08:55 Conclusion
Parts used:
Toyota 23300-50090 fuel filter assembly
Toyota 90923-07002 fuel tube connector green clip (shown re-used, but green clip is sold separately if replacing with new)
Tools used:
14mm flare nut spanner (or open-end spanner)
19mm flare nut spanner (or open-end spanner)
10mm socket
Socket wrench with extension to suit above socket
Paper towels
Small plastic container (for spills)
Safety glasses and nitrile gloves (strongly recommended)
Tightening specification - flare nut on high pressure pipe union (back side of fuel filter):
After applying a light coat of engine oil to the flare nut, use Toyota SST 09023-12700 on a torque wrench with fulcrum length of 30cm, with torque wrench set to 25 lb-ft (34 Nm).
This arrangement using the 30cm torque wrench with SST (spanner extension) is equivalent to tightening the nut to 28 lb-ft (38 Nm).

I was able to do this job easily by following this video. The worst part was the bottom 10mm bolt. Much appreciated. Note: fuel pump power is on driver’s side on left hand drive models.

Thanks Will, we really appreciate your feedback. Yes, thanks for clarifying that. We have tried in more recent videos to just say left and right rather than passenger/driver side, as in this case the connector is on the left side regardless of which market the car is from. Thanks

Was able to change mine out today. If you don't run the fuel out of the system before starting the job, it's not a big deal because it only drips a little bit out of the lines anyway. Most of the fuel is in the filter, so you have sort of plug up the holes as you twist and rotate it out. Still want to be careful, though. Thanks for the video!

Just did the fuel filter and I'll be buggered how you got that harness off underneath the car? I cracked the harness using a pair of pliers for a little bit of purchase and decided to leave well enough alone. I ended up disconnecting the battery but otherwise followed your directions. Cheers for the video.

Thanks that’s a great informative installation process. What type of steering wheel is that?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Michael. This steering wheel is from a Toyota Camry but there are other options. Your best bet would be to look through the 100 series Facebook group which has plenty of info on what fits and what is required to make the controls work. There are both hard-wired and Bluetooth options. Hope this helps!

Excellet video! Question, if you don't mind: would be the FF's part number and activity be the same for TLC 100 with 1FE-HZ?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! We're not aware of any 1FE-HZ engine, but this fuel filter is unique to the V8 petrol engine shown, i.e. other 100 series Landcruiser engines use different fuel filter part numbers.

@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Not really, no. But there are many factors at play. If you are having issues with high fuel consumption and have tried other things, this is a relatively inexpensive thing to try. Best of luck!

@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Seng! Our warranty and service manual shows that the fuel filter should be replaced every 80,000 kms (50,000 miles) or 48 months (4 years), whichever comes first. You can see a snapshot from that manual on screen right near the start of the video

My son followed these instructions and replaced my fuel filter. Seemed to go well, but now it’s leaking fuel from around that green clip. Seems like there’s a fair bit of play there. Any suggestions?
@2ndGearLow
@2ndGearLow Жыл бұрын
Hi Larson, I'd start by looking at whether the correct part number was used for the fuel filter, as if the nozzle is a different size it won't seal at the connection inside where the green clip is. You could also look at replacing the green clip if it's not holding properly, as these are very inexpensive - part number 90923-07002.
@LarsonHicksShow
@LarsonHicksShow Жыл бұрын
@@2ndGearLow Seems like the clip is clipping fine. Not sure on the part # for the unit we replaced. Seems like the right unit - except for this issue.
