Great video! I've watched a ton of tutorials on youtube related to cameras and my biggest complaint is that they either over simplify the information or are excessively technical in their explanation. Really enjoyed the balance between the two, thanks for making it easy to understand yet still explaining it thoroughly! Cheers!

Thank you for this video, John! I enjoyed watching your process of color grading. I personally shoot most of my clips with manual focus, but use back button focus technique to quickly grab focus. It works! In Davinci Resolve I have created my own node trees with certain node order and saved them as Powergrades, which makes color grading very systematic and efficient, and I use F-Log in 90% of my clips. Finally, there is just something very unique in your colors and thanks to your LUTs we can all create with the same beautiful look!

I just bought your Big Sur Lut for Log. Seems like a good buy. I'm new to Fuji XT-4 and Ninja V and forgot to apply the right WB so I'm stuck with blueish, magenta hell. I'm trying to warm the image up a bit but it looks a bit fake. This was shot with a Nikon 105mm f/2 DC lens. The native fuji 18-55 seems to be more correct with the WB but the Nikon has more vibe. I find it really hard to nail the WB especially when shooting Log. Don't think I used the Eterna Lut when I was filming. I won't make the same mistake next time... Haha! Hey - I dig your videos especially the wedding stuff. Have a good one!
@johnstamw2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Stefan! I do hear folks like the LUT, which is good haha! Man, sorry to hear about that WB issue, I find fuji tends to lean cool on WB (hence my luts lean warm) but hopefully you can get it sorted out. The Auto WB Lock setting is a life-saver for me. Thanks for the comment!
@CPSWEDEN2 жыл бұрын
@@johnstamw Hey thanks for the reply! One question. When I apply your lut or the fuji ones for that matter it smashes the shadows. So I always need to raise the shadows etc. I'm using Premiere pro. It seems like I missing something. To my knowledge my exposure is good and I have have tried over expose one stop etc. I'm putting the Lut on a adjustment layer (on basic correction) and also tried in the creative panel where I can play around with the intensity which gives me a better result. Do you have any suggestions? I tried one more thing which gives me the best result and that is putting the xt4_flog_fgamut_to_flog_bt.709 on basic correction and your lut on the creative panel with some adjustment to the intensity slider. Sorry for my long post... And thanks again!
@CPSWEDEN2 жыл бұрын
One more thing... When using XT4 luts The shadows clipping and I loose information both in the shadows and highlights compared to the log footage? I can't bring that information back with the Lut. I must be missing something important? Thx again!
@johnstamw2 жыл бұрын
@@CPSWEDEN hey stefan! typically when I hear people experiencing this issue it's a color space problem. I would ensure that your timeline, workspace, etc is set to a standard Rec709 color space. That should solve the issue for both my LUT and Fuji's.
@CPSWEDEN2 жыл бұрын
@@johnstamw Thank you John for taking the time. Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. Not 100% sure how to solve it in premiere but I’ll try to find the info. When I check the file it says rec709 but maybe there’s another way to set premiere to rec… Thx a bunch! The files are from Atomos Ninja V.
