The team that did all the interior design work for the Aulani should have done this. Nice….but oh so bland. Same is true of the entire design of this tower compared to Aulani. Disney had a template to follow that would have worked so well for this tower standing next to the wonderful Poly, but for some reason chose not to use it. For some reason they seem to think DVC members want bland resorts that look like they could be anywhere but at a Disney resort. And Mary Blair was all about COLOR - Not beige!

The tower being tagged as "at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows" has been done so for a reason. It's AT Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows and the resort itself will not now be known as "Disney’s Polynesian Villas, Bungalows, and Tower." A stay at the Island Tower means staying Polynesian adjacent, not at the Polynesian itself, in a tower that in no way resembles or echoes any of the elements of the original resort at which it resides. Because the exterior was not designed to organically blend as an extension of the original resort, within a decade's time the Tower itself will likely look like a product of the era in which it was designed and conceived. It won't be an eyesore but it may give off a vibe of being seemingly out of place, sandwiched between the distinctive designs of the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

Clashes too much with the shapes and colors of the existing Polynesian. Rather than an accompaniment, it looks like a total separate property. I would like to think a majority of travelers to WDW want “Disney”; if they wanted small subtle, and monotone touches, they’d spend the same or even LESS money at a Four Seasons, Hilton, etc. Considering what you get for the price, honestly you’re better off at any non Disney resort near WDW….less money, more amenities

I used to stay there in a deluxe studio which slept 5 and had almost a complete second bathroom. Now, I believe the maximum is 4 and only 1 bathroom. Plus there is now a much longer walk to get to the Main House and to get to the transportation center. I think staying at another DVC property which is cheaper pointwise and more in line with the Disney design will be more to my liking.
