Thank you for your video! I also believe that cleansing oils should emulsify so there’s no residue left on the skin and then I follow up with a gel cleanser (combo skin here). I usually apply my lash serum just before bed so my skincare would have been absorbed by then. Also I don’t know if anyone else does this but I put my retinoids creams or serums on my décolletage and hands as well.

I have been using Tretinoin for 3 years now and still peel around the mouth and chin. When I used the 0.1%, my whole face was coming off in sheets. My current night routine is a double cleanse (again I get so many from subscription boxes that I just grab one). I use Buffet, Niacinamide, and Matrixyl as a serum cocktail. Have been using Origins Ginseng eye cream and it seems to be working ok. I have very crepe like skin under my eyes and dark circles that are hereditary. I am still searching for something to ooh and ahh over. After that, I use the Ordinary Retinoid solution and follow it with my Drunk Elephant Protini Peptide moisturizer. I also use the Ordinary peeling solution once every couple of weeks. ... Most of what I use has been because of your videos and recommendations from previous videos. My skin is soooo much better now than before I found your channel!!! Thanks a ton.... Peace, love, and happiness!

I have been using dermatica for a while and they provide a very good service. I use my tretinoin most nights, taking the occasional night off if my skin is really irritated. I use the ordinary's retinol on my neck (in squalane) as my neck is much too sensitive to tolerate the tretinoin. I use the laneige cream skin refiner to help with the dryness associated with tretinoin use (I have super dry skin anyway) and a thick occlusive moisturiser or Korean sleeping pack to seal everything in. Be well and best wishes.

A few months back I read an interesting article about Skin Fasting. You literally strip back your skincare to just toner and moisturizer for one week. This gives the skin a complete rest from all the actives and treatments that are normally used. First time i tried it i was thinking this is going to be a sodding disaster and my skin will be like crap after a week of no actives. I was pleasantly surprised to find after the week that my skin looked really good! So now every six weeks I will do a 1 week skin fast. Has anyone else tried this? Great video Gemma. I also love the AHA/BHA peeling solution from The Ordinary...bit scary the first time you use it though lol. Stay safe and healthy xx p.s. Laneige Lip Mask is absolutely fantastic for dry lips. I use it every night before bed.

I’m of an age where “cleanse, tone, moisturise” is ingrained in me, but it seems that toning is never mentioned in your videos. Is toning still necessary or is it dependant on the type of cleanser used?
@christyca88884 жыл бұрын
Jenny Allcroft I work with dermatologists and they all say serums and toners are a waste of money - just a good cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen is all you need with exfoliating at least once a week.
@PamperedWolf4 жыл бұрын
Toners used to be there in order to restore the skin's PH balance after cleansing. That's not what they're for anymore. You get acid toners, vitamin C toners, niacin amide toners. Most are nice but totally not necessary. I disagree with Christy though. I've spoken to many dermatologists who recommend serums over moisturisers every day of the week. If you want your skincare to work deep down then a serum is necessary. xxx
@jennyallcroft71914 жыл бұрын
Pampered Wolf thank you for your reply Gemma I appreciate it very much. I have to say I use serums and love them, so wouldn’t want to give them up, but I’ve been very confused about using toner for a long time. Really love your channel and appreciate your advice. Xxx

@PamperedWolf4 жыл бұрын
You need SPF. It is the best product ever. The protection degrades throughout the day which is why you need to reapply it but the product itself stays on the skin. You do need to remove it in the evening when it's not needed. xxx

Great vid. I use a lot of the same products as you - the red peel, Dermatica tret, matrixyl and niacinamide. However, I never mix matrixyl and niacinamide, but rather layer them. I assume mixing doesn’t hinder effectiveness in any way? Would certainly save me some time 🤔
@PamperedWolf4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't effect their effectiveness as long as you make sure you're thorough. You're getting the same effect by layering if you don't let the serums completely dry down before you apply the next serum xxx

Loved the video. I watched your skin rescue IGTV and managed to pick up all the products plus another one like the eye cream which is brilliant (I think it’s called rescue cream also by purito). I agree wholeheartedly with the AHA / BHA peeling solution. That shizzle is magic but definately don’t go longer than 10 mins. I don’t use any vitamin A so I use once a week. I will be looking for the NIOD as I have heard such good things about it (I just did try and buy it but it’s sold out of my usual shop - luckily as I just bought the Wayne Goss Lipsticks (only one plus a pencil plus a gloss) and I fear my husband may kill me when my purchase start arriving. The best thing is though I found the good molecules facial oil while buying his lippies so I was able to pick some up. ISO 2020 may have sucked in so many ways but my skin is LOVING me as I have had the time to work from home, not apply makeup and just concentrate on my skincare. My skin has never looked better. Thank you for these type of videos as makeup is beautiful but if your base is bad underneath your makeup is never going to look like your skin but better. Love your channel. Would love to see what your mum does for her skincare so I could create a skincare pack for my mum for her birthday or Christmas as she is 70 (young looking 70) and deserves some great products.

Gemma...how do you slather SPF all throughout the day while wearing makeup. I think of slathering meaning cream.

Hi Gemma Why aren t you using anymore Lactic Acid in your evening routine?

I can't use lactic acid with tretionoin. I use the peeling solution every 9-10 days instead xxx

Dermatologists do not recommend mixing serums but layer each individually because when you mix you don’t cover properly the area.

That's just not true xx

Pampered Wolf Both Dr Bunting and Dr Dray don’t recommend it and I remember Wayne Goss saying once that even though it is not recommended he likes to cocktail his serums.

France Dangela I understand what you’re saying and in a perfect world where time is no issue layering products is great. But you have to leave 5-10 minutes between each serum otherwise you’d have exactly the same effects as applying the products in a cocktail. Who has time for that? Xxx

Pampered Wolf Totally agree with you; who has time ! When it came to choose between nourishing my skin and beautifying it , I traded in the time for perfectly arched eyebrows, straight eyeliner and blended multicolour eyeshadows with a much simpler face. Now I have time for my serums. Mind you I don’t wait between layers but I do layer to get the full properties. I discovered in my 50s that I needed to prioritize my skin versus my beauty. 😉

Just wondering how comes you don't use the ordinary moisturiser anymore? Also, do you think using castor oil on the eyelashes would work just as well? X
@PamperedWolf4 жыл бұрын
I still love the ordinary moisturising factors but the create works better for what I need it for. I would recommend starting with castor oil as it's more affordable. If that doesn't work then switch to an eyelash serum xxx

Have you tried Niod hydration vaccine? Stops the irritation from retinol products 💕

Pampered Wolf have a look at the reviews on the deciem website. It’s expensive so I mix half and half with Cerave lotion to make it last longer. And tbh its so thick it’s easier to spread. It’s on offer on QVC atm 💖

If your using retinol instead of tretinoin would you also refrain the day before and after when using the aha/bha peeling solution?

I watched your original video on using Tretinoin and learned a lot that I have been doing wrong over many years! But I am confused. I believe you said that when you use this product it should be on clean, dry skin. So do you use it every night AFTER applying the Matrixyl & Niacinamide? Please clarify that for me. I liked that you outlined what you use every night for 7 days, then stop using & on the 8th day the peel, then skip one more day and then go back to using the products. I just need the clarification on the Tretinoin. Thanks.

I think you may need to watch the video again 😂. I do apply tretinoin on clean dry skin. xxx
