Man it's extremely refreshing seeing an old Bago revived after watching Weston Champlin absolutely mutilate one for no reason! I've noticed a shocking amount of short old motorhomes had the 318 as well. My '73 Titan has one. It's honestly not the worst, but they definitely could've done better, considering even the smaller vans at least had the 360.

Lol, wow, you guys make me feel great about my 72 bought out in CA last year. Stupid doghouse cover kept blowing off on 101, but aside from an ignition coil that blew on the way over to Maine, it's been pretty damn great. Getting it restored in Maryland at the moment. Thanks for the video and the info!

Let’s put this into perspective.. no matter what small block V8 Mopar that is, it’s waaay less ridiculous than 22RE Toyota powered 1 tons, Chinooks, and U-hauls of the ‘80s. Worse yet, they were all automatics.

When the carb started clogging up you should rev it up high and then slam your hand over the top of the carb to use engine vacuum to suck some of the trash out of the carb, works 95% of the time unless the carb is totally full of varnish, if that's the case it needs a carb rebuild or throw a 4bbl intake on it and give it a bit more power, with that heavy motorhome you need all the power you can get.

The 318 in my Chrysler Fifth Avenue had me loping along at 60 with my foot to the floor while motorcoaches and dump trucks passed me at breaking speed. I can't imagine what Winnebago was thinking when they thought a 318 could haul a motorhome.

@@FuelInjectionSucks its easy, look at the driverside of the block above the starter, in big numerals it will say “318” or “360”, unless someone swapped that intake on a 318 or the engine was swapped out thats 360 only parts.... but it doesnt matter since its junk anyways lol

Well, this is interesting timing. My friends and I are an engine swap, putting a late model BMW 335-diesel and trans into an old Dodge pickup. I think an honest stock 265 horse/425 torque diesel would do pretty good in that Bread Box. It's a fairly cheap conversion too, you just buy the whole damn BMW from Co-Part.

PRO TIP, radiator leak like that, mix up some JB-Kwik, attach a vaccum cleaner to the rad cap if you can, drown the leak in jb-kwik, give it 5 minutes, shut off the vacuum. let it set for 20 and your good to go again. I'd go as far as to say this is a permenant temporary fix, ive done it enough with junk.

This sounds crazy but put a heaping tablespoon or two of plain old black pepper in that radiator before filling it back up with water. It stops leaks in old brass radiators really well. Not sure where that idea came from but my grandpa swore by it and he was right. I had an old truck when I was a teenager that sprung a leak. I couldn't afford a new radiator, so I tried Grandpa's suggestion. It would last for weeks or months and I'd have to dump a bit more in. I drove that thing like that for years. How I didn't clog up the heater is beyond me, but it never did.

Never add water to a hot engine that is not running. A million cracked engine blocks are in the junk yard to prove that. If running the water moves around and if not it settles in one place and one part hot and one cold then a crack. A can of Bars Leak will fix that size hole. The aluma seal works good for drips and does less clogging of other things.

I know how sketch it is to drive home with bad brakes, both the squarebody trucks I've owned had bad brakes, only difference was the 1974 GMC Sierra went hard right, no matter if you where on the brakes, and worse if you where on the brakes, the '83 C20 went left if you hit the brakes, and slid left if you realy tried to use the brakes.
