I love how everybody it’s a critic. Her voice isn’t the same, true but it has improved so so much in the last two years compared to how it was in 2015. She’s not 21 anymore so we got to accept that but still a freaking stunning voice. I’m a principal dancer, I’m 38 now going on 39, do I dance like I used to when I was 21? no I don’t but even though my body isn’t the same cos of my knowledge and experience I can still bring it on stage. Vernon Petersen exactly the upper belts was very thin, nasal, and off key but everything else was fine. She needs to find a way to make her upper belts more open and supported but until then. If I was her I would just stick to mid belts. She still is a phenomenal singer. Due to her condition she have to find a better way to use the beautiful instrument that she has.

BoyWithAGlassheart Definitely, what I've noticed about Leona's upper belts is that she favors closed vowels (that 'eeeeh'/uuuuh sound) over open vowels ( the Aaah/aaaih? you know what I mean lol). I would love for her to take some time to practice those open vowels and then integrate them into the performance. perhaps also lowering the key so as to sing within her supported range only, then gradually taking it up as she rebuilds that X factor stamina.

Apart from a couple of off notes I think she sang really beautifully. Her voice in most parts actually sounds like back ten years ago and there’s that sweetness in it (her voice) that she had that for a while was missing. Loved it! Can’t wait for GMA and new music

I know some people will like to point out the negative and they have the right to there opinion. But at the end of it all you can’t do anything but be proud of her every time she steps on a stage and decides to sing live and raw. No auto tune, no playbacks playing over her, she decides every time to give it her all even when she’s not at her best and to me that one example of bravery at its finest. Not knowing if you’re going to hit every note perfectly but still presenting to everyone that being live means something and you don’t need an audio recording to sing for you, she gives the saying “performing live” meaning.

If she sang this lower it would still be absolutely beautiful. Although I do agree with you. This song should be lowered by 1 semitone, and she would absolutely smash it out of the park. Some of the performances she done when she didn't know she had hashimoto's thyroiditis, should have been lowered also. Such a talented woman. The throatiness is coming back, she's squeezing so much of her vocal cords to push sound out that it sounded thin. But I think this is due to stress from recording, because she definitely did better in 2017 with the same song.

RedHeatCorona92 hashimotos disease affects the thyroid and vocal cords. It can cause and enlarged thyroid and vocal cord paralysis when it flares up. When shes ill it sounds like she has vocal cord closure issues and has to really force the sound and is shaky. Just watch her other 2018 performances (DVF performance her tone is amazing) where its clear to see shes much healthier than in this one.

Leona has been battling an autoimmune disease which affects the thyroid, so ultimately affects her vocal cords. Although she did say a few years back she's preserving her voice, after it took a thrashing with live performances from 2007 to 2010, and then again 2011 to 2013. With all that said, I think she was amazing here, especially since she's well into her 30's now. Her Spirit era was over 10 years ago now.
