@@xrizbira Yes, folk, edm, house, techno, disco, reggaeton, reggae, are also underrepresented. So are non-western/non-english albums. The whole "one album per artist" rule is also odd. But it's still a mostly solid list of amazing bodies of work and most albums on that list deserve to be in the discussion for a top 100 listing (apart from 3-4 albums which were definitely placed as bait to create attention). The whole idea of creating a Top 100 Albums of all time list is an impossible feat bc you'll always forget something in some form. So let's just enjoy the fun discussion about these amazing albums and not get too hung up on "but album xyz is missing" or "this should be above this" bc we'll never fully agree on that.

Because it’s better and something being older doesn’t inherently make it better. Rumors is an undeniable and influential album but in a world and time where things are blurry/mixed genre wise Blonde is the greatest representation of that. Listening to it top to bottom for the first time was a holy experience. yo.. to say MJ was solely focused on his personal success is so inaccurate. Yes, he wanted to be the greatest but he was also focused on what that would mean for Black people. The cast of the music videos and how he allowed black groups to sample him, highlights his intentionality. I love Lauren but her solo album does not come close to Thriller. I say this as a 23 year old, there is no shift. Thriller is still number one. Every artist still speaks on the albums impact.

Blonde at the #5 album of all time, in any category, is literally a disgrace to any credibility these “experts” have. This is coming from someone who listened to the album non-stop through my entire high-school years and who was a massive Ocean fan. The entire list is so absurd though. It’s created to rile people up just like The Rolling Stones list.

Blonde at 5 is wild. Sure it was big at the time and people still listen to it but I’ve grown cold on it in the last couple of years, perhaps mostly because of Frank’s weird behavior since then. LEMONADE really is one of the best bodies of work of all time. a cohesive journey through the stages of grief weaved together with stellar vocals, insane production and poignant lyrics. it topped several best album lists in 2016, and best album of the decade lists in 2019, deservedly so. and the FILM! the poetry interspersed with each track to further push the narrative of generational trauma, infidelity, violence, grief and healing 😮‍💨 it’s heartbreaking. the acting, the sets, special effects, choreography, the looks, the cinematography… all stunningly breathtaking. it was unheard of at the time for an artist of that magnitude to STILL be pushing boundaries in such a way. fast forward to 2024 and she’s still doing the same with the reclamation trilogy. i’m grateful to live in a time where i can witness and fully appreciate the art.

There will always be debates on this topic. I am actually really happy to see Lauryn Hill get props but I do not think that the album is the #1 album of all time. It could be within the top 20. Nile Rogers know that that album being put at #1 is cap. You can see it in his response. To me "Thriller" and "Songs in A Minor" are the unquestionables of this top 10.

I absolutely LOVE and AGREE that Miseducation is on top. I love the four of them were honest when they were surprised as well, but that album is 25 years old and it’s STILL a non-skip album and it’s influenced 25 years of artists. I loved their discussion about it and the list. I actually really love the list in general. You look at Rolling Stone’s list, or something similar, and it’s practically all white bands from the 70s. There’s more influences out there than rock and roll bands from the 70s, and for me that’s Lauryn Hill. It’s a seminal album and I don’t care if it’s the only thing she ever makes- it’s perfect.
