In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video, we uncover 4 facts about the shadowy, Tamriel-wide organisation known as the Thieves Guild.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The Thieves Guild is actually almost necessary, as it seems to be amazing at keeping their respective province's economy healthy by constantly cycling money from those that hoard it.

You should have the option to destroy the Thieves Guild equal to Dark Brotherhood.

I think that would have a too large impact on the game. The dark brotherhood is just an assassins group that no one expects much from, they went almost unheard of after the listener died and most people would just get a mercenary or Assassin instead. The thieves guild has contacts on high places in everyone would know if it was destroyed, due to the amount of guard payed off and the black briars reliance on it if you destroyed it riften and its meadery would probably crumble and mercenaries would be after you 24/7

Yeah Oblivion thieves guild actually had rules, you were forced to sell stolen goods, and more importantly it was shadowy to some decree. Skyrim: You go into a city, and the FIRST MAN who speaks to you literary tells you where to go and who to seek to join. In DAYLIGHT FRONT OF 2 GUARDS!

Well, the Thieves in Riften are as brazen as they are because the Jarl is merely a figurehead. Maven Black-Briar is effectively the Hold's true governor, and the guards are as deeply in her pocket as the Thieves are. Oh sure, the Guards arrest you if they SEE YOU thieving, but this is merely a formality. The city's as corrupt as Markarth, only more open about it.

It seemed to me like Skyrims thieves guild had strayed from the rest a bit, they definitely seemed a bit more immoral than those in the previous games. Just the way they start you off getting "collections" from the business owners and the fact that they're so in the pocket of Maven

Am I the only one who think the Thieves Guild is lazy in Skyrim. Like, you barely steal anything!! In oblivion all it was was stealing shit and going on fun heists. (I have yet to play the thieves guild in morrowind I am still doing the fighters guild). But in Skyrim you just fight draughr and mercenaries and falmer and you steal like 1 thing. Where in Oblivion you cant kill anyone and you always steal stuff!

Funko Pop Figure Reviews In oblivion you can only kill monsters but not citizens. Also a reason behind that is because Skyrim Guild is desperate and has to do anything just to survive.

Jah N when you say you can't kill citizens are you talking about while in a guild or just in general? I remember being able to kill anyone and if you killed an important person you wouldn't be able progress further into the main quest. Kakakakakacocaine

Dr. Rockso When you're doing a special job you cant kill anyone unless the Gray Fox (who is also annoyingly absent from Skyrim) says he will pay the bloodprice.

Always hated the fact that Skyrims Thieves guild is basically just a nocturnal cult, Oblivion thieves guild didn't need the favour of a daedra, they were just a bunch of badass thieves.

I wish all the guilds had options to destroy them like the dark brotherhood. It would make for good roleplay considering so many people talk badly about the thieves guild. Maybe if you joined the companions, be able to attack the college of winterhold for antimagic or take out the thievesguild because they have no honor. Etc

The oblivion noctournal quest makes security obsolete. Can be started at lvl 5, easy to get, easy to finish, yields perfect lockpick

Fudgemuppet i have a build idea that you probably will never see Race: nord or high elf(depending on which one you choose) The Nord or High elf was a proud imperial or thalmor agent but when they did a secret mission they were captured and lost there memory and the other side made the imperial or thalmor agent turn to there side and that person will serve the other side faithfully. Sorry im not good at making a backstory, that's what you are good at.

Hey fudgemuppet you should redo your necrowarp build and add alteration as stability would buff the slow time shout even more and the atronach perk plus necromage and the atronach stone would give you 100 % spell absorption

Just to add to the power if you used enchanting and alchemy you cold get your destruction cost to zero and make the slow time shout last even longer with a fortify alteration potion . This would allow you to use the master destruction spells for no cost then using the master shock spell to obliterate dragons all in slow motion

Gosh, am I the only one here who actually enjoyed the Thieves Guild? 😂 They're immoral, most of them are jerks but damn, I liked it so much. The quests were entertaining for me and I loved Karliah and Brynjolf, despite his personality (well, he was voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, I think that have played a big role in developing my appreciation for this NPC 😂).

Werewolf Hoster Nope, vex and delvin are flagged as essential due to the stones of barenziah quest, there's also the face sculpter who is a membar of le guild, flagged as an immortal merchant.
