and Fire Bombs all by sector 2. Basically the perfect Rock Cruiser build for crew killing/max salvage.

You're talking about luck, my first playthrough with the Bulwark I got a Halberd Beam at the first map's Exit. Then the second jump in the second map I got a Burst Laser. Didn't even get to the final boss though, too bad, it was a lucky beginning.

In early sectors, get level 2 Pilotting assp when you go into nebulae. There is high chance for blue option giving free stuff

Missiles are definitely still an option. I think you really should have gotten the Explosive Replicator. With it, you could potentially not worry the rest of the game while using your missiles. The Artemis is really good at dealing damage and knocking out systems with just 1 power. Its weakness, high ammo consumption, is addressed by the replicator.

rocks make excellent boarders. the extra hp means they are less likely to die on the enemy ship and their immunity to fire means, like the lanius, you can use environmentals to give them a huge combat boost. They are arguably even better than lanius in that regard as fires will disable the system, vacuum will not.

Engi is always go to bcs of how many blue options he gives you in events. and if you have a hole in your hull if you open all indoors doors (sounds weird) it will give enough o2 for people in room so they dont take damage while repairing. sry for my english :D

Type A: I'll admit I'll had to restart alot trying to get the achievements. Type B: Don't remember too much of my run but I did like it. Got to sector 8 resiable okay. Type C: Loved this ship. The crystal blaster was fantastic and using the crystal crewmember (who yes can unlock the crystal ship) to shut out intruders until they suffocated was great.

Rock B is a really great ship. Fire Bomb + Rock Boarding is really, really good. Just avoid the abandoned sectors.

The Bulwark doesn't even have an airlock. It seems to me it is a good idea to leave a few hullbreaches just so you can vent rooms if you need to.

You should look at installing the captains edition mod as it adds allot of extra scenarios and extends on the game mechanics while also adding in more ships and a bigger variety in planets.

@@krios4141 What, having a halberd beam suddenly makes it the best ship in the game? The Halberd beam isn't even that good, and the Stealth B comes with a Glaive Beam that pierces two shields if you want to go that far. Mantis B and C come with a game winning OP 4 man teleporter and large medbay / large clonebay with a bunch of Mantises and no downside, they're extremely OP and by far the easiest ships in the game to beat hard mode with, even without pausing the game if you want to handicap yourself.
