I too have only seen one person survive the giant alien spider's prompt and it was also nothernlion. I was watching and clenching as he said sure why not or something along those lines and was incredibly surprised to see there is actually a win condition on that event.

Some of the blue options for that event are pretty neat too, the bio beam nets you the same reward as killing the bugs yourself which happens to be the highest compared to the other blue options

@@Revolution9machspeed Discord is a free app, if you have access to KZbin. You can get Discord. You either download the app for free and make an account. Or you can use your browser. I think you have the best chance of it getting picked up if you go through the normal channels.

At start, Pravus was talking about fire weapons. Fire weapons have a secondary bonus. If you kill all the crew, you get that bonus. But if you wait around, fire keeps burning, wrecking the ship and more loot from that!

So, because the Athena started with no crew, it counts as a drone, and all rooms are permanently manned and automatically repaired by the ship itself. Crew members can override this with higher skills, but that's why your sensors and doors are manned.

IIRC because your ship normally starts with 0 crew members the game treats you as an A.I ship even when you finish getting crew members so your doors and sensors and stuff are always manned. Could be wrong of course.

The reason why the Athena is always manned on doors, sensors and helm is because it starts with no crew technically, so the game treats the ship as if it was an AI. Systems will self heal as well.

FTL has a bug where if a ship starts with no crew, it'll act like an auto-ship and "man" all systems.

The increased cost for the first shield layer isn't actually something from the mod, there's a Zoltan ship in the base game that doesn't have default shields and needs that same 100 scrap to get it's first layer (not counting the super shield) An aside: I don't like the Zoltan cruisers, they're all pretty lame.
