And thank you for doing the morning routine & the nightly routine. And also, thanx for listing the products after, I know I can't possibly be the only one that appreciates that. Great video. Wonderful video, Gemma! A tip I thought you might find interesting: Everyone not only needs to be wearing a minimum SPF 30, but make sure to be wearing ENOUGH amount-wise to reach the SPF protection labeled on the bottle which comes to 2 mg per square cm of skin per dermatologists. (This has to do with how companies test levels of SPF & make those determinations.) On average, that would be around 1 teaspoon to cover the face, head, & front of the neck. Otherwise, if only applying a third of that amount, it takes SPF protection to only a third of the number on the bottle. Go figure! Also, I just started last month using the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (in the big white tub) to moisturize at night, & love it! I'm combo-oily skintype, & no issues with breakouts. In fact, I feel it has helped tremendously in helping to heal rosacea-related acne lesions. I've never tried anything from The Ordinary, but am about to order their azelaic acid suspension to help with the rosacea breakouts. I understand it's also good for acne. Best of all, so affordable! Thank you for all your wonderful recommendations & sharing your routine! 😊 💖 👍🏻 🌷

Hi, I have another video that outlines the importance of how much spf is needed on the skin to make the rating valid. I perhaps should have mentioned this though. I use factor 50 every day, however I do vary the quantity of product I use depending on the weather. At the moment the factor I'm probably getting will be about 15. xxx

Great video. I love The Ordinary products and have quite a few i use morning and evening. My favourite pamper session is oil cleanse to remove makeup etc, a clay mask for ten minutes followed by The Ordinary Aha + BHa peeling solution for 10 mins. Clean that off and apply serums then slap on a Sheet Mask for 30 mins. At the end of that i feel like the bees knees ( whatever that feels like) and my skin feels so clean, hydrated and soft. I like L'Oreals series of mud masks although I have heard good things about the Sand & Sky masks which i might try when i finish what i have. xx

This was so helpful in many ways! The best tip was the proper order of serums, cream, and oils. I was doing oils before cream thinking the cream would "seal" the oil to my skin. Rookie mistake! Now I know why I was getting disappointed with my results. Does that order also apply to when you put on eye cream as part of the moisturizing routine? I typically only use eye cream around my eyes and want to make sure my order is correct. Thank you so much for all your efforts. I find you quite enjoyable to watch and seem consistently to get a really good take away from your videos.
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheryl, yes it does apply to both. If you just have a bog standard moisturiser that is basically there to seal in products then you can use that last, as you don't want it to penetrate into the skin....but if your cream has active ingredients that you want to sink into the skin then applying them before oil is a must xxx

I've heard dermatologists say that using vitamin c product on an evening is defeating the object of its purpose of protecting against free radicals as we arent ususally out then where the environment would affect our skin. They usually say its a day time skin care product. I use my anti-oxidants in the day and my acids in the evenings X
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 5 жыл бұрын
That is partially true. I use the vitamin c at night because it corrects sun damage. Vitamin c degrades in natural sunlight so it depends what purpose you are using it for. I use a different antioxidant in the morning to protect against free radicals. xxx

Three products (The Ordinary) is about 30$US. I think Gemma is introducing products that you may need, as we are all have different needs. I couldn’t possibly use every one of the products mentioned. Sunscreen and moisturizer Are always a must, she’s recommending products that protect and can work with cosmetics. If I need anything extra trade off one time , for example I’ll use vitamin C at night in place of one of my standard three. Beautiful skin makes makeup outstanding.

So have I. £50 worth in two separate orders and looking to purchase more... not so cheap if you go crazy like that! I decided to order the Matrixyl instead of the Buffet (as recommended by Gemma) and it has not been great so far; shame as I ordered two bottles of the stuff! It gives me an itchy feeling on my face all day and I have tiny break outs on may forehead, temples and lower cheeks. My skin is NOT at all prone t break outs so this is such shame. Looking back I wish I had bought the Buffet instead but hey... It has been only two days so I will continue to use it to allow a "purge" period. I hope it sorts itself out because I have loads more products on the way.

@@PamperedWolf Oh, hi! I wasn't expecting a reply from the PW herself 😊 . Yes, only two drops. the problem wasn't peeling but tiny break outs, but I think my skin is adjusting now. I have introduced A WHOLE LOT to my skin care routine (AM & PM) after watching mega-zillions of video reviews for The Ordinary. A totally new experience for someone who's beauty regime consisted of cleaning & moisturiser at best! Now I have a shelf full of products and a carefully crafted routine which I'm following both excitedly and religiously. Too early to give a verdict yet but I'm loving it. Thanks for the advice 👍🏽

