I turn off the noise reduction in all my Fujis. If I want to reduce noise I do it in Resolve. You get way better results that way. I also turn sharpening to the minimum and turn interframe noise reduction off for the best image possible.

Not gonna lie that noise pattern on the fuji is really nice- not to dissimilar from film grain considering how much less chroma noise it has compared to other camera brands.

I haven't tried the camera myself, but I heard the noise of the Fuji is supposedly very easy to remove in DaVinci Resolve. Again, I haven't tried this myself but I see some reviewers mention this. Definitely agree about keeping all noise reduction you can off when shooting. That's always been my modus operandi with any camera and why I dislike cameras like the A7SIII/FX3 compared to FX6 in this regard. Always appreciate your videos Josh! Nice work as always!

Great comparison man. I agree with you on the noise reduction, I noticed it straightway. It was a little hard to tell on the first test because the Sony seemed a little out of focus on the color chart close up? Love your work, keep it up!

@sorwis2 жыл бұрын
With very high ISO and when shooting a dark scenes the interframe NR is a helpful and powerful tool to reduce noise. It doesn't seem to cause much ghosting especially if you stick to the 180 shutter angle and avoids smearing the image completely. The high ISO noise reduction on the other hand is a terrible way to handle grain if you wish to reduce it. You should do it in post if you wish to do it at all.

Thanks for this review. I’m trying to see if I should step up from MFT to APSC or go all the way to Full Frame. My objectives are to avoid my current Panasonic MFT low light performance and crappy auto focus especially in low light. Also a trusty IBS and 10 bit 4:2:2 internal 4k recording. Some reviews try to make it a fact that image detail and low light performance comes from larger full frame sensor can not be beaten by smaller APSC sensor but I thought may be the technology is pushing APSC to become almost in par with full frame. What do you think? If I find an APSC camera that performs equal or better than full frame in above areas I rather go in that route just for the sake of lens prices. Full frame lens prices are quite high especially for me coming from MFT cameras. Would you be able to comment? My competitor in mind is Sony A7 IV or Canon R6 ii.

Great! I wonder if I can stick to my plans to buy the R7 or should I’d be looking at X-H2s. Are you planning to compare these two? I think ig you do simple things in 1080 and 4K, the R7 would be easier to use and easier in the pocket $$. But having both systems, make me think. Thanks

You should look at the lens line up and the availability of the lenses for your usage.Canon R7 might looks like a good deal to save money but putting everything on the paper Canon might apear more expensive as a system in whole.Be aware that Canon also have different crop then Fujifilm and most of the lens line up is a FF lenses vs Fujifilm apsc dedicated lens line up.If I was to start again in apsc I would definitly go Fujifilm, but milage can be different if you are in Canon FF edo system already.

There’s a lot going on in these tests. My experience is that 99% of the time, FF is going to perform much better than aps-c in real life situations. I have both Fuji and Sony FF gear and when I tested mine out side by side, Sony was dramatically better after dark.
@GabrielAlves-lp1qr2 жыл бұрын
@@RandumbTech Comparing ISO, FF performs better but does it have multiple lenses at f1.4 and 2.0 like Fuji does? I see a lot of people buying Sony and getting f4.0 lenses. It doesn't add up.
@RandumbTech2 жыл бұрын
@@GabrielAlves-lp1qr There are a ton of options from both Sony and third party that are 1.4 or 1.8. Also, keep in mind that an F4 in FF is roughly equivalent to the performance of a 2.8 APS-C lens. Even with fast glass, my high ISO images/video falls apart on the X-H1 compared to the A7iv.
@GabrielAlves-lp1qr2 жыл бұрын
@@RandumbTech No doubt FF is better than APS-c. 2x the area means double ISO performance. My comment was about people who buy a more expensive camera (a7iv vs xt4) and then buy f4.0 lenses because they can't afford faster FF lenses. But I speak from Brazil. Maybe that kind of money is not as important in the US.
