Fuel Rats: Case Red (Elite: Dangerous)

For some time now, I have wanted to create a cinematic tribute to the work that the Fuel Rats do, jumping into action to save clients who have run out of fuel anywhere in the galaxy of Elite: Dangerous. The most challenging of those rescues being the clients that come to us without any fuel left at all, the clock ticking on their survival from the remaining oxygen in their life support system, as the Fuel Rats mobilize to respond to the Case Red.

A wonderful tribute, thanks! The fuel rats saved a member of my group who had been out exploring for 6 months. He was on his way home, when 3500ly from the bubble, due to a personal incident involving daddy duty, he ran out of fuel. The rats saved him as he breathed the last 48 seconds of air in his cobra. We are forever grateful to the Rats!!

@Proton1 They refuse armed escort because it would only slow them down. The heavily engineered battleships would not be able to keep up with the stripped down ratting ships, and in code reds every second counts.

The fuel rats are invaluable to ED - we should be able to call them via the in-game functions tab ;D That plus a emergency survival mode for the ship - to maximize oxygen ^-^

I perfectly agree! Hey! Maybe this can be one of the things Frontier actually does, instead of botching bug patches that don't work! The Fuel Rats... Well, what can be said about them that hasn't already been said? Nobility is only one of the many words that can be given to those who risk life, limb and credit to ensure we can play the game. They fight back the black, the griefers that would leave us stranded, and give us hope. Like this video showed me, there's good, and there's bad people. Then, there's the Rats. THE backbone of the galactic community. And a group I would be honored to aid. Actually, that gives me an idea... Let's all of KZbin get the word around; establish a military presence to protect the Rats! People are bound to begin targeting them to cripple enemies, and that CANNOT HAPPEN!!!!

They are also an independent player controlled group, for it to become official in anyway that would need to change. Let it stay as is, fdev controlling them wouldn't be good, they can barely manage the game as is.

Extremely well done, the voice over artist did an especially great job. However the video is only a small fraction of the quality of the Rats themselves, what a fantastic group. Early in my Elite life I ran out of fuel and found the FuelRats - and when I did I thought "this must be a joke" and I kept reading. Only after post after post referencing this amazing group did I finally ask them for help - and help they did. While I felt rather stupid for running out of fuel the experience of getting saved by them in game was just fantastic and made me fall even deeper in love with Elite. Well done FuelRats!!!

I love that the fuel rats are actually in the game as in game advertisements. Similar to the falcon delacy ships or federation adverts in game that you see next to and inside stations. This trailer for them is something special. One of gaming's most noble and selfless groups. o7

My mate is new to the ED and we were trying to meet up. He is still learning to use the galaxy map which is temperamental at the best of times. Long story short, he ran out of fuel... we found the Fuel Rats through google and thought we would try them on a whim... Lo and behold they answered and flew out and gifted my mate some fuel!!! I've never encountered anything like this in a game before... Big ups for the Fuel Rats, you guys are seriously amazing... cannot believe this actually exists... we pissed ourselves laughing when this actually works... Fuel Rats should be given a station in ED, they deserve it.

It took me this long to realize: Fuel rats have to carry those limpets at all times, in all of their ships (well, at least those that they are on call in), sacrificing module space regardless of what they are doing. Then again, I suspect most are in a position where they do not need to be peak efficient at their "day job". A long distance trader sacrificing one or two modules will still make money, a miner will be full just that little bit sooner. But if you have all the ships and the money you want, I suppose that it not a problem. So thank you Fuel Rats for being the heroes the ED universe needs.
