This has never happened to me but can I ask why? without lvl 2 piloting you'd need to send another crew to stall your MC'd pilot, not entirely sure but you would only lose manning bonus not all evasion when you're inside but not manning pilot

I've been casually returning to the game after a few years, and your Weapon tier list serves as a great reminder, thanks! You want to use Cloaking 1 against the Flagship. This allows it to cycle faster and be ready for every special attack in stage 2 or 3. You still want to upgrade it to 2-3 so it has resilience against getting hit. I always used to use Hacking 3 against the Flagship's shields, but recently I discovered that Hacking 1 against its piloting usually works just as well. One guaranteed volley can open up its shields for a beam and/or guarantee a missile/bomb hit on a key component. I have a video request, although it's not something you can guarantee: I want to see a Chain Vulcan victory.

FTL is such a fantastic game and I'm glad the community for it is still alive and well. It was the first game I ever made mods for and my old custom challenge ship is still one of my favorite mods I've ever made for a game

Fun fact: did you know that the "weapons" that the Flagship uses are actually considered "Artillery" and not weapons? It's something that I didn't pick up on at first.

I also didn't know until a recent Mantis B run. I was up against an Auto-Scout with a Hermes, and had to cycle between the Defense and Boarding to not get rekt. Eventually he ran out of missiles, and I was able to just let the Boarding drone do its job.

I'm cool with random ships, but I will also suggest a ship this once just incase you want a request. Try doing a vid on Slug A, had one of my own god runs with it (purely through a bunch of free good weapon drops like flaks and dual lasers). Bonus points if you can manage to use its gimmick gun bio beam for a little while before you sell it.

You actually could have been 100% immune to ion damage, those augments do stack! It's pretty sweet

I don't know why you pretty much always seem to ignore the backup battery. It seems to me, it's pretty useful anywhere past midgame, it's basically 2 free bars of energy for less than the cost of the reactor upgrades and there's a lot of cheesing you can do with it. Especially if you use the backup bars to power temporary systems like the Cloak or Mind Control -- if the battery times out while these are ioned/cooling down, you've basically cheated the game out of locking power into that system. And towards the endgame, once you're close to a maxed out reactor, you can drop 50 scrap to expand it from 2 to 4 bars, which is not only cheaper than the more expensive end reactor upgrades, but just like Zoltan crew it's effective energy beyond the hard reactor limit. I think the only real downside is that since it's in a room it can potentially be damaged like any other subsystem, depriving you of the extra power potential. And if it gets hacked, you lose reactor power... though those are situational. But then again, you actually win FTL games... Edit: Oh, almost forgot, backup battery is AMAZING if you get caught in a plasma storm. Since its output doesn't get halved by the storm, it gives you a significant advantage in such a power loss.

great video, i love using fire weapons when i get the chance. correct me if im wrong, but doesnt the fire beam work a little different than other beams in the way it will burn tiles that it passes over, while other beam only hit rooms. so if you were to hit a large series of tiles on the boss instead of trying to hit rooms i think it would be more effective? but maybe im wrong, am not a great player. am gonna watch more of your vids now.

Firebeams seem to do best when targeting the O2 & medbays for crew kills. Ion work good for tearing down shields without damaging the ship. Hacking O2 is hi•la•ri•ous BTW

Not sure if this is correct, but at 1:36:22 you said you'll scum the flagship and set hacking on the shields. Was the scummy strategy to depower hacking so that their defense drone didn't shoot it down or something? I've never heard of anything like that so just curious but that's what it looked like.

@@spearmintz1 think about it right, there would be a l o t more content to cover (for both your own time and the channel) just as an example making more tier lists as there are ALOT more things to tier, more “how to beat the X with Y”, And it will probably *slow down* any burnout you may have due to it being ‘all new’. Also in itself may attract more viewers due to it catering for the wider ftl community

Interesting video, but the play is not so close to ideal) The artillery beam could be maxed much earlier - 20 seconds cooldown can decide a battle, especially when you have not other beam weapon. Missed opportunity to buy battery - + 4 extra energy for 35+50(upgrade) scrap is good for battle with Flagship. At 8th level - I usually fly to the Base only when jus 1 jump left to the rebels capture - there are lots of grinding opportunities). Also I usually don't keep 4 or more energy on engines - I put extra energy on them only when enemy shoots on my ship. With Cloak ready - I keep engines energy at minimum, or even zero - when I activate Cloak, I get energy from shields (lifehack...). With 100% dodge you can't be hit, and after dodging you can switch the energy back to the shields while cloak is still running - the shields will restore.
