Well.. I sold my X-T4 after buying the X-S10. A smaller body, the same battery of the X-T30 that I use as my daily camera with the 27mm, same sensor, just .5 stop difference in IBIS, all lenses already having a manual aperture dial. After reprogramming the dials, I can say that it is the best choice I’ve ever made.
Жыл бұрын
Damn! The best choice ever? I’m happy for you. The x-s10 is a pretty good camera, suitable for some, less suitable for others, like myself for example. I usually work with two cameras on me at all times. To be honest it makes a lot more sense to have two cameras with the exact same settings and dials that I know how to use in situations where I have to be fast, rather than two different cameras with different dials. If somebody was to give me the x-s10 as a present I’d take it and use it and get good results with it but if I had to buy it I’d definitely get an x-t4 or 5 or x-h2s. But the again, it is my personal preferences, if you’re happy with the x-s10 that’s what’s the most important.

I think it depends where you are coming from. I bought the XS-10 having never owned a Fuji and for the price, am pretty happy with it. Coming from Sony gear I don't miss the manual dials as I've never had them. I wanted a smaller camera than the XT-4 but now I have the XS-10, the XT-4 is looking really good! The grip is too big for the body though!

Yes, definitely. Coming from XT4 and XT3 makes it a lot different to shoot with. It is a pretty good camera if you're trying to get into fujifilm and you're coming from a more classical DSLR style camera. I agree with you when you say that the grip is too big for the body.

I bought one yesterday to replace a Canon G9x and thought I would spend a bit more and try out mirrorless technology for the first time. As I wanted to be able to do overhead shots using a monopod held high I felt its IBIS was an important feature in addition to its light weight. While I still have a lot to learn about it the only negative things are its small battery and fiddly to press buttons but thats the trade off for fitting full size SLR features in a small body at a lowish price I guess and I did place an importance on it being lightish weight. I did plan for my first Mirrorless camera to be possibly a Canon R7 when my 7D dies and it will be interesting to see if I end up progressing to a Fuji X5 instead should I end up enjoying my Fuji experience with the XS10.

I just got a x-s10 to use alongside my x-t3 and at the moment i much rather pickup the x-s10 than the x-t3, mainly because of the IBIS. When it comes to photos it's basically the same thing, except the FPS. As I shoot mostly cars, weddings and restaurants I dont really need a fast shutterspeed. For video I also rather pickup the x-s10 as the lack of IBIS takes away from the experience when shooting handheld with the x-t3. I find the 8bit on the x-s10 really good for the most part
Жыл бұрын
It is not a bad camera at all, I agree with you on the 8 bit, it is pretty good, most of the time to be honest people just apply a LUT to the LOG footage and call it "colour grading" so You're better off just using Eterna or some profile and doing some corrections later. Hey if you find it to be a good camera that I am truly happy for you. But to be honest, between the X-S10 and X-T4 I'll always pick the X-T4. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment ;)

Honestly, if you got the money the 23 1.4 produces way better images, and as you can imagine is better in low light. I'm not sure about the autofocus, though. I have never tested either one of them. I have the 23 1.4 LM WR and it works wonders. At the end of the day it's all a matter of being able to afford it. A thing I've learned is to ask myself: can I afford buying two of them? (lenses, cameras, whatever) If yes, go for it, if no wait some more time.

I fully agreed with everything said as an XS10 owner who honestly enjoys this body. I have XT3 which is my main body, my XS10 is meant as a back-up camera or a second camera for my Tele Lens because of IBIS. I say, it really depends on how you’ll gonna use it. I bought mine for 850€ (display unit). Just get the XS10 if you already have a main body and planning to get a cheaper second camera that almost give you the same features of XT4.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one to think that. It's not that I didn't enjoy at all shooting with that camera but it simply did not feel right at the end. I got a second X-T4 used body and now I'm pretty happy with the results I get. I recently shot an event all handheld with both cameras (photos and video) and it worked out pretty well. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it.

