Yes it’s absolutely insane. I got a couple DemonFx TS9/808 Clone and the R4 G4 clone pedals and with an Argos (Joyos Precision drive, even though Mosky has the Accurate Drive (4 modes) and DemonFx blatantly copied, I settled for the Joyo. BEOD is My Uzi, G3 is My Darkflame. Behringer is My Boss 7 Band and the only thing original on the board is a Mooer Radar and EHX Nano LPN1 booster. Dang nab it I forgot My Saturn works Fs300 clone switch, and the VSN pro looper. It is a Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Looper, and tuner for My ambient or pretty clean break up to almost liquid synth tones just dripping. Okay I forgot what I was Doing. Stay in school kids!

Among the things I like here is you’re NOT demoing your playing and playing ability, and you play to the extent of demonstrating the guitar and/or pedals. You’re putting that focus first. It’s not a question of what you’re trying to do here. Thanks.

Ty. I CANT STAND watching pedal demos and dudes clearly trying to show off instead of just demoing the pedals. It's obvious as hell when others do it. I don't want to see some dude that plays as well as literally a million other people on earth try to run scales the entire time and barely tweak the pedals. This guy does it better.

This may sound a little silly, but I think it deserves to be said: When watching these types of evaluations, I'm not only learning about the pedals featured, I'm really also learning how to really objectively assess them. When I buy a new stompbox, I'll usually start off with the effect pretty low, gradually build it up for a couple of play-through's, dime all controls, then back it off to a setting I can live with. This strategy really leads to an endless chain of knob-twiddling instead of actually playing. Using your evaluation method, I can usually figure out the strengths and weaknesses of a pedal and dial in a rough setting that I like. So, thank you! I should probably point out that I've bought a couple of the pedals you've featured for the "afford-a-board."

@@60CycleHumcast I had to check to be sure... I was thinking this board is just an ever changing thing, and may never be "finished." I mean, right now, every video about it ends in the currently best state. In terms of its science though, it is currently in the hypothesis testing phase, so there is much flux, and fiddly bits. Eventually, you may find a holding point, which is like the best affordaboard you've been able to muster, and it can be touted as the "finished" board in a scientific theory kind of way. It may not be the best, but there has yet to be something to disprove it. :) Maybe you can give it the "finished" title once you've made three or four videos without actually changing out a pedal for whatever's being tested? I love the idea of multiple boards too. Once you have a big collection of cheap pedals those will come together much more quickly, I feel. Maybe you could even do collaborations with other guitar KZbinrs, for genres they have more experience with, and build a board with them. Like get things to a state of "this is the Metal board," then get on with a metal KZbinr and have them test it, show them the other cheap options, see if they would tweak it, etc. Not sure if you can do that without being in the same physical space... could be something for the future though. ;) Love this channel. Keep it up, Ryan!

Another guy on YT clarified the difference between the Joyo Ultimate Drive and the Kmise Ultimate Drive in another video I commented on, stating: "The Kmise runs fine on 18V. It sounds just like the Joyo version, but with symmetrical clipping. The closest thing to a clone that sounds like my OCD v1.2. It does lack the output buffer, like a real OCD used to, so it has that issue with vol jumps unless you follow it in your chain with a buffered pedal (I use a buffered delay to counter the OCD's problems in this area)."
@spadearcher5178
@spadearcher5178 Жыл бұрын
That’s excellent information for OCD lovers such as myself! Yes, the OG Fulltones had that issue that’s easily solved with a buffer afterwards, just like you suggested. I miss my OCD v1.3, most dynamic amp-like overdrive I ever had… So after reading this, I’m ordering the Kmise and will be running it on 18V.

@@60CycleHumcast good question. I mark the largest bounding box and then note the zoom levels I need to be at if that's necessary. In my case I also just got more webcams and some really good stands. I use three for my live show, and they're set to the views I need for my ugly head, the desk, and a close-up. I have different scenes set up in OBS to mix and match. It works better with physical lenses than webcam software, depending on what kind of cameras you're using. Sometimes the software can be very primitive. Glad to chat about this stuff privately if you like, (contact: juicyjones at Gmail), I haven't gone live in a while and I miss the "back end" of it all, being a one-man self producer for all those years. @@60CycleHumcast I thought much the same but the popping wouldn't go away and, oddly, made other pedals down the chain do the same. I am thinking something is 'off' in the pedal and some voltage/current is moving around like it shouldn't. I read somewhere about about bad capacitors causing similar issues. Still it was really nice of the company to send a replacement. I left positive feedback on eBay and then sent them a note explaining the issue just so they would know in case there was a bad batch or something.

Don't get me wrong, I've been loving these fuzz/overdrive/distortion pedals you've been demonstrating. But what I need is something that can CLEANLY boost my volume for a solo run. Have you run into something like that in these inexpensive pedals? I've been looking over the AFFORDABOARD videos and haven't really seen one that doesn't alter/add something to the signal. Something to stomp on for the solo and stomp on again when it's done. Cheers!!!

The thing is a boost pedal will tend to cause an overdrive phenomenon in your amp. Unless your amp preamp has a lot of headroom on the input cirvuit, the preamp is going to begin to distort when you overdrive it. That's why they call it overdrive.

Most of these Kmise pedals sound pretty decent and housed in a metal chassis, for the money they’re worth the money and you can’t really complain, if you buy on AliExpress shipped to the UK from the Kmise store they’re all £17.02 which is worth it to me if they last a month and break, which I doubt they would if you look after your gear, and then buy another to replace if need be, you’d spend more going for 3 pints in a British pub or two packs of tobacco.

@@djay6651 My first pedal was a DOD Grunge in 1994 (yeah yeah, I know, gimme a break, I was 14), and I think I paid about $90 for it new. It was comparably priced with all the other newer releases major pedal brands the store carried. $35-40? You sure that was mid 90's? (I'm in the states, not sure if you're maybe in another country.) Anyway, let me know, I'm curious as to why you were seeing them for so much cheaper.

Ah, I see now. You can have 2 delays in line, each playing a different delay time and/or intensity. Apparently Hank Marvin used two delays dialled in thus. This is the sound I'll be after when I construct my guitar, all parts of which are in the air heading towards Australia. I don't play guitar, so I have a bunch of learning to do, and I'm only interested in Shadows catalogue...

@60CycleHumcast

i could spend less and have a gigable rig, Boss Katana 50 ($200) and a squier bullet mustang ($160), throw in a cable and a strap and thats a nearly $400 gigable rig. Of course you could throw in a few of these pedals and hit $500 too.

60 Cycle Hum Oh, for sure! The Katana 50 is the way to go and the Bullet Mustang is a great deal (though I would probably go with the Harley Benton HB, personally. :)). I mean even if you wanted to go with an amp & cab, you could easily get a Micro Terror & a 1x12 and it would sound great.

@@ladyluckdrums I am still on the fence on clicking the buy button, but only because I need to play with the toys I already have. You don't think of chorus as aggressive,?..johhny winters always used a chorus. If you set the depth on full and the rate the slowest it adds a really cool depth to your amp..its very subtle its crazy..but it's hip..

Three years later but not much has changed, these are still around $18 but I look at some of the other really cheap pedals and they are mostly around $40 so I think, is this $40 pedal REally worth TWO of those other ones with same bottom-end components and maximum SMD's minimum viability? I really dont think so, maybe a paint job and a few superfluous knobs added for that extra twenty bucks? Yeah, I hope they make a reverb for cheap soon.
