I own the X-E2S and for the price and quality of the images that it produces this is truly a steal! I am still getting used to the camera, I was shooting Canon for two years and I am by no stretch of the imagination a pro although I consider myself a good photographer. So this is my honest opinion on the camera. Pros- Image Quality, Functionality, Kit-lens 18-55mm is Fantastic, Clean Images up to 6400 (Crazy)! Cons- The camera without the right body case feels cheaply built. The entire bottom of the camera is made of the cheapest plastic non-sense I have ever seen. I bought a nice leather case for it and this to me improved the over-all quality of the camera and the experience that you feel when taking photos. Aside from that the only other issue I have is that it's nearly impossible to find legit tutorials for this certain Fuji. I bought mines on Ebay for $830.00 with the kit lens and it is worth every penny!

Thanks for the demo... only reason for me not to upgrade my x-e1 was the lack of View Mode button was taken out. Im glad to know it can be programmed into FN button...

I agree with the many comments on dpreview, that the font in the shooting display is much too small. Those of us who wear glasses would appreciate the choice to have the font larger, instead of "contract fine print" size. This is potentially a "deal breaker" for me, it makes it much less likely that I will replace my X-E1 with any Fujifilm camera when I upgrade this year. Especially as firmware updates to the X-E2 have spread the "small font virus" to other camera bodies already. All of the bells and whistles don't make up for a poor or annoying shooting experience, if I can't read the shooting display.

I really don't care I shoot old school , manual , If i need to check my settings ap and shooting speed I check it on the lens and shooting speed nod . The only thing to improve on this camera is the size of the viewfinder , a hair bigger will be great , otherwise for street photography is a very fine machine.

I just received my EX2s last week and am trying to learn all the capabilities, so this video was very helpful. There's a lot to learn! One small problem: my function buttons all work as per the default setup, except the AE button which should control Photemetry. When I press it, nothng happens. If I hold it down, the menu comes up with "Photemetry highlighted. I press OK as if to select it. But still, the button does not work. What am I doing wrong?

It really depends on your shooting preference. These are similar, but different cameras. The X-T1 is weather sealed, a larger EVF, tilt LCD screen and has more control dials. Hi fuji guys. Nice video here! I'm having trouble picking from the XE2 and XE2s? what are really the differences? I heard the XE2s has an advanced autofocus firmware than its predecessor. But also i heard you can just upgrade your XE2 firmware, then it'll be functioning like the XE2s latest focus. How true is this? Hoping for your response. Thanks.

Hi Rachel, You can move the record button to any Fn button available.

Oh ok- so there's no way to do it by somehow going into a video mode and just using the shutter release button? I like all my other fn buttons the way they are, ideally.

How do you get the ISO setting to go above 6,400. I see the menu has 3 higher settings but they're always greyed out...how do I "unlock" them? Thanks.

Higher ISO than 6400 is only available in jpeg shooting.

Downloaded the camera remote app, connected to my X-E2s and functions fine. However, the app does not have the camera or video selection on the screen. Is there a setting to make these icons appear?

The X-E2S only allows for still image capture when shooting remotely. Simply press the red button on the app's screen to capture your still image.

HOPE FUJI ADD the ability to RENAME THE FOLDER prefix or suffix, and save the pics on the folder thats newly created or chose folder to view/save. My NIKON has this function. It saves me time looking for photos i took a week ago on a bday party(and such). it sorts out the event i took. specialy on vacation. It sorts out the beach pictures, to museum, to club, etc. By adding prefix or suffix i can easily know which folder i took pictures of an event.... I PRAY THEY DO THIS... THANKS

I just bought the fuji xe2s I don't know how to change to the page that has provide on top I go to provide but then below is b and w what do I do

While your comments say "provide", our guess is you mean "Provia". If you have pressed the "Q" button to change the film type, plus other "quick" settings, there is only the one page. However, if you pressed the "Menu" button, you can just keep pressing the Down button and it will cycle through all menu options. To quickly page down, press the left button, and there you can quickly change from page to page by pressing the down button.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't get this to recognize the HDMI out to a Camlink or Magewell nor does the Fujifilm X Webcam software see it via USB. Any help, very much appreciated.

As others have said - the music detracts from the presentation - what's the point of music for a video like this? Otherwise, a very helpful introduction to the camera - now we need and "advanced" version :-)

I've just recently purchased the XE2s and noticed that there is a considerable lag in the electronic viewfinder in bright light. I did a little google research and found the discussion on this forum: www.fujix-forum.com/threads/xe2s-eye-sensor-viewfinder-lag.54649/ This seems to be a significant issue. It makes the EVF almost unusable in bright light due to the time that it takes for it to actually refresh. Will there be a firmware update to address this issue?

There are different options for sound. In the Menu - Setup (Wrench) - Sound options. This will allow you to make any change you like..

Setup 1/Sound setup/Operation Vol./ In here, when I choose sound (3 level), there is sound in buttons and focus. In reverse, both have no sound.

Curious as to how one activates the (H) or (L) iso sensitivity settings on the camera, mine are "grayed out".

If you are shooting RAW, the ISO range is ISO 200-6400. In order to shoot outside those ISO settings, you will need to be in .jpg only.

Thanks for the tip, however, when I do switch to Fine or Normal, shutting off RAW, the (H and L) settings are still not accessible, still greyed out. Regarding the pop up flash, it seems to work in 'Auto' mode only. While I doubt that I will have a need for the pop up, should I ever need to use it, will I have to switch to 'Auto'?

For the ISO, if you are in any of the "Automatic' modes your ISO will be limited. Put the camera into a semi-automatic mode. Similarly, if you want control of the flash, put the camera into a semi-automatic mode (Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, etc) and you can then control the flash; in the Q menu, between Auto, Forced, Suppressed, etc.)

So, what you are saying, in essence, is that I can not use the flash in 'manual' mode. Again, the flash only seems to work in the 'Auto' mode, switching off the 'Auto' mode, the flash icon disappears. I did as you suggested, tried both TV and AV modes, no luck. Again, not that I am planning to use the popup as I will likely be using standard shoe mounted flashguns (and rarely on this model camera), still, I like to know how the features function should I find a need for their use. As for the ISO, still a 'No-Go'. Like the pop-up flash, I doubt that I will need an ISO at 12k or higher, but that 100 ISO (L) is tempting and knowing how to access this feature would be helpful. Thanks for the help.

Yes. You can use the flash in manual modes. If you do not have the built-in flash popped up, the menu options may be limited. You can find out a bit more, here.. fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-e2s/menu_shooting/flash_set-up/The lowest ISO you can shoot in RAW is 200.

The X-E2s is hard to use than the X-E2. When you hand accident hit the butt on the back of the camera, some control will change and it hard to get back to the previous control. It's a stupid camera. I like the old X-E2 much batter.

Problem solved! Face Detection must be off for Photemetry function to work. Helps to read the book!

i cant watch this because of the annoying music, I really wanted to watch this as i am deciding between thus and the X100T. If you have to put a repetative drone on your vids can you do it in one speaker only so I can turn it off, thanks.
