Fuel Pump Sender Corrosion & Fix

My favorite DGGM impala SS is back in the shop. This time my job was to figure out the no-start condition. Seemed like no fuel. Yup...the fuel pump relay would "click" but the pump would not turn on.
Turns out the in-tank wiring was corroded, (Q-16 fuel was used a few years ago). The 400 lph pump was saved and re-used. Racetronix bulkhead wiring for the win.

Factory B-body sending units were junk 20 years ago. If you choose to keep it, clean and solder the wires and terminals, replace the corrugated fuel hose with a new one from Amazon, and calibrate the resistor with a soldering iron and careful use of solder. Otherwise just buying new sending unit.

Ever change the plastic fuel pipe on these instead of using hose? My plastic pipe was still good when I changed the pump a few years back Car only has like 48k on it everything looked new. The Plastic fuel pipes seem strange to swap out and get back into the fuel pump holder

I think that plastic pipe would work even better than a hose. I agree with you.

So my wires were melted when I had to swap mine. Pretty sure the previous owner liked to drive it empty a lot. I also had to replace clogged injectors. What’s the best option to fix that digital speedometer? I’ve tried reflowing the solder and have had some luck. But the display will still intermittently go dark.

I have never tried fixing the speedo.