If I want a new camera body and I have a gig coming up I would rent the new body. The gig will cover the rental expense, and then you can shoot the with your rented body and your main camera as a secondary. This way you can use your existing lens, shoot two primes at once, and default to your main camera if you can't figure out the new body. If you end up liking the new body then you can sell your old body before you regret it.

Having been without an SLR camera for 27yrs… my soul was starving to reconnect with the dormant photographer that lays within. Not wanting to drop a boatload on an initial body, my research led me to the x-s10… I’m a month in and more in with 80mm macro lens (which cost more than the body) and 70-300 telephoto, plus ALL the added accessories (maybe that constitutes as GAS?! Ha!)… I sure am happy to be creating again. Yet should I ever suffer from GAS (which is doubtful in the foreseeable future as I am still building my lens arsenal), I do like knowing that I can elevate my body in the x-mount series. Appreciate your feedback on x-t3/4. So for entry-level, I’m having fun. Great video, appreciate your honesty and feel your pain!

Hi! Thanks for watching and for the thoughtful comment. As a first camera and first entry in the Fujifilm world I believe the X-S10 it's more than perfect. With time probably you'll feel the need to upgrade, I believe it's just a natural process. But in the meantime enjoy your camera and keep shooting.

I have a Fujifilm X-E3 and would like to upgrade to a camera with IBIS, focus bracketing and a flip-screen. To me the X-S10 seems to be very good. However, it doesn't do HEIF which is a shame, also I would prefer 10-bit video over 8-bit so I will wait and see what the X-S20 will be like. I would also like a camera that does in camera time lapse, but Fujifilm has stopped doing that, but it is not a deal breaker. Being a retired old git, I do not need the pro features although weather proofing would be good. For me a good quality general camera is what I want. Something small and light that I can put into my backpack and go walking, take overseas on holiday, doing a bit of astrophotography, doing macro photography and photographing animals. Something like the X-S10 is a good all-rounder and would be just what I need, especially as there is a separate button for shooting video - not having one is ridiculous.

Hi Catherine! Thank you for taking the time and give such a well thought comment. Maybe you should try the XT3 if you're not into video shooting and don't need IBIS. It is rather light and small. If you pair it with a pancake lens like 27mm or 18mm it will be super small. I'm curious about how the XT-5 will look like if there is going to be one. Cheers!
@catherinegrimes23082 жыл бұрын
@ Many thanks for your kind words and advise. IBIS would be important because I have 40+ year old Vivitar macro lens that I converted to the X-mount and IBIS would help with that because the doesn't have image stabilisation. The other lenses that I have are a Samyang 12mm, a Fujifilm 18-55mm and a Fujifilm 70-300mm. Even though I don't do blogging or selfies, I have a bridge camera that has a flip screen and that is useful for eclipse photography because I can point the camera at the sky and position the screen so I can easily see what is going on. For extra stability, I have the tripod set to be very low and a flip screen or similar is required. I miss that with the X-E3 and the X-S10 has one. The plan is to use a Fujifilm camera with the 70-300mm lens with the 1.4X teleconverter for photographing the eclipse in Texas in 2024. Afterwards we will be going to New Mexico and Arizona to see some professional telescopes, Meteor Crater and the Grand Canyon. The Samyang and the Fujifilm lenses should be good for that. When I saw the eclipse in Argentina in 2019, I took the bridge camera, the X-E3 and a very small remotely controlled computerised astronomical mount. Leaving the bridge camera at home and taking the 70-300mm lens instead should be a better idea because the photographs should be a lot better. I occasionally take videos of animals and need to suddenly change between stills and video and back. Having the video button on the camera body is very useful. I was shocked to discover that there wasn't one on the X-E3 and you need to set video mode using the drive button. I hope that this makes sense. Fujifilm are doing a camera announcement tomorrow and Fuji Rumors thinks that it will be to announce the X-T5. It will be at 13:00 UTC/GMT/UK time and you can see it at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zn63dJWglLt3l5I If you go there now, you can get the webpage to send you a notification.

