I think 4 inch Is a good compromise for midbass and highest frequency for cheap single way speaker. Compliments for your work.

I totally agree but sometimes you may want to go smaller and there isn't much choice!!

Dayton Audio DATS V3 is freakin' AWESOME. I scared myself not reading the dox 1st, though. All I saw was "Test Impedance" and hooked my newly arrived DATS V3 to a standatd 46mm Piezoelectric transducer and "LO!" I was set. weird thing is the Windows app or the DATS V3 was not acting right for anything further in the app.

Thank you for a brilliant video! These are the exact drivers I've been looking at. Now I know wich ones to choose! You mentioned the T/S data, where may I find that? Thanks again. A given like/sub.

Thanks Martin, the TS parameters pop up after the price etc. You will need to pause the video and zoom in if using a smartphone. Then get the free software WINISP to enter it into. Check out WinIsd tutorial on Toids DIY AUDIO To learn how to enter info and use that to calulate box volume. Good luck with your build!!

TBH, non of them produce a lot of bass but, vomments suggest the sounderlink is the clearest (personally i preferred the white Aiyima - why there should be a difference, i dont know) but you'd want a small sub with any of them.

Hello, I would like to make an affordable alternative to either an Avantone or Auratone speaker to use as reference monitors for a small home studio. Those speakers seem ridiculously expensive to me. I was looking at some of the Dayton Audio stuff, but, I don't know enough about speakers to know which ones to get. The monitors by Avantone and Auratone look like they aren't ported. Also, the idea is that if you can create a mix on these type of speakers that sounds good, the mix will sound good on different audio systems. The "magic" of mixing, they say, is getting the mids right. Could you share some thoughts on this. Tomorrow is "Cyber Monday" and maybe I can get a few dollars off on a couple of drivers.
@DIY-AUDIO2 жыл бұрын
Jeff, the Chinese drivers are OK but will always need a bit more bass ie a small sub. Personally after much trial, if you are wanting a small ie 3" or so driver, id go for either the dayton ps95-8 or the Markaudio CHN-50. Best of luck but, whatever you build I'm sure you'll want to keep trying to improve!!
@themadcookieman2 жыл бұрын
@@DIY-AUDIO I just happened to comment on that 3" driver video in order to reach you. I think I actually need a 4 or 5 inch driver. I don't know, though, if there is a specifically "mid-range" driver I need to find or if the terms are just sort of interchangeable between "mid-range" driver and "full-range" driver. One of the terms I heard being mentioned for excellent mixing monitors was "quick bass roll-off". I can't find it now, but, I saw sort of a 3-d type of graph that showed this visually on a Yamaha NS-10mm. It was describing how that quick bass roll off was one of the reasons that those speakers were so popular for mixing. Any thoughts?

I worked with many engineers in studios over the years and they all use small not so great speakers after the do a mix on the main speakers ,if I was thinking about getting a small system together have a look into car speakers, especially the ones in Volvos,go to scrap yards and you won't be disappointed,all different sizes, sound really good and cheaper

What is the best Midrange for car audio 3 inch ?
@DIY-AUDIO2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I wouldn't have a clue about car audio I'm afraid!!
@LeonUnger Жыл бұрын
@@DIY-AUDIO Like me !! Car audio for me is only to make some noise.... BTW, to listem news only ! Music we hear at home, in a apropriate room , from a good vinyl , or a good open reel tape recorder. And I don't even give much importance to sounds via bluetooth, because I don't consider the fidelity of that transmission medium, and recently I started accepting DEEZER's streaming service, because now they have Hi Fidelity, which transmits at 1440Khz, 24 bits, but even so has an abrupt cutoff at 16Khz. But it's already something better than when the service starts to work. Spotify then, what a horrible thing !!! For me it was developed to listen on the cell phone, which has crappy sound, with crappy headphones, and doing other things, that is, the person won't even stop to enjoy music. So whatever the person is listening to is fine. The same applies to the car.
