Those oil filter cover bolts strip out extremely easily!

O rings need to change all the time ! It’s good practice

Those O rings on this model are weird in that they seem to stretch and will hot seat properly in the oil cover cap.

can also mention to loosen off or remove the fill cap. helps it to drain faster

Hey, do you have a way of checking the color of the oil without draining it? I usually just stick a zip tie down the breather but idk how much I trust that.

What year is your bike ?

When you took your filter out was there any metal shavings in it ? I did a oil change on my 09 ttr 230 and found shavings in it any chance where they might be from It's my first bike
@WingingItDIY3 жыл бұрын
There usually is a few, it really depends on the amount. If the filter is completely covered in them then you may have an issue. Also, check the sheen of your used oil. If it looks like someone poured really fine glitter into it that can be a sign of a bigger problem too. You can also decrease the time between oil changes if you are riding a lot.

Our low-hour 2021 230 keeps pumping excessive crankcase oil into the air box, even at idle. Any idea why that is happening? Thank you!

Most likely worn piston rings.

@@BobSmith-mc7uq Thank you. Bike only has a few hours on it but I guess it's possible the rings are somehow defective.

How often do you change your oil filter ?
@WingingItDIY3 жыл бұрын
It is serviceable so you can just clean it out with some oil every oil change. It is pretty cheap it probably wouldn't hurt to change it every other oil change.

What carburetor are you using on it? It doesn't look like the original one
@lucasgabrielcosta9926 Жыл бұрын
At least not like the original one from the Brazilian version of this bike
@WingingItDIY11 ай бұрын
I never changed it myself. I dont think the previous owner did either. As far as I know its the OEM.
@lucasgabrielcosta992611 ай бұрын
@@WingingItDIY Interesting. Do you have trouble with the throttle some times jamming? Here in Brazil it's a very common thing to happen because of the carburetor

How often should I change the oil
@WingingItDIY3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how much riding you do. I typically do it at the end of the season before winter but the manual recommends every 1800 miles or every three months, whichever comes first.

Maybe read the manual *before* making a video explaining how to do something you're not that familiar with?
