Carly is such a scammy company with some really morally questionable policies. Really interesting the choice of only mentioning the annual fee in the fine print and then not specifying how much said annual fee would be, shady in my opinion. Heard a guy who was hit with the Annual fee, he had missed that he had to cancel his “subscription”, that he seemingly didn’t know he had (unlike me he didn’t read the fine print and wasn’t disgusted by it) so was hit with a fee seemingly out of nowhere and Carlys support wasn’t at all helpful and allegedly pretty rude.

It's weird because it's got all the signs of having more mods that the previous owner removed knowing it was being repo'd, the repo might not have been because of finance on the car, it could have been a no money so we're taking something of equivalent value situation with some other loan they had
@DaytonCarCare2 ай бұрын
Technically it's a diverter valve, but yeah doesn't look good with those mods (or lack of). Didn't bother with at least a cheap cone filter and couldn't fit a proper ignition coil. I hope the timing belt was serviced otherwise look forward to replacing bent valves when it fails. Although not a deal breaker. VW made so many 1.8t and put them into Audi A4s, TTs, VW Jettas, and Passats that engine and or replacement parts are easily found and even performance mods are affordable. 1.8t are pretty reliable and can get 350 HP on stock internals.

That's my car! I own the exact same '02 TT mk1 quattro 225hp, it was the fastest spec before the 3.2 VR6 came out. Love this thing with all my heart. 🤩 The 3rd coil looks like a TT mk2 one, it's a common upgrade many people do because the TT had a recall on the coils early on in its life. The catch can indicates that the engine has had a PCV delete done. A lot of people don't understand what the PCV pipes are for (which is mostly vacuum-controlled valves for emission regulation and stuff) and claim they're redundant. The PCV pipes and hoses are notorious for becoming brittle with age and they're a nightmare to debug since it's such a complicated web. Many people just rip them out and plug the sensors with a dummy to avoid the ECU throwing engine codes. It's definitely causing some issues on yours. The missing air filter will also definitely cause the MAF to throw errors, the wizard is right about that.

Being an Industrial Designer myself I couldn't believe the design of the TT Quattro and ordered mine in 1999 before they were in the US. I have a 2005 TT 3.2L VR6 Quattro with DSG and Audi SLine tuning. My Daily Driver. Best car I have ever owned and for 17 years the lowest cost of ownership car I have ever owned. Just this last year I decided to do some work on it to keep it in good nick. Had some sun damaged parts repainted, new headliner, replaced the instrument cluster for the dreaded Red Screen issue common to Mk I TTs- replaced the headlights and one tail light that had a chip in it. Had a new fuel pump installed and replaced the AC compressor. It runs and looks like new. And still goes like a demon with that paddle shifting DSG, which has been bullet proof. The 05 TT 3.2 DSG Quattro is the perfect sports car. Naturally aspirated. Great low end torque and no lag. Practical, in that I have carried lumber home in it because of its load space. Handles like a dream, especially on twisty turning roads. Nimble. Not the fastest thing on the road, but plenty fast enough for me. But it shifts faster and more perfectly than any manual car. And it has a distinctive style that is unlike any other sports car out there. ( most sports cars these days look like modern tennis shoes. ) The interior holds up well because it was made out of superior materials and everything that looks like metal is Real aluminum. Not chromed plastic. It’s a design triumph. I love mine.

@christopherpardell4418 The only major issue with mine is that the clutches would slip when the transmission got hot. My chains were in spec at -5 on both. I have replaced the clutches, transmission speed sensor, and the timing chains and guides.
@christopherpardell44182 ай бұрын
@@roccoracer hmm- I wonder if the clutch issue is from prior owners doing that “launch control” thing. In my 05 DSG they had disabled that as it caused problems with the transmission. The only issue I have ever had with the DSG was about 2 years in when it suddenly started shifting weird. I thought, “oh this is going to be expensive.” But it turned out to be a $40 brake light switch had gone bad. The switch is how the DSG knows if you are braking and without that input it could not always correctly guess which gear to preselect. Did you replace the chains yourself or have someone else do it? If the latter, how much did that run? I’ve got 132k on mine and it’s still in spec but I would like to know what I’m in for when I replace them. Also curious, Is yours a US import? Do you know if it has a speed limiter installed? On the 05 DSG I discovered one day that my dash screen started flashing 127. It wouldn’t stop until I turned the car off and then on again. Came to find out that the speed limiter flashes the top speed you were going when it engages. The European versions don’t have this and can go up to 150. Back in 07 there were guys who would remove that chip or re-program it, but it’s apparently in the transmission, and I decided I wanted to keep the car in SLine spec. I don’t need to go any faster than that, anyway.

I was so crazy about this car, found one locally with 75k miles, got inside and saw the failing interior and said "Nope!" I love the design but it just felt fragile. Suspension clunks, falling headliner, lots of scrapes and scratches everywhere. I'd definitely jump at a TT RS as I think they're gonna go up in value over time. Enzo / McLaren fast. Insanely great and available with a 6M too!
@samoksner2 ай бұрын
And the worst to work on surely... why can't they ever make a car that holds up? They clearly know how to make an awesome car when it rolls out of the factory but man they turn to trash so fast.
@fboomerang2 ай бұрын
@@samoksner The one I looked at had the sexy red interior too! I was so stoked to go look at it but unfortunately - or fortunately - too reasonable to buy it. There is a reason they depreciate so fast. I think if it was only a weekend garage queen it would be right for someone. But Yeah, even with the low miles it would have been $2k ro $3k to get it all sorted.
@DaytonCarCare2 ай бұрын
@@samoksner 1.8t is easy to work on. I could swap an engine in and out in a day. I do prefer the FWD TT to the AWD model because the clutch slave cylinder is external so makes it easy to swap out or bleed. The AWD (Quattro) model is internal and you have to remove the transmission to access it.

Was an owner of a mk1 225qc for many years. Most of the 00s and early 10s. One of my favorite cars I've owned. After it was totaled in a freak engine fire. I kept lots of aftermarket and stock parts, that I either saved or were never installed in hopes of buying another one day. But I've been considering getting rid of the parts. If you see this, Hoovie, I'd like the parts to go to a good home. Off the top of my head, del rio stage 3 kit, KW clubsports, the OE sport side skirts, ABT wing, seats. some rare modshack/TTstuff parts, oz wheels, spacers, and interior parts. a bunch more goodies that I'm forgetting too.

Tells us something about Mr. Hoovie. It's also part of the fun drama of the videos.. Viewers enjoy it when Hoovie is 'taken to the office'. One thing we always have to remember when watching KZbin videos. Nothing is what it seems to be, and the longer they create videos for their channels, the less real they will be. It's sales of entertainment.

The Quattro system on those uses a Haldex clutch system to "power" the rear wheels. There is no center differential, only a clutch pack between the drive shaft to the back and the pinion for the rear diff. The rear wheels do not come into play until there is slip detected at the front wheels.
