I'm not asking for a schematic, just a professional opinion. I have 2014 Avalon with standard radio, small factory Fujitsu Ten amp, and 9 speakers: three 3 1/2" in the dash, a 3 1/2" in each rear door, 6 x 9 in each front door, and 2 woofers in the rear shelf. How in the world would I "channelize" these speakers. My hearing is not the best, so anything you might suggest would be fine. If this isn't something you do, I totally understand. Great video by the way. Very, very professional.

Quality Mobile Video If I do the big 3 upgrade on a 1995 Plymouth voyager van with the stock 90amp alternator can I atleast install a 600 watt rms subwoofer ? So the amp will be 600watt rms at 2 ohms powering that 2 ohm 600 watt 15" subwoofer. Will it work with or without the big 3 upgrade ? Just curious because I'm new at higher powered car audio. The biggest I've installed is a 100 watt rms kicker 10" subwoofer in a gmc truck that had a 120amp alternator I believe and it sounds great ! If anyone can give me some advice that would be awesome thank you !!

Finished my install based on this build... a few things... 1- it's a little harder to route the power wire with the 6-speed version of the car. 2- the kit that James recommended below... the ground wire isn't long enough to use that nut on the crossmember. Did the same treatment to a bolt back by the seat bracket and it worked out fine 3- this took a LOT longer than the video makes it look like! 4- couldn't find terminals small enough to make the tweeter bypass harness... I bought the ones off of Tacotunes and used those. 5- don't underestimate how much ALL of the installation materials cost... mdf, wire, crimp connections, speaker adapters if you wish to use them instead of making your own, tools, etc, etc, etc.... it all adds up. Not to mention the 20+ hours it took me to build everything.Not complaining in the least... I know it was done right and I can put it all back to stock if I have to... not a single Toyota wire was cut in the making of this video! I love my new system (bought the main pieces from you guys too!) and learned a LOT about car audio in the process. Thanks so much!!! A couple pics... instagram.com/p/BQOW4iOA7BU/ instagram.com/p/BQOW3CrgEPS/ I couldn't bring myself to use sheet metal screws for all the components on the back of the seats. I used 4 Riv Nuts to attach the amp board (wrapped with 3M Di-noc).

I work in a automotive collision repair shop and it made me smile when you noted to bag and label your parts. So many people just go tearing through their vehicle, removing nuts, bolts, screws and clips and always end up reinstalling parts incorrectly, or having "extra" parts. I'm a perfectionist and have to have everything installed back to original condition. Great video man! You got a new sub for sure. One question. Did you run your power down one side and audio cable down the other? I heard that the power cable will interfere with the audio lines. Is there a component you can install in the audio cable to cut down or remove noise?

yes I have the same question, I think it has something to do with completing the circuit. If the tweeter is not plugged in then the connection is broken, hence the need for the jumper loops he made.

the factory tweeter has a small cap to protect the tweeter, the kenwood tweeter already has a cap in the passive xover network.The loop is just ensure the factory socket can be used back without cutting any factory wire. Correct me if I amwrong

This was super helpful but I ran into issues with my 2010 Corolla when installing new speakers. I’ve upgraded these speakers like 8 years ago, thought I’d do another speaker upgrade. I have an aftermarket head unit that pushes out 45 watt rms x 4. I can only play music to max 16 to 18 out of 35 volume. Music is distorted around 18 to 23 volume on some tracks. I just installed speakers rated for 100 watt rms but my aftermarket radio only pushes out 45 watts rms. If I play music up till 16-18 it sounds literally the same as if I hadn’t done the upgrade. Also radio cuts off making me believe that the speakers aren’t getting the power they need so I’ll have to get a amp for my speakers. I also have a subwoofer with amp installed. My only issue right now is the way Toyota wired the tweeters in the door. I have 2 way component speakers in the front 6.5” and I bought 1” tweeters with crossovers that have black and red wire. I just don’t want to mess up anything so if there’s anyone that can help or direct me to a wiring diagram it would help. Not sure if I’m suppose to splice red and black into pink/ purple or into the red or white. I’m beyond confused. If anyone can advise or help out I would greatly appreciate it.
@Qualitymobilevideo Жыл бұрын
You have a wiring issue, that vehicle is easy to run new speaker wires through the door. Run new speaker wire from the headunit through the doors.
@ryanmubair5269 Жыл бұрын
@@Qualitymobilevideo initially I bought a 9 wire speaker cable 18 awg OFC. The plan was to run the 4ch amp using 18 awg wire while using the factory speaker harness. However, I decided to get 12 gauge OFC speaker wire 100 ft roll. I’m thinking of keeping the speaker amp in the trunk that way I can easily connect ch3&4 in the trunk. Only need to wire to ch1&2 (both front doors) and the tweeters. Will speaker wire interfere with RCA wire? Should I run power amp and speaker wires on one side while running rca on the other side. Essentially I’m replacing 18 awg factory wiring with 12 gauge. I’ll leave the 18 awg disconnected in the back, while connecting the new 12 gauge. Also plan on doing the big three upgrade to see if that helps. If not, I seen a 250 & 320 amp high output alternator for my vehicle. That seems like a good upgrade but it’s nearly $400 USD. That’s more like $550 CAD. I can’t seem to find any shop locally with HO alt most are 100 amps and 160 amp. But I don’t know if the shop selling to me is legit saying 160 and selling me a 100 amp to scam me. I really wouldn’t know. I’ll have to take my chance and see. Once I run knew speaker wires to my front door, do I just splice and connect the positive and negative to + and - terminals respectively to the crossover then to my tweeter. Toyota has four wires going to the tweeter. Im just really eager to replace those old tweeters. It’s been pouring all day so really couldn’t get much done today. Hoping for some sunshine tomorrow so I can get some wiring done. Thanks! Appreciate it.

