We have a delicate oriental rug that you can't use a roller on, can you turn the rollers off so that you're only using suction?

Our ceilings are 11 ft high and it reaches to the top to get all the dust bunnies very easy to use.

Does pet hair stick to the brush rolls? I have a sheltie, and we have to cut hair off the brush roll when we’re done! I have an older model Shark Navigator!

Hey MsTiffanY We ended up buying it, and taking it back the same day! Dog hair sticks to BOTH brush rolls and doesn’t have the powered lift away feature, which means you can’t vacuum under the bed! I’ll just stick with my older model Shark Navigator until it dies!

Couple of points: Did you purchase this machine yourself, or was it supplied free of charge by a retailer, or by Shark themselves, in exchange for a review? I ask this, as often people that are supplied a free machine, tend to be overly positive about it, and this tends to give a rather biassed review. The second point was that I was unable to hear the sound of the machine actually working and in action, due to the editing over it with music. Many people would like to hear how loud or quiet a machine is in use, and by putting a music overlay over the machine's noises tends to suggest you may be hiding the fact that its noisy or high pitched. I also notice that this is a new model to the UK, based on the US version, the Apex, which is a much larger machine, with a substantially larger bin. Once again, Shark gave the UK a sized down version of the same the machine that is available in the US, in this case, the Apex.

Hey! This was supplied by Shark for a review, but there was no requirement for it to be a positive review. I am genuinely very impressed with it. The sound of the machine is not anything out of the ordinary - it is exactly as you'd expect from a vacuum. No louder or quieter. I didn't include the sound as you cannot tell how loud something is over a video as there are too many variables. I was just glad that it didn't have the horrendous high pitched wine that some of the new Dyson's have! I can't say I am surprised that the UK model is smaller. We have smaller houses, less space to store the machine and ultimately, less surface area to clean. That said, I would still have preferred a larger bin capacity if they could have squeezed it in.

As I said, as soon as I saw it, I knew it was the "speed" version of the Apex, which, until now, was not available in the UK. There has been some issues pointed out on an American reviewer's channel, called Just Vlad, hat the soft felt wheel coverings on the front wheels had problems with the felt covering coming off, causing the wheels to disintegrate, and Shark had already had to send him 2 new floorheads due to the wheels not being available to buy on their own, which I find the achilles heel of Shark machines. Here is a link to Just Vlad's video about the second time his Apex had developed a problem with the small wheels on the powerhead, and other videos on his channel, reveal a catalogue of failures to occur with his Shark machines. My issue with Shark is that they are not very durable, and although they might be great when new, things often start going wrong with them faster than you might imagine, which I put down to their Chinese build quality. kzbin.info/www/bejne/boabY2SrqMeootk

That is interesting to hear. As I mentioned in the video, this will be used going forwards as a 'normal vacuum' around the house. Perhaps I'll do a follow up video in months to come if I have any further issues. Thanks for your comments!

No problem, as someone thats done a fair few reviews myself, I always like to read other people's experiences, good and bad with various models, so that I can bring these up in any reviews I do myself, as often, many people do reviews soon after buying a vacuum, and say its wonderful, but some time down the line, when things go wrong, they soon change their opinion, and often you see these on facebook pages of the respective manufacturers, in their "community" sections, and this goes not just for Shark, but also for Dyson, Vax, and other makes. Reading down pages and pages of community posts, gives me an indication of what parts seem to be the most common failure points on various machines, and with Dyson, for example, many people complain about battery failure as soon as the first 2 years of a cordless vacuum's life. With Shark, many people complain about torn powerhead hoses, and electrical cable faults and faulty brushrolls that stop working. Many people will thank you for pointing out any common issues with machines you review, as you may be potentially saving them from spending hard earned money on a machine that is liable to develop a common issue, a year or so down the line. As you point out, it can be a good idea to have another video 6 months down the line, or if something goes wrong.

A lot of Dyson fanboys trash the Shark vacuum cleaners. They love their designer Dyson vacuums even though they run like shit. Shark is the best!

I think most bagless vacuums seem to collect dust on the lid that sticks :)

Folks Save yourself your money buy a Dyson Ask the reviewer to produce a proof of purchase receipt... He can't as its been sent to him by Shark !! So you get a weighted review... I bought one of these and its a cretin of a machine Just doesnt have the lifting power of a Dyson
