@frankygamaliano70588 күн бұрын
I have X100V for several years. I recently added GRiiix and used it exclusively in our family holiday. I agree of the stealthiness and its snap focus is great. The built quality and its pocket-ability is a little overhyped. The built quality doesn’t exude confidence, it’s plasticky and I often bumped the exposure compensation back wheel or some other buttons. Pocketability? Depends on your pockets really and what accessories you add on. For example I added both the metal cap & thumb support following suggestions from YT or ‘instagrammers’ but found them both counter intuitive for my use. Few times I forgot to take off the cap & turned on the camera, the JJC thumb support is rather sharp & gets in the way if you do pocket the camera, so I have both removed. With the dials rather easily pressed, so I don’t think it’s that pocketable (and yeah, I won’t mention the potential dust/lint issue as I haven’t seen any on mine). So now I’m strapping my GR on handphone neck lanyard / wrist cord only. It’s a great little camera & I like the image quality but it’s due for built quality upgrade & weather sealing.
@Reggiebphoto8 күн бұрын
Yeah I threw away my caps. Worst investment. And thumb rest defeats the purpose. It’s pocketable if you keep it as is.

I wanted a new Fuji so bad (X100VI or V or other model but all out of stock) but got the Rixoh GR IIIx after a lot of research (managed to find a new one). I've never shot that much before (main use is family / holiday). Super handy and super small. I can carry it in my fanny pack and use it one handed. It doesn't attract attention because it's not that well known to the public. Snap focus is also a great feature. Only small downsides are the battery life (get 2-3 batteries for sure), fragile (get protection accessories). The only thing I keep thinking about now is to get the GRIII as my next camera so that I have two focal lengths and switch between them every now and then. I don't want no bigger camera any more.
@davevayn2 ай бұрын
You can get the adapter to switch to 50 or switch from 40 to 30 which I'm going to do I think because 40 is good everyday use and for portrait or street to not get too close to people but then 30 for indoor or wider landscape I think

The beauty is that you point out ALL the reasons why someone would use a 100vi, but leave the door open to the few uses cases where the GRIII is absolutely the right choice. Love it. But at this point, I just watch to appreciate you. I don't care what you want to post. :)

I have both the RICOH GR3 and the Fujifilm X100VI and honestly I just cant get used to the size of the X100VI. The X100VI is an amazing camera and the colors are extremely unique and obviously not achievable by any other competitor camera sooc but I can throw the GR3 in my front pocket and take everywhere with me. The x100vi is extremely portable as well but not to the extent of the GR3 specially if you have a hood lens on it. Also the GR3 is very stealthy compared to the x100vi, no one will question you about what camera you are using as opposed to the x100vi which is extremely flashy. Specially if you have the silver color way. Both are amazing cameras though. I will say images on the GR3 or definitely sharper compared to the x100vi but then again to some it doesn't really matter specially if you are using a diffusion filter to take off that digital sharpness. Both cameras provide a different experience and I would say that they are both worth a try!

I felt the 28mm on my Leica Q is too wide, I am cropping too much to my taste. Since two weeks I own the Ricoh GR IIIx and its 40mm equivalent is just what I wanted. I have no plans to let the Q go, I like both. I don't find the sharpness of the Ricoh a problem, the Q lens is also extremely sharp. the big advantage of the Ricoh is that it fits in a pocket. The Q doesn't and neither does the Fuji (I had the first X100 and.X100T years ago).

both cameras look fantastic. I got my X100VI and prefer it over the GRIIIx mainly because of two things: EVF/OVF and also the dials for SS, ISO and aperture. honestly, I think that people give much more attention to gears than to what really matters. I spent a few weeks with a XA1 from Fuji and the images turned out just as good. Of course some things are only possible, or much easier, with new(est) cameras and etc, but this thinking that you NEED a new camera to improve your shots it's just... crazy. I know this is not the point of your video. by the way, very nice vid :)

Both are still unavailable. The Ricoh has occasional stocks but the Fujifilm is still almost impossible to get. I think the market for these $1000 point and shoot cameras are much smaller than what Fuji/Ricoh thinks and that losing customers, especially in the post covid vacation boom, because of "stock issues" or manufacturing ineptitude will haunt them in the future. I know in Reddit, I am already tired of seeing another JPEG of Japan with their "recipe of the day".

Is it just me or do all of the Fujifilm camera photos look way nicer.. I know they have the same sensor and megapixels but after hours of research and looking at sample photos the Fuji photos look so much better on average. Sometimes the Ricoh pictures I see look like something an iPhone could take. My theory is just that I think the Fuji cameras with the wider variety of film simulations are way easier to pick up out of the box and get a nice picture. The Ricoh I’m guessing would take more post editing to get as nice of a look and can’t rely on the film simulations as much. I really want the pocket-ability of the Ricoh but as someone who’s not an avid photographer, I’d rather do less to get a nice image than have to edit my photos to get the same look.

It’s preference, I feel the opposite. I prefer the Ricoh JPEGs over the fujifilm. Just comes down to the recipe and how skilled the photographer is at using it
@shredstein2 ай бұрын
I can never recommend the Ricoh. It’s honestly exactly what I want in a camera, but it has one HUGE problem - the lack of a removable lens. Dust in the lens/sensor is a common problem, and since you can’t remove the lens, it’s often not fixable without disassembling the camera (which I wouldn’t recommend doing if you’re not well versed in the practice). If they ever put one out that solves this issue I’ll be all over it. I liked the GRiii I had for a short time, but sadly had to send it back with this exact issue and didn’t want to risk it happening again so went back to my fujifilms
@Reggiebphoto2 ай бұрын
I hear you. The X100VI also does not have a removable lens.
@shredstein2 ай бұрын
@@Reggiebphoto yes good point. But it’s a stationary fixed lens. Should have mentioned it’s the retracting nature of the Ricoh lens that “allows” dust to get in. But this is what also allows the camera to be “pocket size”.