So that small box thing above the amp, that carried the lows from the factory speakers into the amp then to the sub? I'm used to after market head units where you need to the run the stereo wires to the amp...
@Qualitymobilevideo7 жыл бұрын
Sort of! It's a Line Output Converter. It turns the speaker outputs of the radio into low level signals for the amplifier to register. Here's our video going into detail on them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYnRaWBursqYa9E

I like your work. I used to do car audio back in the 70's and early 80's, so we had to go to the electronics store on Olympic Blvd. to get our raw speakers and put together units that worked and sounded good. Ever heard of Electronic Entertainment in Beverly hills?? They knew about my car when someone told them about it Keep up the good work. I like how you combine the good stuff with the OEM wiring and make it sound good!!!!@@Qualitymobilevideo

I need help!!! I have a 2004 chevy blazer. I know nothing about speakers and wattage ,dba, etc. What I do know is that my blazer has two speakers in the dash. I think they are 4x6 I know I have 2 speakers in the front doors and 2 in the back doors. I'm not sure what size they are, That being said, here is my concern. I recently bought a pioneer AVH-120BT 6.2" Din radio and I would like to know what kind of speakers would be compatible with it, without blowing. The output specs on this radio reads as follows... Power output..... 14 W RMS x 4 Channels S/N....... 91 dba (Reference: 1 W into 4 Keep in mind, that I also had a DS18 1500w amp and two 12" subwoofers installed. The speakers that are in it now are not connected to the amp/ nor will the future speakers I buy. I'm just looking for higher quality speakers that wont get drowned out with the DS18 Subwoofers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

So for the best sound quality in a complete setup in a car audio system, would you recommend turning the bass off completely in the car speakers all together and only have the subwoofer make the low frequencies ?
@Qualitymobilevideo7 жыл бұрын
Well yea that's the idea of tuning! Here's a quick run-down: You want your speakers and components to play the mid and high frequencies of your audio, and you want balance between them all. Play music with a little bit of everything, lots of high notes like brass and cymbals, mids like vocals and guitar, plus lows like bass and drums. Adjust your stereo’s fade control to send the audio just ot he front speakers. Turn on the high pass filter of the amplifier and tune it to eliminate the low notes coming from them. Do the same with the rear speakers, and set the fader back to its original position. You want your subwoofers to play the low end frequencies and your components to play the highs. The idea is to cut the bass from the components so they’re not trying to reproduce lower frequencies that will cause distortion and clipping and the opposite for the subwoofers, you want them to play low bass frequencies not highs. The crossover points on the amp limit the frequency response of the speaker before the music gets to the speaker. Lets go over low-pass filter. Turn your sub’s amp gain to it slowest position, make sure bass boost is off and any remote level control is set to middle. Switch the low-pass filter on and set it as high as you can. Also make sure your stereo’s bass boost is turned off if it has it. Begin to play music at about 1/4 volume, and turn up the suubwoofer gain on the amp until the subwoofer audio completely overpowers the speakers without distorting. Next adjust the sub’s amplifier low-pass filter down until the high and mid frequencies disappear. The low-pass filter will now effectively eliminate the highs and mids from the subwoofer, vocals, strings, drum cymbals, you don’t want tat coming from your subs. If you have bass boost carefully turn it up to your liking, but be careful this is a common place for distortion to peak its annoying head into your system. If you hear it, lower the sub’s amp gain until its gone. When dealing with ported enclosures, use the subsconic filter on your amplifier to control overly loud low notes. A lot from this point depends on personal preference, play with the low pass settings until you get the bass that you want.

take the frame at 16:30 for example, he has both speakers and the sub to hook up to the amp but he only has two slots on the amp connected..? to connect all 3 (two speakers and the sub) he should need at least a 3 channel amp, 3 sets of pos and neg connections. and also, he doesnt even have the front speakers connected into the amp, how are they going to be amplified? the sound quality would be mainly orientated towards the back of the car and way off balance from the front because the back speakers and sub would be making more sound than the fronts.
@Qualitymobilevideo5 жыл бұрын
The frame that you're talking about, is just ONE Subwoofer wired to the speaker terminals. Not really sure where you're getting the "speakers" from. The speakers are powered by the head unit. I think you're getting confused by the power, ground and remote turn on and Line output converter connections
@cheeseman22325 жыл бұрын
Really great video. I have to read up and the little converter used. I am curious why you didn't use a capacitor in line from the battery to the amp? It is my understanding that the capacitor prevents voltage fluctuation in the car's voltage, preventing damage to other components (computers) in the car.

I hammer all over that install because of the ground point and where you got your line in, then watched the rest, all my comments got deleted your a good installer. only makes me wished I'd had a flush cut trim bit and router because it would have speed up my installs a lot. for thoses of you concerned about MDF and water in doors, in 17 years doing installs in retail or 34+ dealer work I've never see MDF swell up on a door panel install, but it could. I'd let this guy do my car anyday! How much Pizza do you eat? you look kinda young for Beer! 4 hours to do an install I've done in 2. but I wasn't recording it. and I didn't RTA it. I can't say I know what it sounded like I was never that big a fan on kenwoods speakers or subs.

Can I ask? If I'll add more 12v accessories like a light or LCD TV, how should I set up the power? Those things don't have remote turn on terminals, they'll stay on if I connect them directly from a battery (through a distribution block or splice?).

So My Cars Battery is in the trunk that helps some? And my Back seat has a Recessed middle armrest. I think I could modify by removing the back leather behind the armrest and when armrest is in down position I could have a mesh that would allow for sub woofer sound to pass to inside car.
