It always fascinated me that the First Era lasted almost 3000 years and no era since has lasted nearly as long. And each Era after gets progressively shorter and shorter.

I like to think that since technological and societal developments often advance at an exponential rate, shorter eras are recorded to fit that sort of scale

As more detailed written records are produced in each new era, too. More recorded history per timespan means more history to manage. Thus, historians need to split the density sooner.

Would be cool if we got a TES spin-off set in the 1st era. Like playable races would be different. Like you would have no Dunmer, but you would have Chimer. There would be playable Snow Elves, Dwemer, and Ayleids.

@@profrickshaw But we learn of their disappearance. We know they (the Dwemer) did some experiments with the heart of Lorkan and shit happened (Numidium). There's a little quest with an enchanter at the college of Winterhold. Him, with your help, recreates (on an individual scale) what happened to the dwarves. There's even a theory where the world of Tamriel is a dream, the collective dream of the Gods. Vivec of the tribunal became a literal god because he fundamentally learned of this and accepted his place within, instead of disappearing (which would have happened to the dwarves, since their tinkering with a piece of a god questionned their place within the dream, yada yada). I should get back on the lore it makes my head hurts haha. Unless I missed something, it's hardly a secret anymore. What I want to know is what's happening to the Numidium. Like, what's happening to it's eternal war with the high elves, because it's still ongoing, but in the past, frickin Dragon Breaks. I want to understand Dragon Breaks.
@profrickshaw
@profrickshaw 6 жыл бұрын
@@CumradFluffy good point. These races aren't actually that mysterious. And Bethesda isn't actually trying to hide anything about them. A 1st Era game would be awesome. Set it during the 1008 year Dragon Break for all I care.

Because he didn't mention it in the video, Harkon, lord of clan Volkihar, found out about the Tyranny of the Sun prophecy and Serana was sealed away some time before the Alessian Slave Rebellion. Relative to when _TES V: Skyrim_ begins, 4E 201, that makes Serana over 4,000 years old.

A rather common thing to happen in Tamriel. The Nords from Atmora sailed to the lands of the Snow Elves and eventually claimed those lands entirely for themselves, as Skyrim. You might say the original inhabitants, the Snow Elves, met a fate worse than extermination. Cyrodiil was a dominion of Ayleids, but humans took over and slaughtered or drove away all the Ayleids.

I know this is 10 months old, but there weren't any replies so I'll give my two cents if you're still interested. Good old Reman has a lot of myths surrounded his early life, and one of them is that he was found as a baby with the Amulet of Kings in his hand (by who I forget). He was supposedly given Akatosh's blessing (and the status of dragonborn if I remember correctly), basically restarting the progression of lighting the Dragon fires. Now, after his descendants' assassination there's a 400 or so year period that the Dragon fires are dead, as well as the period between the end of the Alessian empire and Reman's start, so it's not always lit, but then again you have the events of ESO in the 2nd era before Septim where Molag Bal and other Daedra try and conquer Tamriel. So, it's not without consequence

Yes! More please! As a newcomer to TES having only discovered Skyrim last Christmas when my son gave me a copy of SSE as a gift. I very much appreciate FudgeMuppet videos as they provide so much detail that I missed not having played the previous TES titles. So, Yes! More lore Please! PS: I am no stranger to RPG's though having started on paper & dice RPG's in 1980. Thanks for all the awesome videos guys! Also, another big thanks to my son, Andrew, for turning me on to what has become my all time favorite RPG!

phatbassanchor it really is a spectacle to behold as far as games go, I still play oblivion which even tho hasn’t particularly aged well is such an amazing world to explore, really takes immerses the senses wether you happen to be fighting a war or building a home on a lakefront.. literally building it from the ground up 😅 and this is all on Xbox without fancy mods, I to thank your son! 👍🏻

Love the videos and personally love elder scrolls lore. This is probably my 3rd time watching this one since it was made but I just realized the name pronunciation skills that you guys have! 20:30 this guy pulls out the most difficult freaking name of all time and runs through it with ease. How many takes of that did you use? Jesus!

As much as I wanna say this is the best lore summary I've watched, you talk at such a consistent yet slightly too fast pace and with almost too much a mono tone, that its easy to lose track and have to rewind, alot

i loved the video, but still, the problem to me was de music volume, it was almost too loud so his voice would get lost in the background and i couldn't pay attention to it without really making an effort :(

Book of circles, love that reference. Book of five rings by musashi is objectively a good read for anyone A man spends his whole life thinking of killing and not getting killed in glorified knife fights. Then when hes old he's like okay now that no one is trying to stab me I got some inspired stuff to say about life. Maybe paint a flower or two.

Good video but for me it quickly began to suffer from the same problem Tolkien’s silmarillion has in that there’s so many important names, dates and events of consequence it all starts to blur together and you can’t possibly keep track of it all without making your own lists. Good video though, love the thorough research 👍🏻
