I flew on those Cessnas several times. I worked in te compound across the street from Augusta Airport for 31 years.

I remember flying on one of those back in January of 2022 from Dawson Community Airport to Billings Logan International Airport. I believe the registration was N267CA, and when we left Glendive, it was very cloudy, but when we got to Billings it was very sunny!

What day was this? Was it yesterday? I flew out of Boston on the 5th and saw a Cape Air do this. Could be normal, but I do vaguely remember a plane taking off as Cape was landing.

If I want to fly cape air, which of their aircraft would be worth it for me to try? The Cessna or the tecnams?
@flapsnslatsКүн бұрын
Depends what you like. The Cessnas are a more intimate experience, smaller cabin. Views of ground aren’t as good bc low wing. Tecnams are slightly bigger, better view of ground.

I’ll also add, Cape swaps them in and out all the time, so it’s very hard to predictably get a Tecnam.

Any pilots out there? Is it proper to cut power on landing like that, still several feet in the air, and glide down to the runway? I thought you are supposed to fly under power all the way down.
@jerrymartin93238 сағат бұрын
Absolutely normal. Once over the threshold power to idle, hold the nose up to help bleed off speed. Goal is to touch down just as you hear the stall warning horn.

Without giving a lot of unnecessary pros and cons, for piston powered aircraft it's completely safe and normal to land with throttles all the way closed. This is how it's taught in primary training. It is of course acceptable to ease the power out gently instead, which I personally prefer unless landing on a short field. Turbine powered aircraft land with power in as they take longer to spool up for a go-around, and they often come in with a much higher flare requiring some power to maintain.

They also landed on 33R which is only 2557', so power all the way out is the best landing technique for the runway.

I was excited by that too! The "secret" runway.
