Impressive supermarket tour. Yeah, since rice is the staple food in Malaysia, you can find them packed in big bags...5kgs - 10kgs 😂 Shark(s) is/are usually sold in wet market... very rare to find them in supermarket. Thanks for sharing this informative vlog, Ken. Cheers !

Hi Ken. Only hyper markets like, say, the Jaya Grocer chain sell sourdough bread, inter alia, in their bakery section. But you can buy such breads in most small privately-owned bakeries or in the so called artisanal setups! I love the various types of “brot”which can be found in Germany, Switzerland and so on . Delicious when eaten with schinken!

I loved shopping in KL supermarkets when I lived there. Green tea Kit Kat biscuits and so many different flavours of Lays compared to home. There was a whole aisle for noodles, every flavour you could think of.

Lulu popular for local and tourist. I usually buy from here or Jaya grocer before back to Indonesia. Variation, different product and sometimes lower price make Malaysia grocery interesting. Air fare to KL usually cheaper than Indonesia domestic flight.

I was surprised that the fish was announced as shark. It was never shark, as we can observe on the fins, but in total for me this was a nice overview over a very typical Malaysian supermarket. Thanks for it!!

For supermatket, do go to the hypermarket like NSK (including non halal) and Hero. They have a good range of almost everything you need.

Cheese and bread are more European and American or western foods. It's cheaper to stick to common Asian foods while staying there.

Lulu owned by Indian businessman based in UAE. A premium hypermart, hence the price 😀

Lulu I think is from China, Aeon is Japanese, giant is now malaysian owned, mydin is malaysian owned, lotus' is thai owned, jaya grocer and village grocer not sure who owned it but they are very expensive, they cater to high end customers and expats.

No. It's not. The owner of lulu group is from Dubai, UAE. The arab country.
