@fryreartechnology76114 жыл бұрын
My 2002 BMW Z3 M has a S54 strait 6 with a 6 speed SMGii swap. Last dyno pull without a turbo, no supercharge, no nos, and no methanol I was getting 330hp/300tq at the wheels in 5 gear 1:1 with a wheel speed over 160mph with 6th gear to go still. Them 6 bangers are monsters too. I was told lower my compression and turbo it then 800hp at the wheel is easy but getting the rest of the Z3M to hold together with the power and the SMGii to hold above 500hp is asking to replace it very soon.

You need one of them STIHL Rescue Chainsaw like Firefighters use to cut cars and machinery open. When i was 17 i had a 1983 Cadillac Sedan Deville that would just stop running every time it Rained. So one day I was on my way somewhere and was on the highway and it started raining. The car died so I got so pissed off I grabbed a sledge hammer I had in the trunk and just went to town on it. A State Trooper pulled up got out of his car and said. Kid what are you doing? I looked at him and said this is the last time this piece of shit is ever going to break down on me again and proceeded to drive the sledge hammer through the windshield. The State Trooper just started laughing hysterically and after watching me tire myself out asked if he could take a couple of swings. Well the look that State Trooper got from passing motorists was hysterical by itself LOL. He called a tow truck and actually gave me a ride home. A couple of days later I get a knock at the door and it is this State Trooper and his Sergeant He tells me that people complained that he was beating some poor kids car with a sledgehammer on the side of the road and he brought his Sergeant just to confirm what happened. So me being a smart ass and wanting to have some fun told the Sergeant he was mad at me and destroyed my car. The Sergeant got this serious face and i just started laughing telling the Sergeant i am only kidding telling him what happened. We all had a good laugh!

I wonder how will you decide to go at it, but since you need front collision protection and more leg room and what not, it will probably be the best to use stock frame of front half of the car as reference points and build up a proper frame tube from the ground up. At this point, it might be easier by all means, than reinforcing the cut out frame and tweaking with it. It's nice to have stock suspension placement, instead of building all the necessary mounting points though.

You are missing a vital tool for this job. Jaws of life! Have that windshield section out in no time. Besides very precise tool.
@ZeroCool-vn9bd4 жыл бұрын
You should have welded in supports before starting to cut up the strait chassis, along with making sure it was supported evenly so the chassis does not flex. This would have saved you a lot of measuring later in the process. It's still much easier to supplement a unibody car with tubing sections or a cage when it has not moved.. Love the passion though, but if you actually plan on using the wheel mounting structure from the boxy then I'm really curious why you shot yourself in the foot at this early stage in the build. An hour of putting supports in that keep the shape while you cut out what you need can really save a lot of time when you are building the chassis.
