XH2s any day for video.

I own the Fujifilm X-H2s. I've been a pro photographer my whole life, 66 years. I would not trade this camera for any other camera in the world. I had a Fujifilm XT4 and Canon R7, and sold them both, after testing the 3 in open shade, sun light, and low light. Fujifilm X-H2s was the best of all in all situations. I like it so much; I bought a second one.

I own the Fuji XH2S. I'm a hobbyist, I shoot for fun and for memories. The flexibility or hybridness of the Fuji is such a great advantage for me. I didn't quite realize it before buying, but when taking the camera somewhere, I often shoot photos when I thought I would just do video and vice versa. I love this freedom. Down the line, maybe I'll pick up a Blackmagic too.

You can resolve the about 35% of the rolling shutter of the balckmagic by using davinci resolve stabilization and setting stabalize to zero It's an extra annoying step but straightens those lines a bit more so there is a solution for the rolling shutter What I am curious about is the noise pattern rendition, the one on Fuji looks really filmic or organic, can't describe it really, it's more like shooting on film. How does it compare to the blackmagic noise pattern in high iso?! Also the dual gain iso 3200 when using flog 2 is really clutch but we get in return the XT4 rolling shutter and surprisingly less noisy than blackmagic at same iso Baffles me a bit how good crop x trans sensors are
@ThierryGibralta10 ай бұрын
The noise pattern on the BlackMagic looks definitely “dirtier” at 3200 I will make more comparisons in the future as I plan on getting the camera from February but definitely I prefer the noise on Fuji.

Thank you for the awesome comparison, I’m interested in picking one of these two cameras, I am mainly using L mount cameras (LUMIX S5iiX,and S1, SIGMA fp) at the moment for an action movie, however I want something with less rolling shutter, and a faster readout. Which is why I’m more geared towards the FUJIFILM XH2S with its stacked sensor - would you rate the FUJIFILM XH2S as a good cinema camera? Or do you think the BLACKMAGIC 6k could handle car chase and action scenes without rollout problems?
@ThierryGibralta8 ай бұрын
I would not go with the Blackmagic for car chase and action. The X-H2S is good, and can handle its own in this kind of situations I believe
@SuchetB7 ай бұрын
@@ThierryGibraltathank you for responding- in general would you say the XH2S could pull off similar beautiful imagery to BM 6K pro? If say I found another way to do the car chase? After seeing your videos - I’m just asking as I have a LUMIX S1, SIGMA fp, and a LUMIX S5iiX too - I’m just very taken by the images from the BLACKMAGIC too. What would you do if you had to pick one overall?

Which one has better video image? And by how much? How much better is the Fuji with photos? How about customer support, service turn time, and reliability?

I would pick Black Magic all day. The image in my opinion is more organic and rich than the XH2-S. I find the XH2-S has a really one-dimensional, overly digital image and I hate the way the Fuji renders skin. I’m not saying the Fuji is bad, but to me it just has a very digital mirrorless look, while the Black Magic has a look closer to that of a proper cinema camera. I would tell someone getting into film making to pick up a used BMPCC 4k with a speed-booster and a sigma 18-35mm. It would be cheaper than the XH2-S body alone. With the money saved, you could even invest into more lighting.
@khanmimaad3 ай бұрын
Cost aside, would the X-H2S make a good Travel/B cam to the BMCC6K as an A cam? I want something comparable to the CC6K in a more travel friendly body, the closest match I’ve been able to find so far is the Sigma fp with its L mount but not sure if the X-H2S would make for a better option
@Christo_glenn2 ай бұрын
@@khanmimaad Hey mate, the XH2S would be an awesome travel/B-cam. I rarely use autofocus in video with the Fuji, but I have heard from others that it’s lacklustre in that regard. If proper AF is important as well as full-frame, I’d say for go for the Lumix s5IIx.

If i was a filmmaker i would buy the blackmagic. As a hybrid shooter i buy the panasonic s52x its the same price as the fuji but it is full frame.

Thierry, I have an X-T4, but I've been struggling to upgrade by staying with camera and buying a Blackmagic or the XHs. I am freelance videography.
@ThierryGibralta10 ай бұрын
It really depends on your needs. Personally I like FLog2, CF Express, the speed and ProRes which is why I went with the X-H2S. If you don’t need those, the X-T4 is also fine.
@angryrabbitproductions16909 ай бұрын
Good review. IMO the Fujifilm XH2S has the better image. With both better highlight roll off and superior dynamic range. Granted, Flog2 has a learning curve to it. I feel the huge reason to purchase BM camera was built in NDs… a feature which is sadly omitted from this new version. FYI: the Fujifilm can record BRaw externally.

Speed booster and magic video assist and you have a full frame bmcc 6k on your Fuji lol

Yes and no. No dual native ISO means that you can’t change your ISO in post like on the BMCC. And still it is not exactly like FF. I like that combo as well though 😉

does the video assist really add that extra punch of better image quality?

@@lorenzocorro1517 compared to X-H2S only? You get access to the BRAW workflow with the 12bit color but you don’t get the true raw capabilities though. It is nice but kind of a big investment as well

Only thing u don’t get when shooting Brar with the xh2s is being able to change the iso in resolve . It definitely is an extremely close image to BM ff when adding a speed booster.

0:32 You are talking about haptics but saying "build quality"! From look and feel you cannot ever judge the build and the quality of materials. How would you? You cannot tell how the water, moisture, dust, heat resistance is. neither short or long term. Resistance against falling, I assume you have not droped any cam ever to test later if it still works like before in all the conditions above. you cannot even tell what kind of materials are used to make a general comparison and so on. But: you are not alone - there is actually no-one I have ever seen to talk correctly. But people probably believe after all when they have been told 10 times, that a lens "is build like a tank", that they can drop - when it is really just a hefty product! That does not mean it can resist anything.
