Great interview as always! I just hope we have more lighter and smaller lens lineup with linear motors. And Panasonic S1H rear screen. That should compensate for both photographer and videographer.

As. Photographer, the frame rate alone for medium format is pretty special. To have all the video features in this camera at this price is a bargain, IMHO!

One thing that nobody says but is key for me is the free space of Fuji camera for the hand. It's great! In the rear of the camera the right side. My hand have space to grip and don't push any button. I had a Sony A6000 years ago and was a nightmare, i couldn't grip the camera without pushing the pad to the right creating a mess. Fuji left space even in the small XS20.

Like they said very controversial. When you consider the grassroots individuals who established this camera enough to make a sequel, they made the right decision. As someone who's more on the filmmaking side, of course I would prefer to have a fully articulating screen. Great respect for their team and all that they do.

Me too, I’m so happy but more relieved. No camera should ever have the side hinged flippy flappy screen. I despise them.
@drew_hewitt
@drew_hewitt Жыл бұрын
@@chloescanlon1107 I can respect. At the same time the articulating screen is a critical assist in a single operator documentary setting. Sony has made a zero comprise version on the A7RV. There is a way to satisfy all parties.
@dhyanverco
@dhyanverco Жыл бұрын
@@drew_hewitt why? it gets in the way of the ports
@drew_hewitt
@drew_hewitt Жыл бұрын
@@dhyanverco Not from my experiences. The A7RV has done a really good job with staying clear of the ports. On other cameras I often use a right angle port adapter if there's any issues with a left side handle getting too close. Thirdly there's ribbon cables now which alleviate extremely tight scenarios. For some reason many photographers are some how threatened by an articulating screen but it's actually an innovation. Fuji knew they needed to cater to the delicate ego of the studio photographer.

I could care less about this new camera that realistically is a minor upgrade for me and all the hype that we live in a society of seemingly having to buy new hardware almost every year like it's mandatory. I have three GFX 100 that I use in my studio, and that have been the workhorse of my business and absolutely amazing and reliable gear. But if Fujifilm stops support for my cameras, or dares to stop upgrading them to the latest (possible) standards, regarding software and firmware while forcing me only to get the latest features if I buy new cameras all over again, then they have another thing coming. And I say this knowing that there are surely hardware limitations between the original camera and the new one, on which surely not all new features can be integrated in the original GFX 100 bodies.. this is perfectly understood and totally accepted. But those will account for a small percentage of the available new features that certainly can be implemented in the bodies I currently own, from the new film simulation to many other usability upgrades that are purely software based and not CPU processing intensive. Otherwise (and this is coming from being for many years a professional Sony user that gave up on the brand for the absolute disgusting lack of support they provide for their products ) I will equally never in my life again spend another $30,000 (on bodies alone) from a brand that basically insults my intelligence and the many sacrifices I made for my financial investment in them. ITS THAT SIMPLE. I made a commitment in decision to fully invest in the fujifilm family of products knowing their quality and they're very famous long-term support that made them different and much more honorable from most other brands. But go change your tune now and start treating me with the "you have old hardware that is now deprecated" spiel after paying 10 grand a pop for each, and I am out the door dragging along everyone I know in the business that is also a Fujifilm customer. This is all I have to say.

I think is not the processor. The problem is the sensor readout speed. You cannot put the advanced video specs in older GFX cameras because the sensor readout.
@yuidfbse
@yuidfbse Жыл бұрын
Yes I don't disagree with you at all, I just think that even in the new GFX100 II both the sensor readout speed and the processor are still not anywhere up to par with what the camera is trying to do, mainly on video high resolution and frame rates. Upped video specs happen to be THE actual main differentiator between the old and new camera because on the photography side, they are pretty much the same thing and the improved AF is nothing that would justify an upgrade. The AF capabilities of the original GFX100 are already very very good. When I upgraded from my original 50S to the 100, YES, that was an upgrade. 100MP vs 50, PD AF vs contrast, 4K video vs 1080p, IBIS vs none.. really, THATS AN UPGRADED CAMERA. Now from the 100 to the 100II, is no upgrade.. it's called a REVISION no matter how it's sold as or marketed. Just the facts.

Fuji is doing great. If they had only one mount i would go with Fujifilm without a doubt. Maybe in the future they can develop a only one mount like Canon, Sony, Nikon, and even develop full frame line of sensors. A mount with the diameter of GFX one, but with the minimal flange distance possible, to be able to adapt Fx apsc and GFX lenses. If Fujifilm do it, i would go with Fujifilm for sure.
@Pentax67
@Pentax67 Жыл бұрын
Impossible to have one mount . Different flange distance between medium format and apsc. It’s something logic and everyone should know
@amermeleitor
@amermeleitor Жыл бұрын
@@Pentax67 tell that to Nikon, Sony and Canon with the same flange distance for APSC and FF. You can have the same distance with MF (44x33mm). Nikon mount diameter is not so far from GFX one and have a 16mm flange distance. Imagine a 15mm flange distance or less in Fuji one mount. You could adapt all Fuji lenses from APSC and MF.
@Pentax67
@Pentax67 Жыл бұрын
@@amermeleitor GFX flange distance is 27,6mm and X mount is 17.7mm that’s pretty much impossible to have 1 Mount. Have you seen how big is GF Mount compared to a tiny lenses from X Mount , like how it’s gonna fit? Ok you can make small lenses bigger but that just destroys the purpose of compact. What you need to understand is product positioning from commercial perspective and physical limitation. GF Mount is 65mm vs Z Mount 55 that’s pretty huge not small difference like you think! It will be really stupid to design one Mount for medium format and tiny apsc . That’s how you destroy a company business
@Pentax67
@Pentax67 Жыл бұрын
@@amermeleitoron a funny note , imagine a customer with his super compact APSC and a giant freaking lens to fit into GF Mount. He is like : yay I’m gonna make muscles 💪🏻 😂
@amermeleitor
@amermeleitor Жыл бұрын
@@Pentax67 you have a point, more or less. But have you seen the Nikon Z30, ZFC or Z50? Nearly same size as a XS10. And they can be built even smaller if needed. Even lenses can be slim, small and with only increase size near the mount, I have a pair like this for my Nikon cameras. But, ok, you want a small mount, then ok, Keep the X mount, but give us a new GFX mount with small flange distance able to, via adapter, use the X mount lenses. It's fully possible, like using Sony lenses on Nikon Z mount with full autofocus via adapter. If Fuji do this, they will win a lot of customers and will be able to design better MF and even FF cameras with GFX mount.

6:04 I’m happy that CineD asked this question; but FUJIFILM didn’t quite answer said question. So in short, they’re not allowing full width and height open gate for any of their resolutions, frame rate and video modes. The best you can get is full width in 5.8k, which is comparable to most full-frame camera offerings already out there. And 8K crops into a super35 mode (it’s not when full-frame). Was hoping to finally invest in this camera system; but until they allow full medium format open gate, this will be a hard pass for so many hoping to get that Alexa 65 / IMAX stylized look. And I feel bad for anyone who does invest blindly into this system, thinking they’ll have full utilization of the sensor for video.