Makeup is fun but skincare is one of my favorite obsessions. I recently tried a mask by Andalou called Pumpkin, Honey and Glycolic mask. The first ingredient is pumpkin pure'e and it smells wonderful! I have dry skin so I leave it on no longer than 10 minutes then rinse it off. It leaves the skin so soft and smooth! It works exactly like my bee venom mask but at half the price. My serums and moisturizers just sink in immediately. I love it! It's one of those skincare products you just stumble upon and then can't live without. :D I also can't live without my collagen face and eye creams. They have done wonders for my dry/mature skin! I don't use any retinol products as I can't stand the dry flakiness that seems to be inevitable. The flaking never seems to end and looks terrible under makeup. Yuck! I bought a 2.5% retinol eye cream recently that feels very smooth on the skin but sure enough, less then 2 weeks into using it the flakiness began. I stopped using it and now use it on the backs of my hands and forearms. For that it's working great. I may even repurchase it to continue using it to combat some pretty serious sun spots on my hands and arms. :)
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 5 жыл бұрын
Blimey no wonder your skin flakes if you're starting with a high strength retinol. You need to start low and build up your tolerance or your skin will be in a mess. Retinoids seem to cause less irritation so it might be good to start there. You can get away with a higher strength retinoid than retinol. I started with 2% Retinoid in Emulsion from The Ordinary. I had no irritation or flaking. I then moved to La Roche Posay 0.3% Retinol. My next move will be a 1% retinol. XXX
@helpfulnatural
@helpfulnatural 5 жыл бұрын
@@PamperedWolf Thank you for the info on retinol/retinoids. I have used vitamin A serums without any side effects so I may just stick with that for now. I may give it another go when the weather warms up and my skin is back in the normal range without being so dry. We have had extraordinarily cold/dry weather lately, way below normal for this time of year and it's taking a toll on my skin. :-(

Hi Gemma! Like your mum, I've purchased the Cerave Hydrating Face Cleanser to put that bottle in the shower when I start that routine. I still use the BM Cleansing Oil however, I have that one on my sink for use when not in the shower. I really like the Cerave Hydrating. I also purchased the No7 Eye Wrinkle/Fine Line Serum at my local Walgreens. I had run out of my former brand of Meaningful Beauty eye wrinkle cream for my fine lines so I remembered you said you liked those products too. I used them today in the morning & felt fine going on, so we'll see if I get nice results from it. Love the tip of using the Cerave Lotion on my lips! My lippie wrinkles on my actual lips are completely gone. Yay! I never had any lines around my lips thankfully. But the rest of my daytime & nighttime routines are the same with the exception of not using The Ordinary Plant Derived Squalane. I stopped using that one as I felt it never sank in my skin at night & my pillow received all of the benefits of that. Yuck! 🤗✌❤🤪😜xxx

Hi Gemma, just to let you and your viewers know that the particular La Roche Posay sunscreen spoken of in this video (which is awesome) is unavailable in the US due to the particular chemical (Trizazones or Triazenes) they use for the UVB (I think). HOWEVER, we can purchase it through sites like amazon uk. It costs a little more due to customs, blah, blah, blah, and it takes about 4 weeks to arrive. The one we can get here is great, but the one you mentioned is superior.

Hi. Love your video! Simple easy to listen to! I appreciate the time you take to make them! I have a question; my skin is very very dry!! Can I still use this same products?
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 5 жыл бұрын
Yes Gemma you can. The CeraVe moisturising lotion for dry-very dry skin would be great for you. I would cut out the mud mask probably if you feel you don't need it. xxx

Wow we have virtually identical morning routine. Only difference is the cleansing oil and I've now swapped out the No 7 lip care in favour of Burts Bees. Also alternate vitamin C and retinol products in evenings though still trialling to find my Holy Grail. I'll probably end up giving trentinoin a go, wrong side of my 40's !!!

So you don’t put lotion after using your retinol in the evening? Do you put it on after your masks?
@PamperedWolf
@PamperedWolf 5 жыл бұрын
If I use a mask it is the first step of my skincare routine. I then apply the rest of my evening products. If I feel the need I apply CeraVe moisturising Lotion after my retinol....but I rarely find it's necessary xxx

Joy Murphy never never too late . Skin is skin. If it stopped reacting to the environment we’d all look better. Think about it. Lol! It transformed my face at age 70. I soo look fabulous in cosmetics now.

EGF products worldwide are SUPER expensive as the ingredients and technology are extremely expensive. For £10 I question what they are actually using. xxx

As always a great video packed with lots of information and great tips. I’ll definitely be getting the Ordinary products - had one of them in the past and was really happy with it and wanted to get more but didn’t know which ones and how to use them - now I know - thank you so much! I also used to use Bare Minerals oil too until I discovered Sister & Co oil and love it so much more. Just wonder if you heard about it?

Late to the comments, but I have to agree with you regarding the Sunday Riley Vitamin C.E.ORapid Flash Brightening Serum! I’ve been using it for about four months, and I have noticed such a difference in my skin. It is brighter, smoother and even. I have used other Vitamin C serums, both high end and drug store, and the very best, BY FAR, is the Sunday Riley C.E.O. I had a red line on my left lower cheek, and a tiny, bright red dot above my right upper lip, and even that highly praised, hot dog water smelling C serum didn’t even fade them. It took 2 months using C.E.O to completely erase them. Love this, and will never be without it.

You mentioned that when using the peptides to go slow or your skin gets dry. Unfortunately I had already started before I found you so now I have more dry spots than I ever had. I am 60 and post menopausal so I dont need need any more dryness than what I already have. Any tips on what to do to remedy until my face gets used to it? I love your videos and your explanations really click with my analytical academic mind! ❣

It's not peptides that dry out the skin, it's retinol and AHA+BHA that can be aggressive if you jump in with both feet. If you use a retinol, start using it on alternate nights and water it down with a little moisturising lotion until you've built up your skin's tolerance top the active ingredients. The CeraVe moisturising lotion and cream for dry/very dry skin is amazing. It incorporates Hyaluronic Acid which hydrates the skin, and also ceramides which help repair your skins barrier and help lock in moisture. xxx
