The 1.3's a little gem, the 1.7's a fast rough nut.
@ursuss1003 ай бұрын
1.3 are very good and economic in terms of fuel consumption, however they need cautious and regular service to stay reliable as some parts can be fragile...some 1.3s do have injection or even worse, timing chain issues among others... My dad used to have an SUV with the 1.7 in it and I called it a fat old bird because it always felt underpowered lmao xD
@ursuss1003 ай бұрын
I've just done a full service on my 1.3 as well (on a Corsa D though, but everything except the fuel filter is basically the same). Mine was feeling a bit sluggish/lacking power when throttling back up from a standstill, particularly when the AC was on, to the point that it sometimes stalled. After I replaced the fuel filter (which wasn't done the previous service as it had not reached the mileage interval yet, but had since exceeded it a little), it immediately ran noticeably better... So probably my old filter had gone bad, which wouldn't have been surprising. :)

There is a trick for opening the diesel filter housing if you don't have any tools for it. Take an old leather belt (it's best to steal one from your wife, he he he), put it around, twist the ends tightly, put a metal rod in the twisted end of the belt, It works, it also works with an oil filter, best regards from Germany

Another awesome video George, how did you learn so much about cars and taking them apart? Do you ever start taking a car apart then think to yourself what the hell have I got myself into? Keep up the good work thanks for uploading videos for us to watch

Lol sometimes yes! I’ve learned most of what I know from my dad and watching KZbin videos pretty much 👍🏻

Hiya mate, I'm thinking of getting one of these and getting rid of my v6 merc ml. I only do 50 miles week in short 4 mile journeys. Do you think this engine will be ok with such short journeys? I'm thinking in terms of egr and dfp problems. Or should I be looking at a petrol vehicle? Cheers

Great video,can i ask what the procedure is after changing the diesel filter before starting the engine,is it just a case of turning the ignition on and off a few times so that the pump can fill up the new filter?
@GeorgeAusters5 жыл бұрын
That is correct :)
@505allan3 жыл бұрын
I’ve just changed my fuel filter. You can actually hear the pump filling up the filter housing when you turn the ignition on. Then it’ll probably start straight up.

How many times a year is it recommend to change oil on car? Am I delivery driver and Iv got the corsa sting, by watching some of your videos id rather do it my self than take it to a garage

I’d recommend every 5-6k miles or 1-2 times per year if you want your engine to last

how often should o chain the cambelt on my vauxhall corsa 1.4 diesal?
@GeorgeAusters4 жыл бұрын
Does it have a belt or a chain? Cambelts should be replaced every 70,000 miles or 10 years
@robertpaulson98664 жыл бұрын
Just bought a 2008 73k. Yep hear a squeaky cam belt. Knew a guy who just threw water on them but i will add belt to the to do list. Guessing t belt aux belts could do with a go over.
@garywinterbottom60734 жыл бұрын
1.3 cdti has timing chain not belt if a squeak it's the auxiliary belt which is self adjustment so try replacing that.

Dude that's a lot of servicing for a Corsa C. I just change air and oil filters and change oil. Can't really be bothered to put that much effort in for a Cat S Corsa C that isn't really worth more than £300.
@GeorgeAusters5 жыл бұрын
That’s fine if you don’t want to man. I do it because I need my car to be reliable and last. I also enjoy working on cars.
@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount5 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeAusters I would make the effort if it was something a bit more upmarket like a Golf or an A3. For those I'd take out a day to do everything because I know those will give me top performance, reliability, fuel econ etc. In a Corsa that was in an accident and that has an engine with an over revving issue, yeah I'm OK.

@@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount Depends how much the car means to you... Like I said I need this to be reliable as I need it on the road every single day of the year
