The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The third era contrasts the fourth so much. From a bastard son of an emperor sacrificing himself to save the world to an emperor, who supposedly wields goldbrand, that doesn’t even fight back when an assassin comes for him. The great houses of morrowind being so obscenely powerful and wealthy that they can disobey the empire’s laws without repercussion to house Hlaalu members living in slums with the other houses on the brink of collapse. The dark brotherhood being feared by the common populace to it crumbling into nothing more than a bandit gang led by someone who doesn’t even follow the five tenants. And the mages guild being disbanded to create the synod council which just hordes artifacts.

Knowledge ebbs and flows and the tides of time in this human story of a videogame shows alot. Before the mages guild was even banded and created, it was illegal to learn magic and in many places illegal to even learn how to read and write. Maybe Tamriel will be going into another era of wide spread Men and Mer slavery just like it did back in the earlier Era of widespread Ayelid rule where everyone including elves were kept as slaves for one single empire that spread the entire continent of Nirn. Now it will be the elves how rule, if the terrible Thalmor succeed in gaining power. But Talos alone can not save everyone from the High Elves, because they just want to make their own empire the same way Men made their own under Talos. It's more of the same, sort of.
@waltrz

Now did Martin actually get crowned emperor right before Dagon attacked? If so he’s gotta have like the shortest reign in the history of Tamriel, about 10 minutes. Also like the most successful emperor ever, he saved the entire continent from a deadric prince in about 10 minutes.

The crazy thing about this is that with all these times that the crown changes hands they all are able to light the dragon fires even if they aren't blood related to the Septim dynasty. Which means that they were all either already dragonborn or granted dragon blood by Akatosh. It makes me wonder if they had set up a line of succession beyond the royal family would Akatosh have accepted it and allowed the lighting of the dragon fires, averting the oblivion crisis?
@BlueShadow7777

I was thinking that too... the oblivion crisis makes no sense looking back. Know this is an older comment but I always assumed the Dawn killed Uriel's three sons and their whole families, so spouses, children, and possible great-grandchildren of Uriel VII. Ironically, if Martin hadn't been a priest then there could have been some spare heirs of the spare heir, so unless Martin's old Sanguine party days resulted in an ultra ultra hidden child then the only possible relations of the Septims left would probably be in High Rock, northern Hammerfell, or some very distant Nordic families.

I've noticed that throughout the Elder Scrolls franchise, the dominating factions tend to be knocked down a peg every now and then, usually by some otherworldly influence, until the new faction begins dominating, and gets knocked down like their predecessor, almost as if the Aurbis is trying to maintain a balance of power. When men first came to Tamriel, the entire continent was ruled by mer (and dragons, I guess) and then through various events of supposed divine interference, they rose up and took most of Tamriel after having been dominated. For a while, I've thought that the recent downfall of the Empire following the Oblivion Crisis is the gods letting the elves take the reigns again for a while, in order to lecture men on their centuries of warmongering and petty infighting.

@@viveka2994 the dwemer clans fought a lot an example is the Athereum wars , and they probably didn’t use the snow elves as slaves because they were pretty useless when blind,and if they needed slaves they could use the automatons, so the snow elves were likely used to test the effect of tones on elves

Watching your videos made me play Skyrim again. For fun before I started back on Skyrim, I played through the whole series from Arena to Oblivion. TES has come a long way lol... although I DO think that the procedural generation in Daggerfall makes it one of the best and most unique RPGs out there (outdated graphics and controls notwithstanding). It's just so BIG. I literally could have been playing Daggerfall since it came out and still not run out of things to do... but anyway, I can't wait for your 4th Era video and I wonder if you guys have any more wacky awesome builds for us? I did a playthrough with your Necromancer build and I never thought that playing a mage could be so much fun. It gave me a chance to do all of the grotesque evil things that don't fit a lot of my playthroughs... my guy was eating corpses, murdering townsfolk, raising zombies and just generally being a scourge upon the land. What fun! I think my next playthrough will be an honorable warrior type. I'll have to peek through your builds to see what looks like fun... any suggestions?

Slightly off topic but I want to say that if ES6 is in hammerfell or high rock then they should make quests about Orsicinium where you either side with the humans to destroy orscinium or side with the Orcs to rebuild or defend it. They should make something like the Hearthfire or base building like fallout 4, and you get to rebuild Orscinium. It will be great fun to be able to rebuild an entire city yourself!!!
