Should one man have all the power? Democracies work because there are checks and balances between the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government. This prevents a situation where the majority party wants to violate the human rights of minorities, or the chief executive turns out to be corrupt and we need the other two branches of government to have the power to investigate him. In the Westminster system, legislators can only keep their jobs by following the orders of the party leader, so a majority unchecked by judicial review effectively means one man has all the power.

Judges are elected in a comity that needs 7/9 for approval. The 9 people in the comity are: 2 - from the government 2 - elected by the kneset, from the kneset (usually 1 from the government, and 1 from the opposition. Technically the government has majority in the kneset, and can choose both. But to this day they keep picking 1 from each) 3 - supreme court judges 2 - lawyers from the bar association So we have: 3* - government 1*- opposition 2- lawyers 3 - judges With a need for 7 to agree with each other to choose a new judge. Note: This means that EVERY judge had to get the approval of the government to get elected. And anther note: If the supreme court will overturn the law, it is because the law is not legal - for example, if the new law contradicts a law that already exists. The nice thing is - They have to explain the legal reasons behind their every decision, and if they decide to overturn a law: they also have to explain what changes the kneset can make to pass the law again. A democracy is strong when the governing body is restricted, but can still function. We can also say that Netanyaho is a living proof that the governing body can function perfectly fine with the current restrictions...

You are talking like in Israel they elect themselves by themselves, In Israel every new judge has to be approved by the government AND by a supreme judge. I would also like to note that the supreme court of USA and Israel are very different from one anther. In general, all the governing bodies in USA are very different from Israel. They are bad comparisons to one anther. For example, Israel's government is USA's President, while also being the majority in the kneset - which is "Israel's House of Electors and the Senate" at the same time. While the opposition hold the left over sits in the kneset. As you see, it is impossible to really compare them to each other. If you want to find a democracy to compare to, EU holds examples which are much more similar to Israel

@@eschur every judge needs at least 1 government representative and 1 supreme court judge to be elected. (This is by design, because agreeing with each other and finding the middle ground is how you should solve most problems) The change to this that the Government wanted to pass was: For every time that judges are getting elected - 2 will be decided by the government, while the rest will only need government approval. (This was in addition to changing the numbers of representatives). The next time they need to elect judges - they will need to elect 4. So the "idea" is that 50% would be picked only by the government, while the rest would only need the approval of them. Now, why did I put "idea" in " "? You might have found the existence of the flat number "2" in the law odd, and asked yourself why it isn't "X %" instead. Yes, the number in the law is 2, and you probably won't be shocked to learn that usually they choose less than 4 judges at a time, it is very rare to vote on 4, let alone more than 4. This time 2 is 50%, like the "idea" they are trying to sell, but the time after that will be 2 - said law would allow them to choose them both.
@marc-andreservant201 Жыл бұрын
Ask yourself, in any democracy, why the prime minister would ever try to pass a law granting himself immunity from prosecution and reducing the powers of the court system. Bruh. You have little to zero knowledge on the middle east, so you better shut up with your democracy talk. If it wasn't for international intervention in these areas, namely America for their military interventions and coups, or Saudi Arabia for thriving to keep Arab society divided to weaken Iran, supporting terror groups in Syria, paying them and giving them guns and training, then maybe there would be any way of having a Democratic state in these areas. But you can not have a democracy in countries where foreign powers constantly want to intervene and society is divided, you will be dead inside weeks if you are not a strong authoritarian. The whole middle east would be more peaceful without Israel anyways, nobody really has any sympathy for that settler colonial state anyways, it has only been a further obstacle on having to deal with an entity that's interest is to take over large parts of arab lands. He offended, The Lord and served Baal. So it will be again, you serve pleasure but you get strife. You honor Technology, not The Lord. You depend on other nation not on G-d covenant. You shed blood and not sew peace! You have two choices, one make your enemy, take citizenship to defend Israel or buy their lands from them at a far price. Get other nations to offer them citizenship. With their money if they choose it. Their they will find peace in, another land. They will call home! If they choose war then drive them from the land. Basically; Day1 as a precursor to Global Media. Drivers license, national i.d. , travelers papers, work papers, educational route, current standing and anything else. The Revival can spring forth from Day1. Education Revival is what the modern civilized world is ultimately leading towards. Please help, before it gets too warm. #H.E.M.I.
