I got into doing apres soft gel extensions a few months ago and developed a gel allergy (only after I'd dropped $100 on their holiday sales of course...) Tried everything from HEMA-free gels (nope still allergic) to adhering with regular base/top coat to no avail and I didn't want to use glue. Never done dip before so I had no idea dip base was more sticky and I'm looking forward to trying this method. Thank you so much for posting this! (Edited for clarification)

Idk how I missed this video on your channel - I love watching you dip your nubbies (most similar to my own), but when you have extensions, they're so beautiful! I've been dying to see an application video... I haven't been a subscriber for long, and am watching the past, idk, 3 years of videos out of order, ha! I think in one I watched recently you'd mentioned how awkward you are in applying your own, but that you'd done your daughter's on camera, before... so glad this video came up on my feed. I tried the polygel hack last week, half popped off before the week was out. Applied a fresh set with base gel last Sunday, much more successfully so far. Definitely trying the base liquid method next!

I did this, and filed off and soaked off my previous gel dip nails from the previous application. It took me 4 hours.!!! Started at 8.00am and finished just in time for lunch. But full coverage tips worked out beautifully. And it was a life saver as I’ve discovered that I am allergic to certain products. 😢 and I can cover up my poor damaged nails with the tips until my nails grow out.

I developed a gel allergy as well (after doing gel nails exclusively for two years). I will say just be careful about the full coverage tips you use. Some of them are made with the same ingredients as gel, so they will cause a reaction. I found out the hard way after buying some tips that said “acrylic” or “plastic.” 😩 I dont know if you watch Dip Nails By Jewlz but she has a gel allergy as well. She uses Triple D’s full coverage tips and hasn’t had any issues. If you need a full coverage tip option, those tips might be a good option. ☺️

Lorri, I can tell you that there are a lot of hypoallergenic gels on the market, thankfully nowadays! I’m a licensed nail tech and over the years I’ve developed a few allergies but once I stopped exposing my skin to the products, by use of gloves and being careful not to come in contact with any of them, my allergies disappeared. It’s important to know exactly what you’ve developed an allergy to, specifically what ingredient and then stay away from using them for a good long while. Today there are so many safer and less toxic products on the market you can use and you might find a year or 2 down the road if you go back to trying one of your old favorites, you might’ve just had a temporary allergic reaction but not have developed a lifelong allergy. Good luck and have no fear, we gratefully live in a time where there are hundreds if not thousands of options out there! Have fun trying new products! Enjoy creating awesome nails.👍😁💅🏼

Even tips with a small apex, like you used here, have quite a gap when I apply them.
@MarlaKris2 жыл бұрын
Definitely revel or double dip. Once you have them secured, you can go back in between the extension and your free edge and seal any gap there may be!

@@MarlaKris Thank you so much! I'm not likely to have a free edge for several months thanks to a horrible gel reaction 🤬
@htgurney2 жыл бұрын
With this video being 6 months old, I hope you see this comment/question… Would it work the same if I were to brush the dip base on my natural nail first, instead of on the tip? AND, in your video for doing dip powder over these extensions, you use dip base and only rough up the tips before hand. Would the “prep” be the same if I were to do dips using the gel method?
@MarlaKris2 жыл бұрын
Hey love! You can brush the base on the nail BUT depending on the curve of the extension and the curve of your nail, you may need excess base to fill the gap between the nail and the extension, so it’ll totally depend on your nails and your extensions. As far as dipping over them, I’d suggest giving them a slight rough so the dip sticks to them to avoid pop offs ❤️
