I love that I was able to find an ftl youtuber in 2021, right as I'm getting back into it. Love your videos! What mods are you using? Particularly the one that gives you a visual on rebel fleet jumps?

Glad you’re enjoying it!:) the only mods I use in my videos are the Extended pursuit indicator mod, Detailed ship greebles, Crew Diversity Mod, and Pretty shields mod. I have a video on how to install mods on the channel if anyone is it interested and needs help!

You want to use the back battery temporary power with hacking or cloaking or mind control. Because when the backup battery temporary power goes away. Cloaking, etc. will still be on cooldown. And when Cloaking is ready again, backup battery will be back again. Nice run. I will keep cloaking empty and then hit backup battery right before I use cloaking to power it up. Then the timing always works out.

I feel the Hull Laser was a big mistake for this run once you had the Halberd Beam. Flak + Halberd = win in most cases due to Halberd's shield piercing. Also, walking into the final zone with three shields and over four hundred credits? Probably would've been wise to buy a fourth shield with that cash like half a zone earlier.

You are right. He made a big mistake not selling immediately all the crystal weapons at the store. Due to their longer recharge time their aren't a viable option after the appearance of 2-shield ships in the game. He should have sold all the crystal weapons and the crystal vengeance + the hull laser. With the money earned, upgrade the weapons system to the 5th level + 3 system energy. This is enough to damage and destroy even 3-shield ships, and you still have 2 available weapons slots to upgrade. The small bomb in the store was also a good option to kickstart the combat phase.

Fun run to watch, I think you're not getting the most out of flak though. By aiming it at small sections on the edge of ships some of the shrapnel is likely to miss even if the enemy's evasion is at 0. If you aim at a big section with other sections around it then every piece of flak will hit something unless evaded.

It did get patched, but if you play with the crystal crew on Rock C you can still skip the other steps, it just won’t be marked as a quest immediately as if you have Ruwen, and will just be a random beacon instead.

It's definitely still the best way as you can luck into it when going to Rock Homeworlds. You also have a cloning bay there, so if you get Ruwen, you have some insurance if you get a nasty event that kills her.

Yeah that's how I did it. Extra crystal member for a blind event isn't the worst insurance, and having cloning for Ruwen is also not the worst thing in the world. The ship itself isn't awful--should get you to sector 8 without much problem on Normal at least.

I take back everything nice I said about this game… that difficulty is beyond irritating for a game that utilizes punishing rng that is always favoring anything ANYONE but the player; it is essentially sci-fi flavored masochism made by lazy devs who use this ridiculously pugnacious play by ‘random’ (again player loses is the theme) numbers to hide it’s brevity. I like the game, but it needs more meat, and less cancer.

After you understand enough about the game and strategies the rng becomes much less punishing and you start to win more easily

@@Mcwsmurf1 I win, but sometimes it FORCES a loss, and you just recognize when you should just restart right off the bat, which is a bad game mechanic to hide shallow content. It is literally the only beef I have with the program, I think it is a great game otherwise.
