Austin does deserve the Oscar. Baz deserves a directorial Oscar as well. I love how Baz draws a parallel from the tent revival scene straight to the Hayride performance one, basically equating Rock n Roll to having a religious experience. Just brilliant !!!

I am old enough to have been an Elvis fan throughout his entire career and I loved him. Thank you Baz, Austin, Hank, and the entire cast and crew for this incredible film. I loved that the film included the context of culture, the musical history, political environment, and allowed us to experience Elvis as a human being with depth and a personal history rather than just an icon.

Just as all of these actors portray, Elvis is so much more to many of us than just a musician. He represented a world where you could come from literally nothing and become a worldwide hero. His story transcends generations. I was 10 when he died--I recall my parents having the TV on endlessly the week of his tragic death, just watching the funeral and the news broadcasts. I've brought my family up listening to Elvis--the words tell a fantastic story, emotional, inspirational and beautiful. I'm not a big Hollywood fan, but I'm obsessed with this movie--it MUST win best picture, best actor, best supporting actor, best costumes... full SWEEP of the Oscars! Let's go!

Yeah but I wanted George McKay to win for 1917 and he didn't. Part of the problem was the other lead actor was so good too, however, George carried the film from beginning to the last scene. The other actor died halfway thru. I don't want Austin to have to compete with Tom Hanks. Austin was the lead you cannot do the movie without him. This movie could have been narrated by the Memphis mafia or even Priscilla. So the colonel was not absolutely necessary to do the film

Fantastic acting from Austin. Made me feel like we actually had Elvis back again. Great directing hair stylist set design costumes choreography all involved to make this film so realistic. I appreciate all the research Austin did on Elvis to portray him so realistic. He understood Elvis- the real Elvis. I feel like this is the best film about Elvis and is true to the way his life really was and how he truly felt. He was only truly happy when he was married and had Lisa Marie and could sing his own type of music. Anyway I have seen the movie twice and plan to see it at least two more times maybe even Everyday . 🤗🥰

If we look back at winners of the academy awards, some of those winners are not presently remembered, some are. It’s really what resonates with you that has any reality. For me this artistic effort on all levels speaks volumes about the human spirit to achieve,recreate and create beauty through sacrifice and sweat art that can touch not only the hearts of the viewer but also make alive history that will always be remembered because of it’s incredible scarcity and magic.

Elvis as well as other performers are a symbolic stamp on a certain period. Their image brings memories of time pass with their music, movements and wardrobe style. Such is the reason we make them our idealistic icon figure, we imitate them because they are part of our culture and vision of such time and place.

No offence intended here. But we've cleared up the myth and lies that Elvis was a racist and also that he stole songs from black people. There's just one more thing remaining. And it's the multiple videos of Elvis on KZbin and TicTok going around saying he was a paedophile. This topic has yet to be addressed. And in light of MJ and R.Kelly fans, and also the interviews made by Priscilla Presley herself, it has now become the elephant in the room.

tom hanks really gets it. before Hanks did this film, he really had no idea about elvis's soul, depth , artistry and diversity. AFTER Tom did the film, he fully understood why elvis presley is the iconic artist that he was. it's all revealed in his critically acclaimed recordings in multiple genres of music. I've always used the analogy of showing that both Ella Fitzgerald and Elvis Presley, are two of the greatest artists of the past century. Neither was a songwriter, but BOTH interpreted the words of other writers, into critically acclaimed masterpieces! Ella and elvis, two of the best ever.

@@bradhuskers no one of the generation after Elvis passed knows Elvis at all. They only know of the cartoonish Elvis the generations after Presley’s era made him out to be through social media hate. Especially after Public Enemy in the 1980’s ( Coole D ) song as Elvis as a racist it’s and thief. Today Coole D admits Elvis was just a scapegoat because a white boy got some credit for making Rock n Roll acceptable to white community and Also for Elvis being named “ KING OF ROCK N ROLL “. Unfortunately let’s first get the criteria what it takes to be called that title. Everyone has their interpretation and criteria.
@bradhuskers
@bradhuskers 2 жыл бұрын
@ornellabarbaro3861 Ok. I'm from that era. I've studied this subject longer than you've been alive. Elvis is no scapegoat. Those critically acclaimed recordings at sun studio are LITERALLY the fusion of white country with black rhythm and blues, REVELATORY and innovative. That's pure artistry, soul, depth and diversity. Chuck D is a racist fool. The mainstream media is corrupt. After those groundbreaking critically acclaimed recordings at sun, elvis's critically acclaimed recordings continued at RCA. Then, after the two years of army service, he goes back to the recording studio and records more critically acclaimed masterpieces. THAT'S THE VERY DEFINITION OF AN ARTIST. Elvis was changing, branching out into multiple genres of music. His corrupt con man manager put him in plenty of stupid movies, BUT elvis's soul, depth and diversity allowed him to return to the studio and lay down more critically acclaimed recordings. Anyone who calls elvis a "scapegoat', is a low IQ fool, and a mentally unstable sheep. Again, I've lived thru that era. I've studied this.

