Hej Maria, it was a lovely video, it felt light and chatty but at the same time it stuck to me and left traces in my thoughts. So thank you for that. My word for 2024 is "stormy" (I don't mean it negatively though, more in the sense of having been tossed around by a lot of happenings that I still haven't processed all). So my word for 2025 is "sailing", since I wish to equip myself with better tools and strategies to sail through stormy times, I hope to learn how to navigate more securely and more confidently. By the way, I installed a timelimit for most of my apps on the phone and now I actually don't even feel like opening them more than an hour a day (all together), which is still more than enough :D Thank you for your inspiration!

I've done a word of the year for a long time now and appreciate that it takes me inward rather than having external goals that often lack a deeper Why. I never thought of doing it retrospectively, though! Thanks for that addition to my reflection practice! I need to review 2024 still, but my word for 2025 is Clarity. I always appreciate your videos no matter what kind of content you're posting. ❤🙏

Something feels different about this and your last video Maria, maybe the way your filming I'm not sure but I really like it. Thank you. You are so warm and interesting and its great to see a different way of life to my own. I too have recently decided to do something outside of my comfort zone I have been saying I wanted to do over the last couple of years but never got "round to it" and I did it last week and plan to do more during the year. The house looks great, clean, tidy and ordered and the snow uplighting everything from the outside gives a lovely light. I too have been clearing out, the greenhouse, the shed and kitchen cupboards. Great to have the decks cleared for the spring. I thrift most of my clothes and I stick to certain cuts of tops that drape well, and linen for the summer. I have three great pairs of winter boots, two pairs are Doc M’s that I get refurbished. I love a few quality vintage pieces than a load of instant fashion and I’m lucky to be near a wealthy small Scottish town where the thrift shops have great stuff. 2024 was ‘confirmatory’, and I hope 2025 will be ‘undeterred’ Onward Maria! - x

Happy New Year, Maria! Thanks for all this inspiration. I loved this video. I am surprised that you have almost never skied! That seems strange to me for a Norwegian! My mother was a champion at orienteering when she was young in Norway, and I myself have only every cross-country skied once, but I actually was given a set of second-hand skis. I'm not sure I have the right kind of boots, but I have a very long trail right outside my door, so I think I am going to try it as my 1 new thing this year! I already have two words for this year - Intentionality and Focus. I love "Pengesnakk's" idea of getting rid of 100 things over the year, but I also recommend the book "The 12-Week Year" for thinking about goal-setting from a new perspective (so instead you would focus on what you want to do in a 12-week period, and you act as if that period is your "year." It creates much more of a sense of urgency). I may just borrow Pengesnakk's idea too and yours, of selling some (100) things I've been thinking about re-homing some items I have. Haha, yes its said that norwegians are born with skis on their legs" it is unfortunately not true for me... I just did not enjoy it that much as a kid, so I think my parents gave up on me eventually and let me do all the other things I loved. Lets try more skiing together! 12 weeks sounds like a good time to create some urgency for sure! Bendik and I often talk about short time spans in our freelance work because it is so common that if you have a lot of time to do something you will also spend that amount of time. But if we give ourselves shorter time limits, we are always able to do it faster. Best of luck with selling 100 things! Wishing you a focused and intentional year ❤️❤️

Great video! Excited for your fearless year 🎉 I’ve also felt a lot of fear these past years and am inspired by your video to let that go. My word for 2025 is independence, and I’m looking forward to taking care of myself in all aspects of my life rather than feeling dependent on others for guidance, support, etc. Of course the realistic goal is healthy inter-dependence. I have a similar urge to get out of my comfort zone this year. I love that you went skiing! Also feeling inspired to make that happen this winter now. I used to absolutely love snowboarding (after I got past my fears) and then once I lost the opportunity to do it, started letting those worries creep back in and hold me back again. No more! Here’s to a fantastic 2025.

Lovely video! ❤️ I could really relate to so much. I started decluttering and selling stuff this year also. So far I put to sell 300 items and have been selling about 10 things a day. It is hard work but very satisfying. I also wanted to start skiing again. Take care!

My word or goal for last year was 'be present' which helped me to see and enjoy the everyday. I'm not sure yet of a word for this year, but the goal is to slow down and do one thing at a time. Hi Maria! I am enjoying watching this video right now! I have a question for you - you mentioned you have a student loan. I thought all secondary education was free in Norway. Was this a different kind of education?

Attending university is free yes, but most people take up a student loan to pay for their food, housing and all that while studying. Usually you have to work on the side as well, as the loans are not that big. With a student loan you get some of the money as a loan and some as a stipend though, so over all it is a very good solution!
