full process of rotogravure cylinder production by Janoschka

This film guides you through the whole production process of a rotogravure cylinder and an embossing roller. Besides the preperation of the steelbase according to the following engraving process, the film illustrates three different ways of engraving: electro-mechanical engraving, direct laser engraving and etching. For the production of the embossing roller a embossing unit is used.

Don't know how I got here, but once again the algorithm blows my mind, because I am TOTALLY interested in learning obscure technical/industrial processes. The algorithm just seems to KNOW exactly which totally random videos that I will like, and sometimes it's right on, and it feeds them to me one after another.. and other times, it seems like it thinks I'm someone else, because it will show me one garbage video after another and I can skip 50 videos in a row without being slightly interested in a single one of them. Go figure.

Hi, How is the excess ink removed from the cylinder face please ? I understand a "blade" can be used, but I can't see how this leaves a totally clean surface at thousands or revolutions per minute ? Thanks, Steve

chamber with 2 blades (negative and positive) is used for higher rpm, the colour circulates inside the chamber under pressure. Also a tiny layer of colour stays on the cylinder and cools down the blade (it dries befoe it reaches the printed material). Hard to understand, but it works.

I am on the run from the small-litho printing trade using conventional Moleton damping. It was an uncontrolable "bitty" nightmare for 14 years ! I just love the "new" modern fast flawless printing techniques, it is just jaw-dropping, as you know.... Take care. Steve
