Sorry to hear about your recent injury. I got injured too for a few weeks (elbow tendonitis due to heavy dips) earlier in the year, and it's so frustrating when your momentum is being stopped 😢 But like you said, as long as you can still train on other things, it's an opportunity to work on one's weak links. Anyway, all the best with your recovery 💪🏻

I'm more into running than into strength training, but I love this channel for the info on bodyweight training as this is my go to training. Will run my first marathon in August, so I don't push myself too hard on calisthenics as I use it as a way to steer clear from injuries in my running. I like to come here and watch your progress as you go. Hopefully you will be healed and come back even stronger soon.

Aw mate, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it's something and nothing and that you're fully recovered again soon. An aerial artist I know badly injured his back, and couldn't train properly for months - but he used the time to double down on his conditioning, and is now even fitter, stronger and more impressive than he was before he got injured. Wishing you a speedy recovery 💪

Mate that means a lot! Hoping that this forced focus on weak areas will have a similar effect. Thanks for the love! 👊🏿

Right now I’m still mainly progressing my basic compound movement, like pullups, rows, dips and pushups. I’ve improved my weighted pullup recently by just, adding weight. I had become attached to +10kg for so long I just got used to it and never challenged my muscles. Your flexibility is enviable! It really shows how much effort you’ve been putting into it and I really respect it. Keep going and fighting through the pain and you’ll have a full middle splits soon! Good job, and good luck for the future.

Mate, 100% I think, as much as possible, try to stay away from nice round numbers. Sometimes the goal of 'if I just get +10KG' or '+10% bodyweight' etc can mean we get comfortable once we hit that target. You're spot on to keep staying hungry for more! And cheers! I'm about as flexible as a plank of wood so this really has taken a grind to get this mobile! 💪🏿

congrats on the straddle front lever, andrew. sorry to hear of this injury, hopefully it's neither a tear nor a hernia. i've been neglecting pulling movements lately, i need to start working on those inverted rows. it's hard to find the balance where you make gains in multiple exercises. i get what you're saying about the perfect program. i'm retired and could train for multiple hours daily, but at age almost 70 i have to be wary of giving myself enough recovery and overtraining doesn't always = more gains.

Cheers Bruce! Yeah you mentioned that you are stronger at pushing and it means that you may have inadvertently spent more energy on pushing over pulling! And 100%. We only get better at what we can recover from - that being said. I just dream to be half as fit as you are when I hit 70! I'd argue many 30 and 40 year olds could do what you do; pike push up, half dragon flag, elbow levers etc!!! 💪🏿

@@CaliToTheCrowd i've never been that great at anything i've done athletic wise, but i've done something without substantial interruption for my entire life. i think that's the key to doing this at an advanced age. i have had several serious physical setbacks that were not training related, that i was able to recover from.

Love to see the journey and progress, such a tough move to master What is your current split like? Finding it difficult with full time work Also how long are your sessions?
@CaliToTheCrowd

Cheers Jorge! Will hopefully master it soon 💪🏿 Current split is just push pull, but 4 days per week plus 1 day playing football. My sessions are about 1.5 hours 👊🏿

You make pull-ups look easy. I don’t see the need to be able to do a full split for calisthenics unless you’re a martial artist looking to kick somebody in the head, why would that be important to you?

Haha cheers Charles. Honestly the middle splits is just a goal of mine that I have wanted to achieve for a while. Doubt it will help much with the other goals 💪🏿
