Patrick, you and your partner ( her name? ) are doing an awesome job, everything is ordely presented, easy to understand, with a good mix of context principles and technique, for grappling sport mma and self defense. Thank you :-) What I take the most from this is the movement, with the " freeplay" and progressive resistance, everything looks interconnected, mount ( regular, low, high), side mount, backmount and we can easily see the role of transitions, either from top or from bottom, the left and right dynamics, space management, strikes, wrist control, etc etc... I love your practice methodology presentation of course. I would love to have you break down the equation between. Small and big guys. I would love to have your view also on kumira dynamics and head control dynamics. Thank you

Hey JSM, thanks for the comment and suggestions! Glad you enjoyed. And yes, I do plan on making such videos about the Kimura and front headlock systems. Meantime, I would highly recommend John Danaher’s “Enter the System” series for that. Regarding bigger guys, we did a sparring video about it a few months ago, check it out! How to Fight (MUCH!) Bigger, Stronger Opponents kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGOYnXhtp7almrM Enjoy! 🙏 - Patrick

If only there was an innovative, smart training dummy I could practice these techniques with. Hmmmmm. If only.

Im not saying that its impossible, But Its hard to believe any of these full mount escape videos. Ive watch too many professional ufc fighters do nothing but flail their legs and turn their back, only to get knocked out or choked out.
@EffectiveMartialArts3 жыл бұрын
Of course, this will NOT work against a more qualified opponent. Nevertheless, these ARE the techniques you should attempt, and this is the methodology you should follow to acquire the skills. It does look like the fighters are just flayling their legs, but most often, they are actually attempting these precise moves. Their escape attempts are just constantly being prevented or countered. Hope this helps! - Patrick

Your mount escape is sub-optimal... Optimal escape is to grab back of the head with your left hand and front of the head with right hand simultaneously with thumb in the eye...Then you´ll bumb your hips and roll to left side and that´s it you escaped from mount...
@EffectiveMartialArts4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, Michael. Indeed I didn’t cover the bridge & roll vs low mount, which is another option. But I wouldn’t recommend placing both hands on the head since this doesn’t address the posting hand. Hope this helps! 🙏 - Patrick

@@EffectiveMartialArts Posting hand doesn´t matter since you keep holding your thumb inside the eye socket... It´s just another tool which can give your women for example realistic chance to escape..

@@michaelnorris1051 It’s common for people with less fighting experience to over-estimate the efficacy of “dirty” tricks such as eye gouges, groin strikes, or biting... Truth is most fighters can take an eye gouge by closing their eye and still beat the S@*T out of you. More importantly though, to attack when in bottom mount (except fo rare exceptions that require unusually high skill level), would be a grave tactical mistake. ANY attack you launch can be delivered 10X from the top due to positional dominance, so on bottom, your ONLY goal should be to escape asap, and focus on defense 100%. Once escaped, then counter-attack. Doing otherwise will most often just expose you to more danger. It’s like if an army is down to a few men and surrounded on all sides by hundreds; time to hunker down or find a way to disappear... not launch an attack in an open field. But don’t worry, this is a common misconception, and you’ll understand better if you take the time to study fighting more and practice using progressive resistance with qualified training partners. It will take time, but you can do it. Hope this helps! 🙏 - Patrick
