Here's an easy way to make a rigged Digi-double of yourself or anyone in 5 minutes with the power of AI. You'll also learn how to use Mixamo's addon to generate an animation-ready rig and apply motion capture from their library.

If any Mixamo animations come in with broken rigs, check out this tutorial explaining a solution. The problem did go away for me with the latest version of Blender though.

Hey, for some reason the app isn't supported anymore. Any way to fix this? This is the only method I found that might work for 3d scanning myself for blender, but I'm not allowed to download it on android anymore.

Like an action figure? Yeah doubtful, but you could just 3d scan it with polycam

Hello there what a nice tutorial. I followed all the steps from your video but if I want to apply the animation from the Mocap Maximo rig that I downloaded to my fully rigged model from In3D the animation is not transferred to the In3D rigged character. The only thing I see is that the skin (legs and arms) of the In3D character are slightly moving and rotating. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Some of those Mixamo rigs are broken sadly. One workaround I’ve found is to upload the character and re-rig it with Mixamo’s auto rigger. Then use that as your base character to download animations with, it seemed to work most of the time.

I think you can get it on the google play store for android as well. But I haven’t tested it. Thanks for watching!

Hello! I was hoping you could expand on a comment you made at around the :25 second mark. You mentioned replacing the clothing and/or replacing the head of the model with live footage. This is exactly what I need to accomplish for a project. I'm wondering if you're able to do a future video based on this at some point. I plan to scan myself in in3d wearing a blue stretchy suit, filming scenes in that same outfit but then 'replacing' the outfit with a 3d rigged model of a Superman suit & cape with motion tracking, etc. Can this be done exclusively with Blender by chance? I also plan on switching out the live footage head with the digital double for certain frames during action sequences that obviously can't be filmed. Please let me know if you're able to provide any guidance, it would be greatly appreciated! Awesome work! Subscribed.

It can be done in blender yes, but there are some other tools to make it easier. Once you have footage, you’d have to get a good camera track for it (I like camera tracking in nuke, faster and easier than blender) then hand animate your digi double to match your movements in the plate. After that, I would render the digi without a head and composite the plate head on top. It’s a complicated and difficult process but totally possible with blender. I’ll keep it in mind for a future tutorial!

Are you downloading a model from mixamo, or uploading your own? If you’re uploading a model and want to retain textures, I believe you need to use .obj file format. If you made a model with the In3D app and rigged it with the Mixamo addon then you can just apply the downloaded animation to your already textured asset as I did in this tutorial.
