Megasquirt ms3 can run the m70. There are a couple manual swapped e32 750s. There are 3 ecus running that motor, plus one for the transmission.
@seanforehand7554 жыл бұрын
I believe the easiest way to manual swap and get it to run would be the megasquirt. You can order a kit and literally build the board, or buy it ready to go. The harness seems daunting, but you can use a lot of gm sensors, and gm electric throttle bodies. While lame in comparison to a mechanical throttle, way easier. Im sure you can make a manual work by fooling the stock ecus into thinking the auto is in neutral.

Good luck with the build, that crank to transaxle adapter fixes a lot of issues for you though I agree it wouldn't hurt to check the balance of the flex/adapter/coverplate assembly. Have you considered using some of the newer aero system designs that you see on race cars today that create a vacuum under the car to help suck it down to the road? First thing that came to mind when you were describing the wing effect.
@MrLordZenki4 жыл бұрын
The Chaparral 2J from 1969 used a snowmobile engine to drive a large fan mounted under the car. It also had Lexan sideskirts that hugged the ground and it quite literally vacuumed itself to the ground. When it wasn't broken it obliterated the competition. The sanctioning body indirectly banned it the next year by adding a rule that cars could only use engines to drive the wheels.
@OGSomeOne4 жыл бұрын
@@MrLordZenki they don't use a seperate engine to create the vacuum under most of the modern race cars. It's done with aero design. Ducting to the engine compartment and other areas that need cooling along with some underbody air vanes to direct air which causes a vacuum under the center/rear of the vehicle.
@MrLordZenki4 жыл бұрын
@@OGSomeOne I know it's done differently now, but my point was it's not something unique to modern cars. Also the "fan car" concept is still valid with modern technology.

As already mentioned, megasquirt3 evo will give you everything you need plus a good number of GPIO and you can connect it all directly to a digital dash as well. Best bang for your buck with the ms and plenty of support from the community in the msextra forum. I don’t know if it supports dual throttle body, but I am sure the additional features that you won’t use like boost control and so on can be adapted to work for the throttle body’s. The one that can probably provide a ton of help with questions is muaythaiboxer on the msextra forum. He has developed a ton of code and features for the mega squirt.

M70 also has two fuel pumps, fuel rails, distributors, mass air flow sensors, crankshaft position sensors, coolant temperature sensors and throttle bodies. The crankshaft position sensors are quite expensive and they often fail in BMW. In my e36 (it runs on Siemens and this V12 runs on Bosch ECU so there is some difference) I had to change crankshaft position sensor twice because new one failed after few months.

Could you nab the ECU from a BMW 850CSI? Some of those ran 6 speed manuals. You'd probably need the flywheel from it. And that car deserves a NA V12. Im curious about the ecu also, its going to be a good challenge, if you decide going to a stand alone ecu I would suggest asking Haltec for a collaboration or a donation of an ecu given that they supply the ecu for the v12 ls engines. Ps I have no idea if a haltec ecu would work on that engine. Love the videos, I will sitck arround until that car runs on a racetrack lol

I read that the Megasquirt Gold Box will run that V12 easily even with the electric throttle bodies. I would make a new intake manifold, I'm fairly good at it, and shorten the runner length by half and run a single 102mm GM style mechanical throttle body. BTW: I run a pair of eBay turbos (GT45) on my daily driver, for two years now, and have not had a single problem with them, getting a transmission to live behind that gen 6 big block has been a problem however.

i was wondering this all along: are you building these cars for the track only or will you get them road legal? if you want them to be road legal, is that possible in america? here in germany, the only way to build a car yourself and get it road legal is to take an old chassis from before there were any significant regulations like from an old beetle and just build your car ontop of that. to register it, you would then have to get paperwork for every single modification which can be very expensive
@nickhanscome4 жыл бұрын
It's very easy in America, State to State the laws have variation. But so few people do a self built car that they only really require mirrors, lighting, a horn and not much else. In Arizona the car has to pass emissions regulations based on the year, which isn't an issue when your self build car identifies at a 1970 King Zero
