241Pizza Basically, numbers the single numbers (1-6) denote the sharpness of a turn - the lower the sharper. 6 being really gentle, no braking really required, to 1 being extremely tight, necessitating heavy braking before the turn. So "Right 6" means an easy right turn, "Left 3" means a fairly tight left turn. The "one hundreds" and "two hundreds" and so on are approximate distances (in meters usually) between turns. So "right 6, 100, left 3" means an easy right turn, followed by 100 meters straight, then a tight left. The rest is pretty self explanatory... "over crest", "tightens", "opens", etc. With those things in mind, try watching it again, and see if you can keep up.
@Laxfield189 жыл бұрын
Ryley Hayes what does minus and plus mean
@BigIronEnjoyer9 жыл бұрын
Not entirely sure, everyone's calls are little different. It might be denoting the length of the turn, or it might be like a modifier on the tightness of the turn, IE 4-minus is a slightly tighter 4. But just watching the video again, I think the most likely thing is its referring to the camber (bank) of the turn. Plus means the road banks with the turn (like a NASCAR oval for example), and minus means the road banks against the turn.. so a right turn with minus camber has the road banking to the left while it turns right. Negative camber turns are obviously a lot tougher to make.
@Laxfield189 жыл бұрын
Ryley Hayes That's along the lines of what I was thinking too. the slope of the turn. was listening to Craig Drew as well on here, seems to have the same types of calls.

For all the ignorants that man did awesome. I've been at mt. Washington twice and it's a scary feeling going up 8 miles 6,288 feet over sea level with hills between 20 to 35 degrees of inclination. It looks like it's easy on camera but when you're going up it's another story. Not to mention the low oxygen because of the altitude which causes disorientation in human brain. I got really sick and it was unbelievable.

I've hiked that thing 2 times.You hike half the way up through forest. When you come out of the forest you see hustling and bustling winds rolling over the top of Tuckerman's Ravine and you know you are in for a drastic change in weather. You crest the ravine. The wind and the cold hits you. Its 30°F colder up there climbing up through the clouds. Boulders await...all boulders all the way to the top. Its exhausting and yet exhilerating. Re-energize at the summit restaurant and take it in.

@hereisjamz it's called pacenotes, a code that the co-driver reads to give the driver a clear picture of what's ahead in terms of speed, degree of corner, any surfaces changes, obstacles, cautions etc. a "6 left + 80 into 3 right gnarly jiggy jiggy 100 5 left" would be a very fast left that's a bit long(+) then 80 yrds/metres into tight right into a set of wiggles with caution & 100 yards/metres after the end of the wiggles there is a fast left corner.

@mariosboom To add to this there are different codes for different drivers. You might hear people say short left or hard right. But Travis uses the number system. A 1 is a really really small turn. A 8 would be a hairpin.

@spokismONE Yeah, just did some more looking and apparently the Audi S2 with the previous record was over 500HP, the same as or more than this Impreza, so that's not really the deciding factor here. Not a Travis Pastrana fanboy by the way, just wanted to point it out.

@RIPPEN94 Not so much my friend. The average grade of the Mt. Washington auto road is 11.6% compared to Pikes peaks 7%. The road itself is barely 2 car widths wide, and if you go off the road on Mt. Washington...you die. The upper half of the road on one side drops straight down with no guard rails. If I remember correctly there isn't a single guard rail up the entire road. Pikes Peak may be longer but the greater challenge and sketch factor goes to Washington.

These drivers not only have someone talking to them constantly but they also need to process what they are saying as well as focus on driving as well as make any necessary changes in their driving as well as push the limits so as to set a good time as well has hold in the nerves since they are driving as fast as possible through dangerous conditions. WOW!!!

Numbers 1-6 tell how sharp the turn is, 1 is very sharp and 6 is a slight curve. Any numbers besides that is distance until the next turn or landmark. i.e. Left 6 200 right 2 into left 2 is a gradual left turn with 200 meters until a sharp right turn immediately into a sharp left turn. I'm guessing Jiggy Jiggy is the name that has been given the section of road that has a few larger kinks but can basically be driven straight through without turning. It's easier than saying kink kink kink.

+JohnnyRocket ill try to explain with words this time. if you ever pushed your car to the limit on public road even the radio is a bit distracting, but when you are pushing to the absolute LIMIT a genuine sports car its hard to hear, understand, remember, apply to reality the directions that are being funneled through the earpiece into the brain box and out through the fingertips and feet. alright?
