Regular visitors to my channel know how much I love my Audi SQ5. Keeping my car clean in the winter is virtually impossible, but since I am on a two week Spring Break holiday, I thought I would take this opportunity to perform a full exterior detail of the SQ5 using some of my new Gyeon products. In this first of two videos, I prepare the car for a graphene coating. Unfortunately, the bottle was defective so I had to quickly adapt and come up with a Plan B. Rick, Just run a large room dehumidifier to alleviate the damp, humid air. Comes with a long hose that you can set to empty into your drainage system. Our upstate NY weather is similar, and I began running one during my garage washes. Total game changer. Humidity went from mid 70's% to 40%.

Yeah, I have a Frigidaire Dehumidifier that is working out great. Gets things dry in short order. 🤘

Really Helped with my Ho Hum...Mechanical work to get done on BMW. Cold, Windy, Crappy day outside and although I got a little bit done it was just a tick too cold in garage. I came in to eat and found the vid up. Back at it tomorrow.

I use PPF Wash on my car without ppf. I like to foam it and the fact that it contains a bit of iron remover is a nice bonus. Really slick too. I love the mix in this vid. Some of your smooth filming and editing and then the segments with your comments. We have the same melting snow here. The car looks like sh*t after just one short drive. Looking forward to the rest :)

I just used Q2M and I’m waiting for it to rain here in Nashville. I had difficulty with the product flow out of the applicator pad. At first nothing was coming out and I had to unscrew the pad and poor product onto the pad. Then after a minute or so product started flooding out of the pad. Overall I have high hopes!

Great video Rick. Looking forward to Part 2. I will be doing the exact same thing to my sports car in the next few weeks as the weather breaks here where I live. I got the Polish Angel "VIKING" series. Viking Coat and Viking Spritz. I also got Dr. Beasley's NSP Surface Primers/Polishes to try out so I plan on polishing with those to the highest gloss possible while priming the surface then applying the Viking Coat and maintaining it with the Viking Spritz. I've been wanting to try the Adams Visco Clay along with that unique "press" device that comes with it. It looks like that press might give the clay the ability to "sheer off" the contamination a little better than if it was flat. It may be a gimmick, but it piqued my interest. I am going to get some of that and give it a try this time. One question. Do you use a water softening system? I was just curious. I use tap water at the moment but I have really hard water so I have to stay away from the sun while washing. If I do a rinseless wash, I just use gallon containers of distilled water from the grocery store which works great. I am wanting to get some type of system like the CR Spotless or something similar to that to cut down on the mineral deposits. As long as I stay out of the sun and work quickly, it doesn't seem to be too much of a problem but the water purifying system would be nice. Gyeon makes some top tier products for reasonable prices. I have several of their products I use on a regular basis. I just got their new fabric cleaner to try out for the interior detail process of my car. The next one I want to get is that Quickview window sealant.

I have a lot of success with the Visco "patterned" clay by Adam's. I would suggest getting it nice a pliable with the heat of your hand first.

This was my first time using Gyeon Foam in a while and I like it. It definitely has strong cleaning power. When I hit it with my new pressure washer, dirt didn't stand a chance. (I'm a terrible product reviewer!)

I always give a little backwards foam action - it has become quite in demand! I have the foam on there because that nozzle likes to turn on me when I don't want it to. Not sure what's wrong with it.

Really appreciate it! Also, what size orifice is on your 40 degree nozzle? I have a 3.0 and someone mentioned to me not to use it because you can damage the pressure washer? Hi Rick, Can’t wait for the next update. Bought a Sweater and Hoodie from Rad. Specially because I drive only Audi’s myself. Bought an RS5 Cabriolet two years ago. 2013 V8 450HP. A beauty and dream car. It’s to far from The Netherlands to Canada to come and visit you for a full cleaning package 😂 But I learn a lot from your videos. Great editing and they make me totaly ZEN... Question: Can you make a footage of the engine cleaning one day? I am not a professional detailer but I would love te clean the engine. The only thing is that I am afraid to damage something. It still boggles my mind that I have merch and people buy it! Thanks so much to both of you. I have done a full engine compartment detail in the past, but I had a really unfortunate incident in which I got water in a sensor of a friend's Kia Sorrento and it caused quite a headache. (and $540). I will do a light detail around the engine compartment, but I am not comfortable introducing water into the engine bay. I need someone to show me how it can be done safely and because every car is different, I just don't want to take the risk. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy that RS5 in good health and spirits! I love those cars. I'm detailing a black one next week.

New pressure washer seems to be working well. Did you pick up much of anything with the claybar or was it pretty clean?

Yes, the new pressure washer is amazing. I did pick up some grit with the clay bar but not enough to see the visible results on the bar itself. I think the decontamination wash and IRON spray was highly effective.

Fantastic job, as always, Rick! Looks like the Adams coating held up fairly well, was that indeed the case? How do you like the Gyeon products relative to their Adams counterparts?

Yeah, I give the Adam's coating full props. A single coat lasted two winters and that's not easy! I am not a product snob so I have enjoyed pretty much every product I have ever used by most companies. So far, I am really liking the wide variety of choice that my Gyeon products are offering me. I really liked the PPF Wash and Restart Decon Wash. I feel like they were the perfect products for this project. I'm looking forward to using the Cure spray to finish things off and get this second video out on Thursday evening.

I don't see how it can't. I am fairly certain the coating has completely worn away in spots. This is the thing about coatings that bugs me, you never know for sure how well it is holding up.

Yes, my entire front end is protected with SunTek self-healing film. Other portions as well such as the pillars and leading edge of the roof. It’s a must here.

There's a few "ceramic" tire dressings kicking around, I would steer you towards using one of them as opposed to an actual ceramic coating designed for paint.