I was born after the Elvis craze and was raised on Beatles and Stones. I thought he was a great singer but sort of a misfit in later years with his capes and rhinestone outfits. I only knew the cliche. This film BLEW me away! Everything Baz put into this film will bring renewed interest to this Oh-Mazing gifted and soulful artist. He did not embellish the tabloid story of drug use and weight gain. He focused on the influences that shaped Elvis as a young boy and included background into his relationship with other black artists of his day. Incredible how Elvis always got back handed compliments about “stealing” black blues. People should stop mis characterizing this guy. Thank you Baz for writing about his humanity. The insight into his history with Parker is devastating and a perspective I wasn’t aware of. The story is both heartbreaking and compelling. The performances and writing are excellent. This film should be up for sooooooo many awards including: editing, soundtrack, director, actors (including Tom Hanks’s transformative performance as the slimy leech and Opportunist Colonel Parker.) The film is brilliant.

Congratulations dear Austin, you were SUPERB, MAGNIFICENT, all the hard work paid off. I have to disagree with you, you say Elvis was known in the South and were it not for that SOB colonel (which was a lie) Elvis would not have become famous. Example: Loretta Lynn was famous Country singer, she knew of Patsy Cline and what a fantastic singer she was. Loretta took Patsy under her wings and took Patsy along to wherever she was singing, hence Patsy became famous too. Unfortunately her untimely death in a plane crash was awfully sad. Famous artist would have done the same for Elvis, guaranteed!!! Elvis would have had a decent Manager, that would not have robbed him blind like the SOB colonel did. Elvis was such a down to Earth person, he avoided confrontations and kept on with this bastard thieve manipulator that absolutely destroyed all of Elvis’ dreams, of doing good movies that projected his great talent as an actor. NO, HAD TO DO THESE SUGARY WATER MOVIES WERE THE SINGING WOULD BRING THE TEENS= == MORE MONEY. PERIOD!!!! That’s all the old bastard thought about, his own pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Elvis suffered a lot, this old man treated Elvis as though he were his SLAVE!!! Elvis wanted to go overseas, he had so man fans and Fan Clubs all over the world. NO COULD NOT DO IT!!!! Some cacameme excuse about security overseas!!!!! Nothing but a bunch of Bullshit. He was afraid they grab him and he would be extradited. THE OLD MAN KILLED ELVIS!!!! No If’s and or But’s about it! P E. R. I. O. D !!!!!! Elvis’ dreams ALL went down the drain. He still had a good sense of humor, but deep down he was a very unhappy man What kept him going was his Faith!!! I have to give credit we’re credit is due, Priscilla made EPE come back to life. Everything would have been lost were it not for her! On the other hand, I think of her as a BIG hypocrite, practically kissing the phony colonel butt, SHE KNEW PERFECTLY WELL THAT HE DESTROYED ALL OF ELVIS’ DREAMS!!!! I cannot forgive her for that, it kind of looks like she didn’t give a damn either about Elvis DREAMS!!!!!!!! Austin dearest, you are such an adorable human being!!! I wish you Only the very best in life, wether coming or going, whatever you do in what lie’s ahead of you!!!! Take good care of your health. May all blessings be upon you ALWAYS! I wish you were on of my grandsons!

I had learned with this film, perhaps is a necessity to not give a sole person a full control of your career and life to nobody.

Everyone that loved the colonel was manipulated by him,they just don't realize it! Tom Parker got the recognition and help Elvis the first couple of years,but after that he needed a different manager!

I wonder if some of the stage performances are filmed in sections. Because Austin was so physical in those scenes.

I love everything I have seen and heard about Austin Butler. He seems almost as wonderful in his own right as the amazing man he portrayed, Elvis Presley. He is gorgeous, very sweet, shy and likeable from the first moment you see him and Elvis was all of those things too. Elvis was the best at everything he did and Austin is the best actor of today! There is no doubt as to all of those simularities. I have wondered, is Austin Butler the incarnation of Elvis Presley? The timing makes it possible. Many things do. The career drive of the two young men. The need to be the best at what they do. The extraordinary good looks, the personality and Austins amazing ability to act, sound, move and perform like Elvis. It is as if Austin became Elvis while making the movie Elvis.Of course an incarnated soul does not remember who they were previously. However, under hypnosis, we can regress back in time and remember one or even many past lives. As a QHHT practitioner, oh how I would love to regress Austin or at least be in the room when someone who is a qualified and good hypnotist regresses him! There can be no pre talk of the posibility or any suggestions give. But a truly good and honest practioner of QHHT such as the daughter of the famous Dolores Cannon, Julia Cannon, who is carrying on her mother's work . QHHT practioners, Quantum Healing Hypnosis Therapy is a fantastic regression hypnotism technique developed by world famous Dolores Cannon. If Austin Butler is indeed the incarnation of Elvis Presley, his subconscious mind knows. I would not trust any regular hypnotist try to find out!

The dude that plays BB KING did not embody BB KING to me in any way shape or form! He talks in this interview how he felt it was necessary to study BB’s expressions or manorism , well ok that’s why in the film no one would have any idea that you were BB other than being called BB! Study to show thy self approved! That what Austin Butler did! & that definitely came thru in Austin’s portrayal of Elvis! On top of dude admitting his lazy approach in playing BB KING, he says in this interview that Baz in many ways is a Bigger legend than Elvis🥴!!! This dudes a joke! Love Baz, recognize his talent in forming this film👍 do think he could have picked someone else to play the Great BB KING!!!
