Haha, I'm glad you like it! The couch is mighty comfy... spent a few hot summer nights camped out in the basement...

Basements are great... When I was a teenager, my bedroom was in the basement... so I've been an underground dweller for some time, haha

One of these days I'll get there... I am happy with 1080 for now... moving up will be quite the expense (new player, projector... likely receiver too).

Wow, Frank, you're crushing that space. I have a large house here in CNY. 5 bedrooms. I'm slowly, slowly turning a bedroom into my space. I've been trying to turn one of those rooms into my listening room. It will happen in due time. I love your videos and your space. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the opportunity to tour around your awesome basement, incredible setup man! It’s my dream to create a dedicated space within my home to enjoy music, films and gaming. Like you I’ve been impressed with Dali speakers, having recently acquired a pair of Oberon 5s, surprised by the sound stage and overall sound for a relatively modest size tower speaker. Thanks again Frank all the best for 2025, loving the channel.

Thanks Mark. I have read a lot of very good things about the Oberon 5s. Congrats on the pickup.

Always love seeing your basement and the awesome Poltergeist poster! I wish I had a basement but my house is all on one level. I have a spare room however which is multipurpose for my computer, video games, music, and movies. For listening to CD's, I have the choice of either using the DVD player hooked up to the TV which has a Creative Labs Stage V2 soundbar/subwoofer hooked up to it, or the external DVD drive that I have hooked up to my computer and Logitech Z623 speakers. I was thinking of getting an Audio Technica LP60 or LP70 turntable.

The AX35 gets a lot of mention by a UK HiFi Reviewer on KZbin. He especially compares it when reviewing new amps. He highly recommends it, too. I do have a number of films I watch again. Most I don't watch again. I'm an Aquarian, and we tend to seek new things instead. In horror films, I love Hammer Films due to their nostalgia and atmosphere.

Hey Frank, I got a similar basement setup but my music room is more like my man cave with way too much stuff in it but I'm a collector of all sort of things so it is to be expected lol. My gear is a Fluance RT81 turnatble with an AT95EX cartridge/stylus, Audio Technica LP70X (don't really use it because of the skipping issue) Sony STRDH190 2-ch Stereo Receiver. I have 2 Technics CD player hooked up to it (a 5 disc and a 60+1) and a JVC dual cassette deck. I have between 500 and 600 vinyls, around 600 cds and maybe close to 100 cassettes. I also have a collections of old games (NES, SNES, Sega, PC, Atari, XBOX). I am a big believer in physical media. I also have a 5.1 surround sound Onkyo amp connected to my PC with Energy Speakers which is where I watch most of my movies, the family room has a older 50 inch plasma but is mostly used for game consoles (my kids use it more than I do). Love the videos. Keep on spinning!!

Hey Frank. Well, I have sadly fallen into watching most of my stuff on my laptop or tablet. But maybe I would have liked a slide machine that could have changed depending on my mood. PARTRIDGE FAMILY slides for TPF nights Disco slides for SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER (1977) , Dracula slides for DRACULA (1979) night etc. No BLU RAY for me. Only DVD and Amazon Prime. Only my SNES Flashback for video games. Still the VIBE SOUND for me. I am sadly being controlled by "certain powers" who begrudge space.

SNAS Flashback... cool!

@@Channel33RPM Yea. When I was ill, I told her: "When I get out of this place, the first thing I'm going to do is play some STAR FOX." One of my buddies said he had a thing for MARIO KART. So many people were waiting for the N 64 mini. But it never happened. Shrugs.

Have always loved your music room Frank, but the movie room looks a cool place to hang out as well. Love those Dali speakers you have and I have a set of Dali Spektor 2 bookshelf speakers for my tiny music room/office. Lovely sound and very good value for money. Dont have the room for floorstanding speakers at the moment. That arcade games machine takes me back to the days when I would dive into the arcade to play space invaders or missile command. Its amazing how such basic graphics at the time just blew us away !!

What a great space to have to dedicate to music, films and arcade games! Glad you’re enjoying your new speakers…I’d love a pair of tower speakers but my listening room would be overpowered by them. My main listening set up are B&W 603 bookshelf speakers, Rega Brio amp, Sony CD player & Yahama tape deck (both from the late 90s), Node X streamer and a Technics 1210GR turntable with an Ortofon Blue cartridge. I’m looking at a cartridge change sometime…but overall love the sound of my set up…so in no rush to change…other than for the sake of upgrading

Hello Frank, hope you and the fam are well. Lotsa cool gear. I can understand why you spend a lot of time down there, especially in the winter months, thanks for the tour! I have a Sony receiver, w/ a set each of Sony floor standing and bookshelf speakers. I feed a Onkyo DX-C390 6 disc changer and a U-turn turntable (w/ Ortofon 5M E cartridge) thru the receiver. I use Presonus E4.5 speakers to play audio from the PC. Keep on spinnin' my friend!

What’s the advantage of the streaming devices? Can you not just Bluetooth from your phone to your receiver/amplifier? That’s how I always do it so curious about the purpose of these devices.
@Channel33RPM28 минут бұрын
Good question. With a streamer, you generally get better sound quality. Rather than streaming over bluetooth, you are streaming over wifi (your phone is not transmitting the audio - rather, it's acting more like a remote control for the streamer box). Most streamers (Wiim, Bluesound Node, etc.) are capable of streaming hi-res audio, which has really been a game changer.
on sorting, are you a last name, first name (e.g. Bowie, David) or first name last name (David Bowie) kind of chap. This is important!! I'm in the first (Bowie, David) camp.
@Channel33RPM4 сағат бұрын
Yup, same... last name, first name.
@MickSupper3 сағат бұрын
Only thing is that their names are stage names, but I still use "last name" first.
