Well done on your biltong pronunciation, and thanks for the good info. Regards from South Africa

Thanks for the advice Mr. Bitter. Your anecdotes about running on a low carb diet are very helpful!

I've found that once you are fat adapted, the body doesn't process carbs well and I actually feel worse if I introduce carbs mid workout. I think simply going longer between hard workouts (anything above high tempo), and letting your glycogen stores naturally come back up from protein and fats.

Do you find you can run high intensity workouts on fat as your primary energy source ?

Product links? Did you say “S Phil’s race plus product” at timestamp 8:15?

SFuels Race+ was the product. They have a new one called Zone 5 as well.

I'm working through your vids, love them! Could you go into ( or help guide ) someone that lives the keto life , prepping for a 3.5 to 4.5 hour race, but is interested in carb loading ( or if you even think thats beneficial to try and have best of both worlds for race day? )

Thanks for checking them out! Sure, I can do something on this topic. I may start doing some Q&A/Topic style livestreams. This might be a good topic to kick one of those off.

This is pretty much where I'm at and what got me to this specific video. I've been aware of Zach since he did the JRE podcast many years ago. I'm a cyclist that's been fat adapted and keto for nearly 6 yrs now. My current issue is that I've gotten into Leadville and my training volume has jumped up. Likewise, my intensity has gone up a good bit. Thus, I think I've well outpaced my ability to fat fuel only and need some carb supplementation. I'm trying to work toward some targeted carb loading or maybe during training/event carbs. Would love to see more of Zach's take on this topic. FYI- my training rides can be 3-4 hrs with some zone 3-4 work (with occasional bumps into zone 5)

Haven't needed fueling for 140 mile bike rides or for running marathons. What do you think of exogenous ketones? Have you tried them? Thanks!

Hey Zach, when do you take your carbs pre race? Or do you only do carbs during the race? If you do pre - do have your carbs first thing in the morn - or - a certain window before the race?

I hate how many people say your body "stores carbs" as that is false. Your body stores glucose as glycogen. That is not the same thing.

What do the leanest and fastest runners eat? Sugar! Even Zach smashes sugar. Look what he is seen eating in races.

@@joedigiacomo1777ha! Yeah, advocates in general rarely actually care about anything but the attention, which basically eliminates any desire for nuance.

Lean? You mean sarcopenic because they don't eat enough protein.

@getfitwithNatasha is a classic attention seeker. Probably going to end up with an OF account and an empty home.