Oh come on it's not that bad. yes the nipple joystick is weird and oddly placed at first the menu, managed to accidentally change shooting raw+jpeg to jpeg only during an event in extremely tricky lighting when I was not familiar with the menu layout the battery last quite a while for photos only, especially with the screen off, or toggle on off the camera the video mode - best quality will be in .mov and a few setting changes even in 8bit, but the quality will instantly be sodomized when converting the footage into mp4 or by web compression

@RaresGheorghiu I didn't really have an option to be honest. I come from Canon APS-C DSLR cameras, the 90D had the best ergonomics but iso range sucked above 2000, dual pixel autofocus was limited to only in live view then the thing broke during a photography course, right in the middle of it (wanted to refresh my memories and get out of my comfort zone) that pos only had about a 11k shutter count and broke after that experience I avoid canon like the plague, that and sigma lenses (had crap experiences with the dgs ex the bulky f1.4 50mm before) 1 year passed and couldn't stand not having a camera, didn't have much money either looking around the famous "olx" found a fuji xs10 kit with the crap 15-45mm and with extremely low shutter count (about 300) it was in my city so I could look at the camera in person the price was extremely good, I was about 300 ron short on cash but the buy agreed anyways camera was in extremely good shape, complete box, seller didn't like the video output for his needs only things I wish the xs10 would have is weather sealing, dual card slots and 10bit internal video recording and that's it AF doesen't bother me as I don't shoot sports and wildlife

Too bad you don't like it. I personally hate the retro bullshit on the XT series, it just slows you down. There is a reason why pro body DSLR's moved away from that style. I like having a system close to the goat Nikon D700 that I compare all my bodies to. The layout of the XS-10 is close to that. I also am pretty sure no one had issues with the older DSLR's and weather sealing. Pretty sure the XS-10 is still sealed really well and like my previous non-wr DSLR's in the past I continue to use it in rain, snow and sand with no issues. I'm more concerned with the lens weather sealing. For me I am just happy to have such a small size with such good capabilities, but I wish I was with the Nikon FF mirrorless system, but I had such a big collection of Fuji lenses that I acquired before Nikon released and perfected their mirrorless cameras I just can't justify making that switch yet, but I probably will in the future just because I prefer FF.

Listen overall the body is not even that bad, once you use it for a while you stop missing the dials. I also used to shoot Nikon a few years back. It depends mostly on yours style. Sometimes having that ISO dial makes everything faster fors example. Overall the camera is good but for professional use I'd rather have something more reliable. I recently got the X-H2s and it has the same form factor, slightly bigger but it is pretty damn good. But all of this means nothing, you can take solid photos with the X-S10 or the Nikon D700 or the X-H2S. It is mostly about the knowledge you have in you niche and using the gear to your advantage.

Wow...new camera a week before an important photo job? Gutsy. So...maybe next time the GAS itch strikes, just get a new lens? Seriously though, the XT3 and XT4 are great cameras with all the advantages you mentioned; is the higher price of the xt4 than the xt3 worth it? For me it was...for you, it depends on your likes and needs. The XS10 is also a good camera, but in your situation maybe more as a backup camera? As for the X100V, folks have raised the price to ridiculous amounts, so recommend you wait. Also, while the X100F is a decent camera, the newer lens of the X100V is so much better I would recommend you hold out for that...plus the tilt screen is handier than a fixed screen.

Yeah I know, not really the best choice, it worked out though. It's not that I couldn't work with the X-S10, it just did not feel right. Now I got two X-T4s and I'm in a pretty happy place to be honest. There's still the X100V desire but with time I'll get it. The X100F doesn't seem too bad, to be honest. It looks like a camera that will slow down your process but it can be interesting. The only thing I would be afraid of is the fact that there is no weather sealing. Hey thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I highly appreciate.

@ Just remember to complete the X100V weather sealing, you have to add the ring adapter and filter...totally worth it. Also, a Gariz half case is a really nice one to add. Glad you ended up with the 2 XT4s that work for you...as a hobbyist, an xt4, sx10 2nd camera, x100v edc works well for me. If the x100v had image stabilization and a flippy screen I would be in heaven...grin.
